    The study analyzes the contents of articles published in homeopathic journals, to find out the research methods, data analysis techniques, productive country contributing highest number of article, highest contributing author, year wise publication, etc. during 2004 – 2007. A total of 549 articles were published in the selected homeopathic journals. Data analysis revealed, that India is the most productive country contributing articles published in the selected homeopathic journals

    The priority for ideas and philosophy related to "Network Theory" have been traced back and documented by Braun(2004),and credit goes to Karinthy(1929).The IT has empowered to realise it, as the most practical phenomena and it is no more a humour. The OAI (Open Archives Initiatives)and ACIS (Academic Contributor Information System)are progressive in the direction ,which may lead to realise the "Collective Genius" at global level. Focus of present study is on Author-Self-Archiving (A-S-A)Metadata of the 983 Eprints in the Live Archives of the E-LIS (EPrints of Library and Information Science),which were approved till 7th July 2004.The A-S-A Metadata was used for librametric analysis. Self-explanatory bibliographics are illustrated.The highlights include: Conference papers (34%); highest approval, June 2004 (28%); published archives (76%);not refereed (52%); not in public domain (60%); highest self-archiving-author (De Robbio, Antonella).The Nos. of EPrints having single JITA domain specifications were: Theoretical and general aspects of libraries and information(27); Information use and sociology of information(80);Users,literacy and reading(13);Libraries as physical collections(30);Publishing and legal issues(57);Management(13);Industry, profession and education(36);Information sources, supports, channels(113) ; Information treatment for information services, Information functions and techniques (101); Technical services libraries, archives and museums(25); Housing technologies(1); Information technology and library technology(92); and Inter-domainery (395) i.e. having specifications of two or more than two JITA classes

    A state observer based data assimilation method between RANS and robotic PIV data

    Experimental fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics have traditionally been treated as disparate fields of study. However, each field has its own unique set of advantages and disadvantages. Data assimilation is a field that can be used to leverage some of the advantages each field offers to help compensate mutualweaknesses. In this thesis, a state observer based data assimilation method is used to assimilate 3-D experimental data obtained in a wind tunnel experiment onto a steady RANS simulation. The experimental data is considered as the ground truth and is used to condition the RANS simulation. An understanding of the working of the method along with a study on the effect of different parameters of the state observer method are gathered by first applying it on the 1-D viscous Burgers equation and a 2-D CFD simulation. For the 3-D case, experimental data is obtained by performing a wind tunnel experiment using robotic PIV to map the time-averaged velocity field around a bluff body following which the data is assimilated onto a steady RANS simulation of the same body. Application of this method helps to recreate topological features and velocityfields of the flow with better accuracy than a baseline CFD simulation.     Efficiency loss in market mechanisms for resource allocation

The certified thesis is available in the Institute Archives and Special Collections.This thesis addresses a problem at the nexus of engineering, computer science, and economics: in large scale, decentralized systems, how can we efficiently allocate scarce resources among competing interests? On one hand, constraints are imposed on the system designer by the inherent architecture of any large scale system. These constraints are counterbalanced by the need to design mechanisms that efficiently allocate resources, even when the system is being used by participants who have only their own best interests at stake. We consider the design of resource allocation mechanisms in such environments. The analytic approach we pursue is characterized by four salient features. First, the monetary value of resource allocation is measured by the aggregate surplus (aggregate utility less aggregate cost) achieved at a given allocation. An efficient allocation is one which maximizes aggregate surplus. Second, we focus on market-clearing mechanisms, which set a single price to ensure demand equals supply. Third, all the mechanisms we consider ensure a fully efficient allocation if market participants do not anticipate the effects of their actions on market-clearing prices. Finally, when market participants are price anticipating, full efficiency is generally not achieved, and we quantify the efficiency loss. We make two main contributions. First, for three economic environments, we consider specific market mechanisms and exactly quantify the efficiency loss in these environments when market participants are price anticipating. The first two environments address settings where multiple consumers compete to acquire a share of a resource in either fixed or elastic supply; these models are motivated by resource allocation in communication(cont.) networks. The third environment addresses competition between multiple producers to satisfy an inelastic demand; this model is motivated by market design in power systems. Our second contribution is to establish that, under reasonable conditions, the mechanisms we consider minimize efficiency loss when market participants anticipate the effects of their actions on market-clearing prices. Formally, we show that in a class of market-clearing mechanisms satisfying certain simple mathematical assumptions and for which there exist fully efficient competitive equilibria, the mechanisms we consider uniquely minimize efficiency loss when market participants are price anticipating.by Ramesh Johari.Ph.D
