    Skripsi ini berjudul “ Penerapan Maxim Of Politeness pada drama Fred „n‟ Erma karya Calvin Miller author of the singer: Kajian Pragmatis”. Identifikasi masalah dalam skripsi ini adalah mengenai pemahaman tentang aturan-aturan Prinsip Kesantunan dengan membahas percakapan yang mengandung pelanggaran-pelanggaran pada percakapan dalam drama Fred „n‟ Erma.Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode deskriptif analisis, yaitu, metode penelitian yang digunakan dengan cara mendeskripsikan data yang kemudian diikuti dengan analisis.Sumber data yang dipakai dalam skripsi ini diambil dari drama Fred „n‟ Erma karya Calvin Miller Author of the Singer.Landasan teori yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini adalah teori dari Leech yang berhubungan dengan pragmatis, yakni pengertian maksim, jenis-jenis maksim, faktor pelanggaran maksim dan penyebab terjadinya pelanggaran.Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah (1) maksim kesopanan yang paling dominan muncul pada drama Fred „n‟ Erma adalah maksim kesepakatan (2)bahwa percakapan dalam drama Fred „n‟ Erma tersebut, telah melanggar prinsip kesantunan, dan pelanggaran terhadap maksim pujian dan kesepakatan adalah pelanggaran yang sering terjadi dalam percakapan drama tersebut; (3) faktor-faktor terjadinya pelanggaran tersebut yang terjadi di dalam drama Fred „n‟ Erma, lebih banyak karena adanya faktor mempermainkan maksim pujian dan kesepakatan dalam menyampaikan pesan dan merespon sebuah pertanyaan
