The Communication Strategies and Customer's Requirements Definition at the Early Design Stages: An Empirical Study on Italian Luxury Automotive Brands
AbstractAt the early stages of the product development, it is important to set up customer's requirements and translate these into the technical specifications with the highest level of precision since the changes in the late design phases have extremely high cost. These requirements are directly dependent on the correct and complete definition of perceived quality attributes. Such attention to the details is vital for the luxury car manufacturers since they are seeking to fulfill customer requirements with the high level of personalization. This research based on the perceived quality framework and presents findings from the empirical study of leading Italian luxury vehicle manufacturers. This research contributes to the existing debate regarding the correct definition of the customer's requirements and communication strategies. Moreover, it highlights possible ways to reduce information asymmetry between car manufacturers and customers

Discussions in social media regarding the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation
In his article, ‘Discussions in social media regarding the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation’, Rikard Friberg von Sydow, Senior Lecturer in Archival Science, shares his findings regarding the dis-course on the new data protection legislation carried out on social media by groups of professionals before the GDPR entered into force. Analysing the discussions which took place in three Facebook groups of professionals particularly impacted by this new legislation (archivists, IT-professionals and communicators in the public sector), the author concludes that the discussions witness confusion and very varying levels of insight in the new legislation. The difficulties encountered by the groups of professionals studied in understanding the content and the impact of the new legal framework raise even the crucial question of the practicability and efficiency of the European data protection legislation, and furthermore, the question of the respect for the Rule of Law

Real Walking in Virtual Environments for Factory Planning and Evaluation
AbstractNowadays, buildings or production facilities are designed using specialized design software and building information modeling tools help to evaluate the resulting virtual mock-up. However, with current, primarily desktop based tools it is hard to evaluate human factors of such a design, for instance spatial constraints for workforces. This paper presents a new tool for factory planning and evaluation based on virtual reality that allows designers, planning experts, and workforces to walk naturally and freely within a virtual factory. Therefore, designs can be checked as if they were real before anything is built
