Flood problem in motorcycle lane / Siti Hamidah Omar
The important element in highway is drainage. The drainage system must be designed based on the standard required to take water off from the surface of the highway. The factor of a flooding problem at highway can occur when the drainage was blockages and damage. However, the flood problem can prevent, if well maintenance. Another factor of flood problem in highway is waterlogged or over capacity, slope of the pavement and construction of drainage. Flooded and waterlogged roads result when the amount of water falling on the road is greater than the capacity of the drainage facilities that take it away. This is related to the design and construction of drainage. The poor design can direct water back onto the road and if too much water remaining on the surface, base and sub-grade can cause potholes, crack and pavement failure. The researcher also does the research on safety to the motorcycle rider. The safety to the motorcycle rider very important and was the user satisfaction and requirement about the highway. Furthermore, not only the safety that must required, the comfort, mobility, efficiency and productivity also requirement that should be provided. Allowing motorcycles to move more freely through traffic could help reduce overall congestion, and potentially reduce some types of motorcycle crashes. In some case, it may also reduce motorcycle rider travel time

Development of main contractor and subcontractor relationship (MACSOR) framework for Malaysian construction projects / Siti Hamidah Abdull Rahman
The parties in construction projects such as client, consultants, contractor and subcontractors have their responsibility to participate in delivering a quality project. In the construction project environment, the conflicts between main contractor and subcontractor have been developed due to lack of communication, delivery of information on site, master and slave syndrome, poor management systems and poor supervision. Unfortunately, these problems will lead to poor on the whole management of the projects, behind schedule project delivery, create dissatisfaction between main contractor and subcontractor as well as clients and low quality of products. Therefore, it is important for contractors to maintain a good performance and reputation of work. Based on the previous research, the awareness of good relationship between contractor and subcontractor in the construction industry is low. Based on the previous research, the awareness of good relationship between contractor and subcontractor in the construction industry is low. While several studies have been conducted within the similar research boundary in the country, specific variable with growing importance in the literature, namely the human-related factors such as trust, commitment and relationship between stakeholders in the project, has not received much attention. Therefore, it is necessary to explore on the existing working relationship between contractors and subcontractors in order to develop a framework of a successful relationship between contractors and sub-contractors in the construction project. There are three stages involved in this research. Stage one; data were collected through a semi-structured interview to determine the current relationship, the challenges and the factors contributing to the good and bad relationship between main contractor and subcontractor. Stage two; questionnaire survey was conducted which focused to identify the critical success factors (CSFs) that influence the good relationship between main contractor and subcontractor. Finally, stage three; develop a comprehensive framework of main contractor and subcontractor successful relationship using the Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. In the MACSOR framework development (stage three), the collected data were synthesized from semi-structured interviews (stage one) and questionnaire survey (stage two). In the main findings, there have ten relationship factors in influencing the loyalty of the main contractor and subcontractor relationship. The factors are motivation, reputation, competence, communication, shared values, conflict handling, satisfaction, trust, commitment and cooperation. It was found that cooperation and commitment given a direct influence on loyalty with significant level of one percent. Therefore, it can be concluded that cooperation and commitment will positively affect the loyalty between main contractor and subcontractor in construction projects. The significance of the developed framework would help to improve good relationship between main contractor and subcontractor specifically in Malaysian construction projects. In the future, it is anticipated that this framework will give guidelines to the construction practitioners for them to understand the importance of building a successful relationship in Malaysian construction projects

An integrated value management (IVM) framework for contractors in design and build (D&B) projects / Siti Hamidah Abdul Hamid
The concept of ‘integrated value management’ or IVM in the construction industry refers to joining a number of various elements into a specific project to move, operate and function harmoniously with the ultimate aim of achieving successful outcomes. Value management (VM) as a process improvement is vital to be embedded in D&B projects in relation to respond to the government’s effort in enhancing innovation, productivity and quality of construction projects under the 10th Malaysian Plan. However, VM is been criticised for the fact that it unable to reduce D&B project delivery time and bring the project sooner to its operational phase. Furthermore, it was discovered that the negative attitude of project participants towards the VM process resulted in poor commitment and trust. The limitations of VM emphasised that VM alone cannot guarantee a successful project outcome. VM needs to be integrated with other process improvements (i.e., total quality management, risk management, partnering, value engineering and constructability) to form the IVM concept in order to deliver a successful D&B project. Thus, the aim of this research is to develop an IVM framework for contractors in D&B projects. The empirical research was undertaken by means of preliminary survey among four organisations (3 contractors’ organisations and 1 client) that were involved in VM practices. It is followed by a questionnaire survey to 56 D&B contractors resulted in 31 valid responses being received. The results of the questionnaire survey were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 19. In order to underpin the questionnaire survey, semi-structured interviews with eight (8) experienced D&B contractors was conducted. Besides, four (4) case studies was carried out to provide a more thorough analysis of D&B projects which expected to reveal interesting information by the implementation of VM approach. Both data were analysed by thematic content analysis method. The findings from the research were used to develop an IVM framework which was validated to confirm its external validity. The findings revealed that VM was expected to be integrated with risk management, partnering and constructability throughout D&B project phases to form the IVM concept. It is to secure or increase contractor’s profit margin, meet clients’ needs and satisfaction and deliver a quality product. The IVM framework could provide more value added for D&B contractors in managing projects and achieving successful D&B project delivery

The thought remains focused on both countries and its societies’ intelligence with regards to savage construction growth. In thinking about, and acting upon the unique building creation by mankind, we need wisdom to match Allah SWT as the Creator. The creation remains in close relationship to the Creator. Despite the Creator is always in advance of creation and so it is able to will the existence of human creation through knowledge transfer. Human intellect is supported by the power of remembrance and thoughts to Allah SWT.
The artwork is the combination of medium and high rise buildings which are created by human beings, while the word ‘Allah’ as the Creator of the universe is a well blended part of the building. It is the symbol of the Creator, presently and constantly involved in the world in various ways which is represented by the use of mixed colors. The attitudes toward the earth and its resources are implied by the belief in Allah as the Creator in the Islamic religious tradition is vital. Human beings continue to make unique building designs by using advanced technology today. However, one undeniable fact is that no matter how far man has explored and achieved, the man himself remains a mystery and seeks actual human reality. All the answers reflect to Allah the Creator as the reflection of the buildings in the artwork
