First description of the Genus Nucleoceras Kolebaba from the Silurian of the Carnic Alps, N.E. Italy

    No full text
The genus Nucleoceras and the species Nucleoceras cf. obelus are here described for the rst time outside of Bohemia, its type-area. Critical internal features of the genus, such as the open connecting rings on dorsal side and well developed hyposeptal and episeptal cameral deposits, are well preserved in the studied material, which were collected from the Silurian of the Carnic Alps (Italian side)

    A real CKM Matrix ?

The hypothesis of a real Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix has been considered and found to be disfavoured by present measurements even when neglecting results from CP violation in neutral kaon decay. The Best Linear Unbiased Estimator has been used as a statistical approach to compute the confidence level. This result agrees with most of the previous literature but contradicts statements reported in a recent paper

Materiali per architeture sostenibili/Materials for sustainable architectures

Fatigue damage evolution in glass/epoxy cross-ply laminates under spectrum loadings

    No full text
Fatigue tests were carried out on a glass/epoxy cross-ply laminate under constant amplitude, two-stage repeated blocks and three different types of spectrum loadings. The damage evolution, in terms of transverse crack initiation, propagation and crack density evolution, was analysed. It was found that the linear damage accumulation rule, previously validated for long block loadings, is not suitable for a generic spectrum. Indeed, it leads to an underestimation of the number of cracks and their propagation rate. The results are discussed to identify the main spectrum features influencing the fatigue damage evolution. A theoretical framework is derived to interpret the results and predicting the crack density evolution under spectrum loadings

NIGHT - Non-Line-of-Sight Imaging from Indirect Time of Flight Data

    No full text
The acquisition of objects outside the Line-of-Sight of cameras is a very intriguing but also extremely challenging research topic. Recent works showed the feasibility of this idea exploiting transient imaging data produced by custom direct Time of Flight sensors. In this paper, for the first time, we tackle this problem using only data from an off-the-shelf indirect Time of Flight sensor without any further hardware requirement. We introduced a Deep Learning model able to re-frame the surfaces where light bounces happen as a virtual mirror. This modeling makes the task easier to handle and also facilitates the construction of annotated training data. From the obtained data it is possible to retrieve the depth information of the hidden scene. We also provide a first-in-its-kind synthetic dataset for the task and demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed idea over it

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
