La narrazione storica nei videogiochi: il caso di Sid Meier’s Civilization
Full text linkLa ricezione delle concezioni e dei messaggi insiti nei videogiochi nonché il loro impiego nella didattica, hanno già rappresentato un terreno di indagine in diverse discipline delle scienze sociali. Tuttavia, il medium videoludico sconta ancora una scarsa considerazione da parte degli storici e fatica ad accreditarsi come vero e proprio oggetto di indagine, sebbene esistano molti titoli a tema storico. In tale margine non presidiato, stereotipi, falsi storici e narrazioni distorte hanno potenziale spazio per proliferare. Il contributo intende analizzare le eredità e gli immaginari della saga Civilization di Sid Meier, considerato uno dei videogiochi di strategia a tema storico più celebri nel mondo.The receptivity of the concepts and messages embedded in video games, as well as their use in education, have already been investigated in various social science disciplines. However, the video game medium still suffers from a lack of consideration by historians and struggles to establish itself as a real object of investigation, even though there are many titles dealing with historical themes. In this unguarded margin, stereotypes, historical fallacies and distorted narratives have potential space to proliferate. The paper aims to analyse the legacies and imaginaries of Sid Meier’s Civilization saga, considered one of the most famous history-themed strategy video games in the world

No full textLa presenza degli apprendenti non nativi o di quelli di seconda e di terza generazione all’interno delle scuole italiane è significativa, soprattutto in considerazione di territori attrattivi rispetto ai percorsi migratori, come avviene per i grandi centri urbani. Capita sempre meno di rado, dunque, che i contesti di insegnamento siano caratterizzati da un’utenza diversificata sul piano linguistico, sociale e culturale. All’interno della letteratura scientifica, si è soliti distinguere il plurilinguismo dal multilinguismo; mentre il primo riguarda la dimensione dell’individuo, che ha la facoltà di utilizzare diversi sistemi linguistici, il secondo termine si riferisce alla coesistenza di comunità alloglotte all’interno dello stesso territorio, tuttavia «la distinzione tra plurilinguismo e multilinguismo è raramente utilizzata in ambito italiano dove prevale plurilinguismo nelle diverse accezioni» (Marcato 2012: 13). Nel presente contributo ci si sofferma sulla prima fase della ricerca che vede coinvolti i genitori e, in particolare, i genitori ‘non nativi’. Per raccogliere rappresentazioni e vissuti dei genitori, sono state elaborate due diverse matrici. La prima, pensata per genitori nativi, composta di 11 item a scelta multipla, è stata progettata per esplorare comportamenti e percezioni in relazione a: carattere multiculturale della società italiana, esistenza (o meno) di rapporti con i genitori immigrati; relazioni/ interazioni dei loro figli con altri alunni, nativi e immigrati; ruolo della scuola nel promuovere una società inclusiva
Quali politiche linguistiche per una lingua minoritaria in pericolo?
No full textI will discuss best practices in language planning; more specifically, I will focus on common mistakes that can hinder otherwise successful policies. My case study will centre on the Sardinian language policies undertaken in the last two decades. My work will provide an overall picture of the vitality of the Sardinian language and the sociolinguistic profiles and actual proficiency level of its current speakers. I will argue that it is crucial that planners take such information into account, even more so at a time when an increasing number of minority language speakers are, in effect, heritage speakers. These speakers must be actively involved in the planning process, and their linguistic competence (however incomplete) must be taken seriously. I will show that decision-makers’ and educators' widespread disregard of these matters is a serious obstacle to any successful language planning policy

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Nel caso si sfizio è recuperata una etimologia (che rimanda al catalano) proposta già nella prima edizione del VSES (/VES) di Alberto Varvaro, ma finora non notata dai lessicografi. Per Mugusmo è rintracciata la prima attestazione in un testo italiano, mentre per Secchione (individuato in una lettera di don Lorenzo Milani) si propone qui una motivazione semantica
