The will of Rosset, as reflected in his purchases, was to have the greatest number of different weapons from the point of view of typology, chronology and geographical area of origin, probably in order to study the processes of technological innovation, the aesthetic changes of the decorative apparatuses over the centuries, or again, to evaluate their peculiarities based on the production center from which they came. This catalog is therefore structured trying to interpret what must have been the themes of primary interest of Ferdinando Rosset. Era il 1988 quando Luigi Marzoli donava alla città di Brescia la splendida collezione che permise l’apertura, nella suggestiva sede del Mastio Visconteo, del Museo delle Armi.
Oltre trent’anni dopo, questo volume – che prende avvio dai lavori del convegno di studi Il Museo Marzoli e le armi lombarde (Brescia, Auditorium Santa Giulia, 15-17 novembre 2018) – è dedicato al Museo e alla sua straordinaria collezione di armi e armature dal Trecento al Rinascimento. Interamente dedicato alle armi antiche, Heavy Metal si propone di indagare alcuni fondamentali argomenti della produzione armiera lombarda, in particolar modo bresciana, dal XV al XIX secolo, sotto diversi punti di vista e soprattutto in relazione alla collezione proprio del Museo delle Armi “Luigi Marzoli”.
Il trentennale del Museo delle Armi ha rappresentato un’occasione straordinaria offrendo l’opportunità di dare spazio alle nuove correnti di studio che negli ultimi anni hanno rinnovato la tradizione oplologica. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textQuando pensiamo alla Firenze del primo Rinascimento, il nostro pensiero va alle grandiose opere d’arte nel campo della pittura, dell’architettura e della scultura che tutt’oggi sono visibili ed apprezzabili.
In quegli stessi anni la città divenne nondimeno celebre anche per altre creazioni di artigianato e ingegno che tuttavia hanno lasciato un segno molto più leggero, se non del tutto invisibile, nella memoria comune. Tra queste opere, quelle meno ricordate a livello storiografico sono sicuramente gli armamenti e in special modo quelli difensivi che all’epoca avevano una rilevanza non secondaria per qualità, funzionalità e ricercatezza.
Questo saggio si pone come obiettivo quello di gettare una prima luce su
questo settore produttivo, economico ed artistico, con un focus sulla fine del Trecento e i primi decenni del secolo successivo. Verranno identificate le Arti che si occuparono della produzione e del commercio di armature, armamenti corazzati e tutti gli altri elementi protettivi per il corpo e, tramite i loro statuti corporativi, sarà analizzato il lessico specifico utilizzato all’epoca. Al fine di valutare il numero complessivo di artefici e imprenditori che si dedicavano a tali attività, saranno esaminate le matricole corporative, laddove disponibili, e i dati ricavabili dal Catasto del 1427. Tramite quest’ultima fonte sarà inoltre possibile definire la collocazione spaziale delle botteghe all’interno del tessuto urbano, oltre ad altre informazioni utili a delineare un primo quadro di tale attività
