    The twist-three distribution eq(x,k⊥) in a light-front model

    No full text
We discuss the twist-three, unpolarized, chiral-odd, transverse momentum dependent parton distribution (TMD) eq(x,k⊥) within a light-front model. We review a model-independent decomposition of this TMD, which follows from the QCD equations of motion and is given in terms of a mass term, a pure interaction-dependent contribution, and singular terms. The mass-term and pure twist-three contributions are represented in terms of overlap of light-front wave functions (LFWFs), taking into account the Fock states with three valence quark (3q) and three-quark plus one gluon (3q+g). The 3q and 3q+g LFWFs with total orbital angular momentum zero are modeled using a parametrization derived from the conformal expansion of the proton distribution amplitudes, with parameters fitted to reproduce available phenomenological information on the unpolarized leading-twist quark and gluon collinear parton distributions. Numerical predictions for both the quark TMD eq(x,k⊥) and the collinear parton distribution eq(x) are presented, discussing the role of the quark–gluon correlations in the proton. Keywords: Higher-twist transverse momentum dependent parton distributions, Quark–gluon correlations, Light-front wave function

Marciano Ital. IX. 347 (=6483)

Nuove frontiere dell’audiovisivo . Contaminazioni tra media audiovisivi tradizionali e new media nella fruizione del racconto audiovisivo dopo il web 2.0

    No full text
Due to the arrival of Internet, several normal human activities changed very drastically. Mostly after the 2.0 web revolution, both communicative and artistic elements were mixed together and it is often hard to distinguish each other. In this context, visual technologies and ITC continuous updating change the way to think, ideate, realize and enjoy audiovisual products. Youtube is now a melting pot of personal videos, vlogs, ripped movies or TV series but even original products and users generated contents like web series, tutorials, science divulgation videos, personal opinion reviews and much other. Dramatic concept and “screenplay rules” for those contents are pretty new and renewed than classical ones, because of the drastic change of the means of implementation and use of those contents. In the same way the technologies used to create and enjoy those contents have changed and renewed themselves to better adapt to the new rules. On the other hand Netflix (like HBO, Amazon etc...) is now producing its personal contents like movies and TV series direct-to-web. Which technical differences exist between a movie made for cinemas and a movie made for smartphones? Will the “vertical” web series be the future of audiovisual entertainment? and will the UGC and the Storytelling the new and unique ways to realize commercials on web? This work pretends to reflect on the “web audiovisual” revolution today, by examination of several case studies realized with new media technologies, direct-to-web

Il gioco delle antifrasi nell’incipit della Fiaccola sotto il moggio

    No full text
The textual incipit of the second Abruzzo tragedy by Gabriele d’Annunzio, La fiaccola sotto il moggio (1905), defines its character in close relationship with three literary references: the Vangeli (of Luca, Matteo and Marco), the Coefore of Eschilo and La figlia di Iorio (1903; ed. 1904) by the poet himself. The analysis of the first portion of the dramaturgical text shows how, starting from the initial atmospheres, the author loves the game of antiphrastic references with those works, which constitute the filigree of the poetic construction through thematic and conceptual references. Above all, the inverse morality that animates Gigliola, the protagonist, emerges in relation with the evangelical premises contained in the title, as well as the subversion of the tragic order of the classical matrix which also inspires the text

Per una governance dell’acqua. Dal valore all’uso sostenibile della risorsa. Esperienze e casi di successo

    No full text

The valence quark, sea, and gluon content of the pion from the parton distribution functions and the electromagnetic form factor

    No full text
We present a light-front model calculation of the pion parton distribution functions (PDFs) and the pion electromagnetic form factor. The pion state is modeled in terms of light-front wave functions (LFWFs) for the qqˉq\bar q, qqˉqqˉq\bar q q\bar q, qqˉgq\bar q g, and qqˉggq\bar q gg components. We design the LFWFs so that the parameters in the longitudinal and transverse momentum space enter separately in the fit of the pion PDFs and the electromagnetic form factor, respectively. We extract the pion PDFs within the xFitter framework using available Drell-Yan and photon-production data. With the obtained parameters in the longitudinal-momentum space, we then fit the available experimental data on the pion electromagnetic form factor to constrain the remaining parameters in the transverse-momentum space. The results for the pion PDFs are compatible with existing extractions and lattice calculations, and the fit to the pion electromagnetic form factor data works quite successfully. The obtained parametrization for the LFWFs marks a step forward towards a unified description of different hadron distribution functions in both the longitudinal- and transverse-momentum space and will be further applied to a phenomenological study of transverse-momentum dependent parton distribution functions and generalized parton distributions.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures; typos corrected, one reference added and discussion of the model extended; version to appear in Phys. Mediation Analysis Synthetic Control

    No full text
The synthetic control method (SCM) allows estimating the causal effect of an intervention in settings where panel data on a small number of treated and control units are available. We show that the existing SCM, as well as its extensions, can be easily modified to estimate how much of the ``total'' effect goes through observed causal channels. Our new mediation analysis synthetic control (MASC) method requires additional assumptions that are arguably mild in many settings. We illustrate the implementation of MASC in an empirical application estimating the direct and indirect effects of an anti-smoking intervention (California's Proposition 99).Comment: We have benefited from comments by Simone De Angelis and participants at several seminars, workshops, and conferences.
