Santarcangelo, primi anni Novanta. Tracce di cyberpunk in teatro

No full text
The essay examines three experiences developed through the editions of the Santarcangelo Festival between the ➀s and ➐s led by Antonio Attisani under the project Lavoro d\u27arte comune (“shared artwork”) with the aim of opening both Italian theatre and the Festival to the new impulses that at that time were coming from different areas of artistic experimentation, cultural production, and social innovation: the work of Giacomo Verde, of the "Decoder" group and of the Mutoid Waste Com- pany, which ideally and then concretely converge in Santarcangelo between 1989 and 1993. The author studies these theoretical and practical twines in relation to the ideas that in the same period were arising in the context of the cyberpunk, in order to enlighten one of the important turning point through which in the ➀s we can follow the transmission (and reworking) of the practices of artivism in Italian theatre, from the protests of the ❠s and the ❰s to the underground experiences of the new millennium

Automatic conflict analysis and resolution of traffic filtering policy for firewall and Security Gateway

No full text
Firewalls and Security Gateways are core elements in network security infrastructure. As networks and services become more complex, managing access-list rules becomes an error-prone task. Conflicts in a policy can cause holes in security, and can often be hard to find while performing only visual or manual inspection. First, we have defined a methodology to systematically classify the severity of rule conflicts; secondly, we have proposed two different solutions to automatically resolve conflicts in a firewall. For one of them we found an algebraic proof of the existence of the solution and the convergence of the algorithm, and then we have made a software implementation to test it. © 2007 IEEE

S-VPN policy: Access list conflict automatic analysis and resolution

S-VPN gateways are today core elements in network security infrastructure. As networks and services become more complex, managing IPSec access rules becomes an error-prone task. Conflicts in a policy can cause holes in security, and often they can be hard to find when performing only visual or manual inspection. We have defined firstly a methodology to systematically classify the severity of rule conflicts and secondly we have proposed two different solutions to automatically resolve conflicts in an access list, implementing and testing one of them

La tecnica narrativa nelle Storie ferraresi di Giorgio Bassani /

No full text
One aspect of Giorgio Bassani's narrative that requires to be examined is that of the narrator, the narrative voice and therefore the point of view from which the facts are narrated. The identification of these elements is fundamental because they influence the author's expressive choices, and thus determine the way in which the reader approaches the events described. This study posits an analysis of the narrative techniques used by the author to develop Le storie ferraresi, and aims to assess the ends, partially explicit, he intends to meet

LNOI Wireless Switches Based on Optical Phased Arrays for On-chip Communication

No full text
On-chip optical wireless links are attracting a great deal of interest as they can provide a possible solution to overcome the drawbacks associated with wired connections. In this paper, we propose a new approach for on-chip communication using optical wireless switches based on thin-film lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) technology. The optical wireless switches exploit reconfigurable optical phased arrays (OPAs) both at the transmitter and at the receivers. We investigate the radiation characteristics and design criteria of the LN antenna element serving as a unit radiator in the OPAs. We then demonstrate the implementation of an on-chip optical wireless switch in a simple infinite homogeneous host medium and assuming a realistic multilayer structure configuration. Moreover, we examine the impact of various geometrical parameters and the fabrication imperfections on the device performance and provide a discussion on the design optimization. Our findings assess the feasibility of optical wireless switches based on LNOI technology for on-chip wireless communication

Development of a high backdrivable partially powered Swing assistive actuator knee design: a multiobjective optimization framework

No full text
This manuscript presents a multiobjective optimization framework for high backdrivable partially powered swing assistive actuator knee design. The research exploits a Serial Elastic Actuator (SEA), in parallel with a motor valves controlled hydraulic cylinder, with the purpose of expanding the prosthesis capabilities into the power quadrants of the power plane, without sacrificing the benefits relative to existing microprocessorcontrolled-knee prostheses (MPKs), able to allow a strictlypassive ballistic swing-phase. The mechatronic design parameters are optimized by exploiting the multi-objective evolutionary genetic algorithm and validated by means of a knee prosthesis multibody model. The backdrive torque found with the described model corresponds to a relatively low value of 2.56 Nm at the knee joint, allowing the pursued high backdrivability of the system

Decentralization and fuel subsidies

This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Elsevier via the DOI in this recordThis paper explores the role of decentralization in explaining variation in fuel subsidies across countries. Using panel data over the period 1998-2008 and for 108 countries, it emerges that the effect of ‘decentralization’ (taken to be an increase in the number of government levels) broadly decreases both diesel and gasoline subsidies, with this effect being more pronounced when the level of political accountability is low. For developing countries, for which political accountability is low, decentralization decreases gasoline and diesel subsidies by at least 6.98% and 12.99%, respectively. For developed countries, for which political accountability is high, decentralization does not have any impact on both gasoline and diesel. What this evidence points to is that in developing economies, where voters are poorly informed and accountability is low, decentralization appears to be associated with lower fuel subsidies.Leonzio Rizzo thankfully acknowledges financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (ECO2012-37873) and also from FIR 2016

Algorithm to automatically solve security policy conflicts among IP devices configurations

No full text
One of the most critical aspects of security problems is the impossibility of accurately checking a system real weaknesses. In a complex and distributed environment this problem is greatly accentuated. During the process of configuration and implementation of the network security policies errors can occur, resulting in holes in security and, consequently, compromising the entire system functionality. These errors are often very hard to detect by performing a manual or visual inspection. For this reason, automatic management of this phase is required. Here we propose an algorithm to automatically tune up the configurations of the network devices in order to avoid unexpected and unwanted network behaviours. This algorithm will be described in all its phases and some results of the software implementation will be shown. ©2008 IEEE
