No full textThe research and teaching activity of Orsina Simona Pierini, Professor of Architectural and Urban Composition at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies of the Polytechnic University of Milan, focus on the historical interpretation of the city’s architecture from the perspective of design. Her knowledge of the role of the dwelling in urban planning stems from the systematic study of the different expressions of habitation in contemporary European cities, as well as from specific research focused on modern Spanish architecture and Milanese residential constructions, with particular attention to the relationship between the dwelling and the city. Her interpretation of these phenomena is, therefore, transversal as it involves various different scales and addresses the critical-historical sphere; it’s also a means to define design methods that respond to the needs and demands of current habitation.This conversation with Orsina Simona Pierini is organised, therefore, around certain topics that summarise her experience as a scholar and her personal opinion of the expressions of contemporary collective architecture that define the configuration of the contemporary city and, in general, the current way of inhabiting.La actividad investigadora y docente de Orsina Simona Pierini, Catedrática en Composición Arquitectónica y Urbana en el Departamento de Arquitectura y Estudios Urbanos del Politécnico de Milán, se centra en la interpretación histórica de la arquitectura de la ciudad en clave proyectual. Su conocimiento del papel que ocupa la vivienda en la planificación urbana, se estructura en torno al estudio sistemático de las diferentes expresiones del habitar en las ciudades europeas contemporáneas, así como a algunas investigaciones específicas centradas en la arquitectura moderna española y la construcción residencial milanesa, siempre con especial atención a la relación entre vivienda y ciudad. Su lectura de los fenómenos es, por tanto, transversal, jugada en diversas escalas y remitida al ámbito histórico crítico, así como orientada a la definición de metodologías de diseño que respondan a las necesidades y exigencias actuales del habitar.La conversación con Orsina Simona Pierini se desarrolla en torno a algunos temas que resumen su experiencia como académica y su opinión personal sobre las expresiones de la arquitectura de la vivienda colectiva que definen la configuración de la ciudad contemporánea y, en general, el modo de vida actual

No full textThe dissertation of Simona Mameli explores the potential for deliberation in deeply divided societies by applying the innovative concept of Deliberative Transformative Moments (DTM) to discussions between conflicting groups - Serbs and Bosnjaks - in the war-torn town of Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The concept of DTM is used to analyze and measure the ups and downs in the level of deliberation of citizens’ discussion about political issues, getting at the internal deliberative dynamics of group discussions and shedding new light on deliberative potential of citizens of deeply divided societies
