Language and style in prosaic works written by Irena Dousková
The aim of the thesis is to provide linguistic and stylistic analysis of selected works written by Irena Dousková with focus on use of instruments of nonstandard language. A key criterion for the selection of individual texts was the presence of nonstandard language instruments in given prose. The following works were selected: a novel Hrdý Budžes (1998), a novella Někdo s nožem (2000) and a series of small proses O bílých slonech (2008). The thesis introduces Irena Dousková as a present author of both sophisticated and popular literature, summarizes the themes and critical reception of the selected works, which are further subject of linguistic and stylistic analysis. Based on the analysis results the thesis presents conclusions on trends in proses of Irena Dousková, and thus characterizes the individual style of the artist, whose main feature is a stylization of spoken communication

The problem of the „male“ language (on works by Miglena Nikolchina and Irena Ivanova)
The paper is devoted to the problem of the „male“ language which can be found in the works of two Bulgarian poets – Miglena Nikolchina and Irena Ivanova (better known by her pseudonym Rene Karabaš). The author associates them with the change that happens in literary criticism and the literary production itself after the 1990s. The author considers the synthesis of poetry and prose, poetry and theory as an intertextual „dialogue” through which is possible to analyze the texts of both poets. Thematically, the article focuses on the ways in which the woman gains „a right to have a voice“ rejecting her gender to take up the poet’s word and on how man appears to be a „quotation” in their works

„Panienka”, „Godzina Polski”, 1916: Irena Tuwim’s Literary Debut
The author of the article deals with the poetic newspaper debut of Irena Tuwim (1898-1987), an outstanding author and translator of children’s literature, but also a poet who is forgotten or read only on the margin of the literary output of her brother, Julian Tuwim (1894-1953). The poem titled Panienka (A Maiden), published in Godzina Polski in 1916, is hereby subjected to a contextual analysis and referred to other poems by Irena Tuwim as well as confronted with her existence, also in the auto-emancipatory dimension

Editor as Author; or, on Irena Lukšić’s Editorial Genre
While to the reading public Irena Lukšić is surely best known as our principal translator of Russian literature, her decades-long toil in the field of literature extended far beyond translation. She was a prominent scholar of Russian emigre literature, as well as an exceptionally fertile prose writer and, last but not least, an important editor. The world-literature series In the Wake of Classics, which she edited for fifteen years, includes four rather unusual publications of her own, a kind of by-products of her editorial work. The paper will attempt to answer the question to which genre possibly belong the books Idols and Rascals: Famous People in Literary Works (an Essay), Towns Hamlets Castles: a Guide for Literary Tourists, Classics Left to Cats: an Attempt to Read Literary Texts Otherwise and Feasting in the Wake of Classics (a Literary »Cookbook«) and provide an outline of their relation to Irena Lukšić’s other literary interests and accomplishments
Marisa Madieri, Jan Morris e Irena Žerjal
This paper analyses the ways in which the town of Trieste and its surrounding area are portrayed in literary
works in the period following World War II. To this end, we have adopted a comparative approach in analysing
three novels about the town of Trieste written by Irena Žerjal, Marisa Madieri and Jan Morris, belonging to different
cultural and language traditions. Our analysis applied an interdisciplinary approachgeocriticism and literary imagology as well as the concepts of traumatic collective memory and postmemory. From a geocritical perspective,
we have interpreted the literarisation of the town of Trieste from three different perspectives: the perspective of a
Slovene author (Irena Žerjal)the Western-European perspective (Jan Morris)and the exile’s perspective (Marisa
Madieri). All three authors adopt a similar approach in their literary representations of the town of Trieste, namely
going back in time, which allows them to shift the action from the present to the past, i.e. to Trieste as they knew it
in their youth. In doing so, each author focuses on a different part of town. In those rare occurrences where action
is set in the same places, each author ascribes a different meaning to the location. While the authors acknowledge
the presence of the Other in Trieste, this has a negligible impact on the novel’s course of action
