Orbit design for future SpaceChip swarm missions in a planetary atmosphere
The effect of solar radiation pressure and atmospheric drag on the orbital dynamics of satellites-on-a-chip (SpaceChips) is exploited to design equatorial long-lived orbits about the oblate Earth. The orbit energy gain due to asymmetric solar radiation pressure, considering the Earth's shadow, is used to balance the energy loss due to atmospheric drag. Future missions for a swarm of SpaceChips are proposed, where a number of small devices are released from a conventional spacecraft to perform spatially distributed measurements of the conditions in the ionosphere and exosphere. It is shown that the orbit lifetime can be extended and indeed selected through solar radiation pressure and the end-of-life re-entry of the swarm can be ensured, by exploiting atmospheric drag

Abstract : This research has investigated phraseological units with zoonyms (UFz). The phraseological units with zoonyms (UFz) are idioms that take animal names in its composition, as Brazilian Portuguese idioms ser cachorro sem dono, ser uma galinha morta, dizer cobras e lagartos, etc. The motivation for such research was due to the understanding that phraseology can be said to have an emblematic and recurrent cultural aspect in the languages, and for this reason is every day in ?everyone's lips? which justifies its inclusion in the dictionary. This research has taken as foundation theoretical principles of bilingual and pedagogic Metalexicography and on the interface which it establishes with Phraseology. Its general goals are: (i) identify and describe the given treatment to phraseological units with zoonyms in monolingual dictionaries; (ii) identify and describe the given treatment to phraseological units with zoonyms (equivalences) in school bilingual dictionaries, checking whether the provided equivalences are the same in the 7 dictionaries or differ from each other; (iii) to find whether there are absences of translations of UFz in school bilingual dictionaries. (iv) to investigate whether the phraseological units with zoonyms are present in the collections of foreign language textbooks - English, which participate of the National Textbook Program (Programa Nacional do Livro Didático - PNLD) in vocabulary study sessions. The chosen monolingual dictionaries of the Portuguese language were Houaiss and UNESP. The bilingual dictionaries were school dictionaries easily accessible in bookstores, either for economic reasons, or for their popularity. They are School Oxford (2012), School Longman (2009), School Michaelis (2010), Collins Practical (2012), Mini-Webster's (2011), Landmark (2006), and Advanced Larousse (updated 2009), Outcome: The survey found out that the UFz are not present in bilingual dictionaries. They also have a small presence in the surveyed vocabulary sessions of the textbooks. Another aspect also focused was to discover whether the UFz (present in the school bilingual dictionaries surveyed) received the same translation equivalences. It was possible to conclude that the UFz receive an average of three different equivalences in the seven surveyed bilingual dictionaries

The tectonic evolution and fluid characteristics of gold-quartz veins at the Globe and Phoenix Mine, Zimbabwe
The Globe and Phoenix Mine in central Zimbabwe has been developed down to a vertical depth of 1460m and, prior to effective cessation of underground working in 1977, produced 120t of gold at an average recovery grade of 27.6g/t. The deposit contains a large number of veins with a variety of orientations and is located at and around the contact between granitic gneisses of the Rhodesdale batholith and altered rocks of the Kwekwe Ultramafic Complex. Wide zones of ductile deformation are concentrated within the ultramafic rocks and occur both along the E-dipping contact and along NNW-striking zones. Where the two intersect, major alteration to magnesite-rock grading outward to talc-schists occurs. Early deformation involved ∼E-W compression with veins generated along both the gneiss-ultramafic contact and ENE-WSW-striking, subvertical fractures. These preceded the main mineralising event which involved NE-SW-directed compression, with subsequent veining along both NE- and SW-dipping reverse-sense fractures and major veins (the Phoenix Main and Parallel Reefs) related to an oblique reverse-dextral-sense reactivation of the gneiss-ultramafic contact. A further series of veins which steepen progressively down-dip formed along curved stress trajectories late in the evolution of the deposit. In all cases, veining is restricted to gneisses and carbonatised ultramafics, with lodes terminating rapidly on entering talc-schist, indicating that carbonatisation pre-dated vein development. Within the composite lodes, early, deformed, shear-parallel vein increments are clearly post-dated by later units. In the ultramafics, mutually cross-cutting age relationships between steeply dipping shear-parallel vein increments and horizontal extensional veins indicate the operation of stress cycling in the overall formation of the composite orebodies. Shear-parallel increments formed where fluid pressures rose to supralithostatic values sufficient to cause rupture, increased dilatancy, and subsequent rapid fluid infiltration.</p
The productivity effects of decentralized reforms - an analysis of the Chinese industrial reforms
The empirical literature on the effects of ownership has not distinguished between the effects of ownership and the effects of control. It has also generally ignored the dynamic effects of various ownership and control rights. Using a rich set of panel data about changes in China's state-owned enterprises, the author examines the static and dynamic effects of decentralizing ownership and control rights. He finds that productivity and growth rates improved significantly when reform improved the incentives for managers and employees to learn and to work hard - for example by decentralizing the rights to control wages, make production decisions, and appoint new managers. Increasing profit-retention rates and adopting performance contracts - conventionally viewed as the most important reforms for China's state enterprises - did not improve productivity much. Overall, decentralization accounted for a least 42 percent of productivity growth in Chinese state enterprises in the 1980s. Much of that gain came from improvements in the growth rate of productivity rather than in improved levels of productivity.Labor Policies,Economic Theory&Research,Environmental Economics&Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Public Health Promotion,Economic Theory&Research,Environmental Economics&Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Health Monitoring&Evaluation,Municipal Financial Management
