No full textThe paper traces the events that led to the publication of the Catalogus historico-criticus Romanarum editionum saeculi XV – which the Dominican Giovanni Battista Audiffredi published in the context of the dispute with the French Francois-Xavier Laire and his essay on Roman typography – through the correspondence between the librarian of the Casanatense Library and the Augustinian Tommaso Verani. At the same time, the paper offers a picture of the erudite studies conducted by Verani and of the reorganizations he carried out in the archives and libraries of the Observant Congregation of Lombardy, activities that allowed him to come into contact with some of the greatest intellectuals of the Italian 18th century

The literary academy of Arcadia and Queen Christina
No full textIn 1690, the literary academy of Arcadia was founded in Rome, under the patronage of Queen Christina of Sweden, by Giovanni Vincenzo Gravina and Giovanni Mario Crescimbeni. The Academy, one of the greatest literary expressions of Neoclassicism in Italy, had Pietro Metastasio among its most representative poets. Currently the book and archival heritage of the Arcadia is kept in the Angelica Library in Rome, where the Academy is located. Among the preserved 18th century manuscripts, many collect a large number of letters exchanged between the academics. Other letters are kept in the Academy's Archive. The treatment of this material is very complicated: the letters in fact often contain the first draft of poetic texts subsequently edited. A heritage that the Academy wants to enhance today cataloging in the manuscripts catalog of the Italian State: the database "Manus Online". What is the best way to organize the catalog's data? How to relate the letters owned by the Academy of Arcadia and those kept in other institutions, not only libraries but also archives? Can the full digitization support the knowledge and study of this material? The cataloging treatment of the letters of the Arcadia Academy and the poetic texts contained in them constitutes an interesting “study case” for a theoretical reflection on the cataloging of this “border material”

No full texthe paper intends to offer a biographical and intellectual profile of the Augustinian Tommaso Verani (Turin 1729-Chieri 1803). Leading exponent of the Observant Congregation of Lombardy, Verani rearranged and described important Augustinian archives and libraries in central and northern Italy; moreover, thanks to his historical-erudite and bibliographic studies, he was in contact with well-known intellectuals of the second half of the Eighteenth Century, including the Jesuit Girolamo Tiraboschi and the Dominican Giovanni Battista Audiffredi. The paper is followed by the complete transcription of Verani’s
autobiography, preserved in the ms. Bosio 132 of the Central Civic Library of Turin. In fact, this text constitutes an important source not only for reconstructing the life and interests of Tommaso Verani, but also provides numerous information about the history of the Observant Congregation of Lombardy and the Italian socio-cultural panorama of the Eighteenth Century
Un affresco di carta: la comunità ebraica romana dalla ghettizzazione alla presa di Roma
No full textL’Archivio Storico della Comunità Ebraica di Roma “Giovanni Spizzichino” (ASCER), sito all’interno del Tempio maggiore della città, conserva una ricchissima documentazione riguardante la comunità ebraica romana dal Medioevo al secondo dopoguerra. L’inventariazione e descrizione di parte di questo patrimonio archivistico, e in particolare della sottoserie Legislazione del fondo “Università di Roma”, permette di ricostruire la vita dell’Universitas Hebreorum Urbis attraverso gli ultimi anni del Medioevo, il periodo della ghettizzazione fino all’emancipazione, con il passaggio della città al neoformato Regno d’Italia. La puntuale descrizione archivistica di questo agglomerato documentario si accompagna quindi alla ricostruzione, quasi impressionistica, suggerita dalle carte, le quali, superati i formalismi propri della scrittura documentaria, permettono di intravedere uno scorcio di quella che fu la quotidianità di una delle minoranze più rilevanti della storia di Roma; una comunità che, sebbene mai veramente accettata dalla maggioritaria componente cristiana, non fu mai del tutto esclusa dalla vita della città, grazie ad una fitta rete di rapporti personali, economici e di condivisione degli spazi del tessuto urbano. Una convivenza, quella che emerge dalle carte conservate, che fu sicuramente talvolta conflittuale, ma mai assente, contribuendo in maniera decisiva a modellare i luoghi e la cultura di Roma. Il lavoro di ricerca si concentra in particolare sull’arco cronologico che va dagli ultimi anni del Medioevo, gli ultimi “liberi” per la comunità romana, fino alla ghettizzazione stabilita nel 1555 dalla bolla Cum nimis absurdum di Paolo IV Carafa. Un periodo di transizione che vide profonde modificazioni della vita degli ebrei romani e del tessuto urbano da essi abitato

Preliminary Results of a Survey of Farm Animal Biodiversity Conservation Actions in Europe Under the Framework of Agenda 2000
No full textIn this paper we report on preliminary results of a research aimed to examine the content of farm animal biodiversity conservation actions currently under implementation in the European Union in the framework of EU Agenda 2000. In particular, we surveyed sixty-three Rural Development Plans (RDPs) set up in twelve countries in application of EEC regulations 1257/99 and 1750/99. Our analysis focused on endangered breeds of six major livestock species included in the RDPs. This analysis, which is based on the comparison with the indicator's status of the DAD-IS FAO database, allowed to identify priorities in conservation efforts in each country, and estimate the level of expected public expenditure needed to ensure the moving of breeds from at-risk (of extinction) status to not-at-risk status over the period 2000-2006.farm animal biodiversity, Agenda 2000, Rural Development Plans., Livestock Production/Industries, Q18, Q20,

No full textIl saggio è costituito da due parti, la prima delle quali, dedicata alla fondazione della Federazione italiana delle biblioteche circolanti cattoliche, è stata pubblicata nel precedente numero dei «Nuovi Annali», XXVII (2013), pp. 137-163. In questa seconda parte viene delineata la figura intellettuale di Giovanni Casati, che diresse la «Rivista di letture» dal 1912 al 1944, trasformando il periodico della Federazione in una rivista impegnata nella divulgazione della cultura cattolica. A questo impegno militante Casati fece corrispondere un intenso programma editoriale, che trovò espressione nella pubblicazione di saggi letterari, di manuali e opere repertoriali.The study consists of two parts; the first is dedicated to the history of the Federazione italiana delle biblioteche circolanti cattoliche since its foundation (1904) up to 1912 and was published in the previous volume of the «Nuovi Annali », XXVII (2013), pp. 137-163. In this second part, the author outlines the intellectual figure of Giovanni Casati, who directed the «Rivista di letture» from 1912 to 1944, transforming the magazine of the Federation in a journal engaged in the spreading of Catholic culture. To this militant engagement Casati matched an intense publishing program, which found its expression in the publication of literary essays, manuals and reference works
A spatial micro-econometric approach to estimating climate change impacts on wine firm performance: A case study from Moldavia region, Romania
No full textThis article proposes a micro-econometric approach to assess climate change impacts on wine industry performance in the Moldavia region of Romania. In the assessment we consider the spatial variability of wine-growing micro-areas and employ a small scale for the analysis. Results show that vineyard revenue is influenced by a local effect. Spatial differences among municipalities are highlighted and are driven by vineyard locations and distance from urban areas. Differences at the local scale reflect the presence of structural and environmental constraints. Findings demonstrate that climate change impacts vary significantly among simulated scenarios. The simulated increase in temperature should compensate for the negative effect caused by rainfall changes. Results also suggest that winegrowers should benefit from climate change, although this will depend on the vineyard's location. Potential policy measures designed to remove local constraints and to capitalise on the
positive effects of climate change are discussed
