Khoda Box Sai's Shyama Sangeet : Character and Distinctiveness
In the Post-Lalon period, Khoda Box Sai (1928-1990) has a prominent position in the genre of Baul music in Bangladesh. Like Lalon, Khoda Box Sai's songs are also varied. Especially his Shyama music has special features. Khoda Box Sai was a Muslim by birth; was a follower of Islam. After his debut as a Baul, a kind of change took place in his ideology. He has freed himself from communal discrimination and has revealed his own identity by composing and performing music in the style of Hindu, Vaishnava, and Shakta verses. There may be other reasons too, and that is after initiation in Baulm, he stayed in the homes of many people Hindu and made sadhusango with them. As a result, Krishna's group songs, Vaishnava songs, and Shyama songs have a special space in his music. In this article, the nature and uniqueness of Khoda Box Sai's Shyama Sangeet have been analyzed from the point of view of folk culture. On India’s plunge into nanotechnology: What are good ways to catch-up?
Introduction Like Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and biotechnology, nanotechnology is a generic, platform technology with potential applications in many industrial sectors. Given the worldwide impact of ICT and biotechnology, and the announced glory of nanotechnology, it is no wonder that both developed and developing countries with established scientific capabilities are plunging to take part in the nanotechnology race — following the lead of the US in terms of high-public investment. However, the players have started the race at substantially different times. Furthermore, they do not have the same knowledge base, equipment, or scientific and technological capabilities; and the opportunity cost of every unit of funds diverted into this endeavor is higher for developing countries with a high poverty burden. In such a context, how should a developing country like India attempt to compete in the nanotechnology race? What are the trade-offs between the different trajectories for catching up? These are the questions that we explore in this chapter. The “catch-up” literature of the evolutionary school of economics refers to a stream of rich and well documented historical case studies on the “catching up” processes of follower countries to build industrial capabilities. One of the factors repeatedly noted in these works as having been favorable to the catch-up process in knowledge intensive sectors, is the international and sectoral diffusion of technology i.e., a quasi-free access to international knowledge pools
Antioxidant potential and polyphenols analysis of medicinal herb Ocimum tenuiflorum (Shyama Tulsi)
Ocimum tenuiflorum considered the queen of herbs, is a clinically proven medicinal plant. O.tenuiflorum has two varients: Shyama Tulsi and Rama Tulsi. Yet, no clear record of polyphenols in Shyama Tulsi is available in the literature. So, the present study aimed to analyse the antioxidant potential and polyphenolic content of O.tenuiflorum (Shyama Tulsi). The leaves were procured from the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, College of Agriculture at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (CCS HAU), Hisar, India and extracted with 50 % methanol (OtM) and sequentially fractionated with n-hexane (OtH), ethyl acetate (OtE) and n-butanol (OtB). Total phenolic and flavonoid content was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu Colorimetric method; and the aluminum chloride using the Colorimetric method. The antioxidant potential was evaluated through DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), ABTS (2,2’-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and FRAP (Ferric reducing antioxidant power) assay, using ascorbic acid as a positive control. The study revealed that total phenolic and flavonoid content were highest in methanol extract, i.e. 863.63±0.17 mg GAE/g, 310.16±0.25 mg QE /g, followed by n-butanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane. The antioxidant potential was highest in the n-butanol fraction compared to all other fractions. HR-LCMS profiling of OtB and OtE showed the presence of different polyphenols like 6-C-Galactosylluteolin, quercitrin, apigenin 4’-O-glucoside, caffeic acid, myricitrin, kaempferol and their derivatives. The presence of different polyphenols and the higher antioxidant activity of this medicinal herb make it an alternative source for treating various ailments and human health problems.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
