Design and development of smart data dissemination system
This project cannot be completed without the great mentorship of the author’s supervisor, Prof Perry Shum Ping. Hence, the author would like to appreciate his expertise, understanding and generous guidance throughout the process. Especially during Prof Shum’s busy schedule, he still made time to meet the author weekly for project update and give his suggestion on the progress. He not only directed and supervised the author, but also provided pragamtic solution on applying theoretical knowledge onto the real practice.
Moreover, the author would like to express her sincere graditude to her co- supervisor, Dr. Shao Xuguang, for inspiring the student by regular catch up and building the student community to boost the interactive communication within fellow FYP participants.
The appreciation also goes to Du Hao, a current staff in School of Electrical and Electronics, for his constant support and guidance on the technical aspects of the project, as well as the sharing of his previous experience.
Last but not least, the author would like to indicate her deepest gratitude toward School of Electrical and Electronics and Nanyang Technological University, for providing the wonderful academic ambience and the most significant education to the author and trained her to be such a professional in software engineering industry.Bachelor of Engineerin
Design and development of HTML5 hybrid mobile application
Websites are designed for numerous applications, for education, information-sharing, e-commerce, personal, organizational etc. In my current project, my main focus is to design a website for Professor Shum Ping and it is aimed to be a connecting platform for students to professor, professor to professor and professor to others. The professor website should be able to display general information about him, the list of academic and research achievements, recent publications, news updates and upcoming events. Login page should also be available to allow registered users to login so as to create, modify and delete publications.Bachelor of Engineerin
Development of a website for logistic sharing economy
This project was planned by me and my senior Heng JiaHuan, who noticed the issue of inconvenient of logistic services from China to Singapore, we found the increasing frequency of people asking for whether anyone is coming back to Singapore in Wechat group to help bring back some product from China in the past few years.
Research had been done on this problem and I discuss with my supervisor Dr. Shum Ping. And I decide to work on this as my final year project. This report explains the technology solution towards this problem.
The solution towards this problem is a web base logistic sharing services, it was developed by using the sharing economy philosophy. The mission is that let student fit fight to repacked their small package to a bigger package and share their hall as pick up station. So the problem becomes to build an online platform and make the mission possible. What’s more, from the data collected we can digest want they want most from China.
The project has been attracting a lot of attention in the group of foreign Student. This system now has more than 1000 registered users amount NTU, and 17888 packages have been transported when I write the report.Bachelor of Engineerin
Harmonic generation via chi3 intermodal phase matching in microfibers
Intermodally phase matched up- and down-conversion processes based on the third order nonlinearity have been proposed to efficiently generate light in the UV and mid-IR wavelength regions in solid core silica optical fibers and optical microfibers. We study waveguide parameters and practical considerations required for optimum conversion
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Design and implementation of escape game room in EEE
The purpose of this report is to showcase what the author experienced and learned throughout the entire journey in doing the Final Year Project (FYP) in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) 2017/2018. This report will be presenting the author’s FYP on setting up an outdoor escape game event, named ‘Xperience@EEE’, with different puzzles that were carefully designed and planned by her. In cooperating with other FYP teams, together with the outdoor and indoor escape games, all these segments will be showcasing in NTU or to the public, in the future events that are organize by NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). Fortunately, both Outdoor Escape Puzzles and Indoor Escape Room games has been showcased in NTU 2018 Alumni Reunion event which was held on 24th March 2018. Throughout this journey, the author and her team had come together and made this event a successful one.Bachelor of Engineerin
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Design of optical fiber based functional devices for imaging applications
In this project, a double clad fiber coupler (DCFC) has be designed and optimized for enhanced performance of imaging applications. Two methods of coupler design have been studied – side polished optical fiber based DCFC and V-groove optical fiber based DCFC. By using R-soft CAD and Matlab software, the author construct the structure and simulations have been carried out. Factors such as polished depth, V-groove depth, V-groove angle, and wavelength effect have been discussed as well.Bachelor of Engineerin
