    The subfamily Phrudinae of Ichneumonidae has not been recorded from Taiwan. This paper presents 5 genera and 11 species from this island. Two known species, Phrudus monilicornis Bridgman and Earobia paradoxus Perkins are new to Taiwan, and 9 species namely Brachyscieroma townesi Chiu, B. umbilici Chiu, Lygurus marjoriae Chiu, Phrudus longius Chiu, P. montanus Chiu, P. angustus Chiu, P. linorum Chiu, Astrenis granum Chiu, and A. densa Chiu are new to science. 福姬蜂亞科(Subfamily Phrudinae)乃姬蜂科中之一小科。體型甚小,僅知其係甲蟲類民蟲之內寄生(internal parasitoid)。該亞科妒蜂全球記載10屬(genus),零星分布於舊北區(Palearctic Region ),新北區(Nearctic Region),新熱帶區(Ethiopian Region),及東洋區(Oriental Region)。本省尚無記錄。 本文記載本省產之福姬蜂亞科5囑、11種內合2新記錄種(new record), Phrodus monilicornis Bridgman 與Earobia paradoxus Perkins,及9新種(new species),分別為Brachysleroma townesi Chiu, B. umbilici Chiu; Lygurus marjoriae Chiu; Phrudos longius Chiu, P . montanus Chiu, P. angustos Chiu, P. linorum Chiu; Astrenis granum Chiu 及A. densa Chiu.全部標本均從本省高山森林用掃網採得,而L. marjoriae Chiu 與E. paradoxus Perkins 係借自美國昆蟲學研究所,其餘標本均保存於臺灣省農業試驗所昆蟲標本館

    Aphids in subtropical countries apparently take anholocycle year round. The loss caused by aphid transmitted virus is much greater than direct infestation by aphids. This report presents 8 major aphids of citrus, vegetables and tobacco. Their parasites and predators were also surveyed. The parasites such as Aphidius gifuensis, Ephedrus persicae, Aphelinus sp. of green peach aphid and Trioxys colimunis of cotton aphid have already been introduced to the United States. The most active predators in checking aphid population are Lgmnia swinhoei in citrus groves, Coccine!la seplempunctata bruckil and Menochilus sexmaculatus in cruciferous vegetable fields. Hoverflies are uncertain due to different species occurring in different seasons, while predacious activity of aphis-lions is inferior to coccinellids and hoverflies. Citrus black aphid, Toxopera citricida is a major citrus aphid which is toxic to most species of coccinellids and all species of aphis, lions except Lemnia sw!nhoei, L. biplagiata, Propylaea jajtonica, Coelophora chinensis and Scymnus spp. However, many species of hoverflies are unaffected. Turnip aphid, Lip2phis erysmi is toxic to the larvae of the above 2 species of Lemnia but it is not harmful to other aphid-feeding coccinellids. Consequently, using indigenous predators or parasites for biological control of citrus and vegetables aphids would not be successful in Taiwan. The systemic insecticide, Azodrin WSC was shown to be a good chemical for bark treatment of citrus. The painting began at the start of the growth flush and repeated 7-10 days later. It is not only used to control young foliage insects such as aphids, leaf miner, whiteflies, jumping plant lice, mealy bugs, soft scales, armored scales, stink bugs and red mite, but also to reduce citrus dogs infestation. Bark treatment instead of spraying could also preserve the natural enemies of citrus insects and avoid the side effect of the citrus mite problem
