Effect of electrical current on the oxidation behavior of electroless nickel-plated ferritic stainless steel in solid oxide fuel cell operating conditions

No full text
Planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems often employ metallic interconnects, which separate and connect individual cells in electrical series to create a stack. Coated and uncoated ferritic stainless steels (FSSs), are reported among the most promising materials currently being investigated for interconnect applications. In this study, FSS AISI 441 samples coated with electroless nickel (â1⁄425 Î1⁄4m) were subjected to intermediate temperature IT-SOFC operating conditions at 700 °C for 500 h with and without the application of electrical current (0.5 Acmâ2). The application of the electric current promotes Fe migration on both the cathode and the anode side. This phenomenon results in the formation of a â1⁄44 Î1⁄4m thick Fe2O3on the anode side responsible for increased ASR values. Comparative analyses of the current and no current exposures and resultant surface oxide layers, along with suspected mechanisms and implications are presented and discussed

A Study of the Classical Landscape at the Wang River Villa of Wang Wei

The landscape of Wang Wei's Wang River Villa is examined by reviewing the essays and papers written about the poetical collaboration, the “Wang River Collection.” The purpose of this paper is to clarify the meaning of villa architecture in China. The author expects that this research will contribute to a mutual understanding between cultures. The villa was a Utopia for Wang. On the other hand, he was a pious Buddhist and Buddhistic concepts are reflected in the landscape. I consider the features of the classical landscape of Xie Lingyun and "Chu Ci," as written in “The Collection,” a reflection of the Buddhistic concept. When considering what the classics meant to Wang Wei, it is apparent that his villa is a representation of the classical landscape. It is not an imitation of the classical landscape, but a unique and original creation of art by Wang.departmental bulletin pape

Magnetic analysis of nuclear pressure vessel steels and other ferromagnetic materials subject to neutron irradiation and heat treatment

No full text
Mechanical and magnetic property changes due to neutron irradiation and heat treatment were investigated for the sake of developing a nondestructive method of monitoring nuclear pressure vessel steel embrittlement during reactor operation. Four kinds of samples, including pressure vessel steel, pure Fe and Ni, Fe-Cu alloys and Charpy surveillance coupons, were examined. An automated magnetic property measuring system was constructed and measuring schemes were established. Microhardness and magnetic coercivity, remanence, permeability, and hysteresis loss were measured as a function of a variety of irradiation and annealing exposures. The results were interpreted in terms of dislocation and magnetic domain wall pinning mechanisms and internal stress relaxation. It is found that the pinning mechanisms of dislocations and domain walls are different with respect to the effective pinning parameters. However, stress relaxation has similar effects on both microhardness and magnetic coercivity. It is concluded that the selection of testing material, specimen size and shape, and magnetizing scheme are important factors for constructing a nondestructive testing method for reactor pressure vessel surveillance.Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-07T13:46:57Z (GMT). FIGURE 1. Maximum likelihood tree reconstructed from tef1 sequences. The newly described species is displayed in blue bold. We indicated bootstrap values at the nodes based on 1000 replicates only exceeding 50%. Bar scale represents 0.01 substitutions per nucleotide position. T. inhamatum and T. bannaense were used as outgroup. The tef1 sequence accession numbers are provided in parentheses following the strain numbers. "T" denotes type strains.Published as part of Wei, Yu-Hui, Liou, Guey-Yuh, Tzean, Shean-Shong & Hsieh, Sung-Yuan, 2023, Trichoderma orarium (Hypocreales): a new species from Taiwan, pp. 67-72 in Phytotaxa 626 (1) on page 69, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.626.1.8, http://zenodo.org/record/10150735</a&gt
