Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full text역학건강증진학과/석사연구배경: 간접흡연 노출의 유해성과 심각성에 대한 인식은 점점 높아지고 있으며, 간접흡연과 관련된 여러 연구들이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 간접흡연 노출과 관련하여 사회경제적 위치가 건강불평등 요인으로 작용하고 있음에 주목하고 있으며, 사회경제적 위치가 낮은 경우 간접흡연 노출 위험이 높은 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소득, 직업으로 본 사회경제적 위치와 비흡연자의 간접흡연 노출에 대한 차이를 분석하고 관련성을 살펴보고자 하였다.
연구대상 및 방법: 본 연구는 국민건강영양조사 제 4기 2차년도(2008년)와 제 5기 3차년도(2012년) 자료를 이용하여 만 19세 이상 비흡연자 성인 중 사회경제적 위치 지표와 간접흡연 노출여부에 응답한 2,354명을 대상으로 소득, 직업으로 본 사회경제적 위치에 따른 간접흡연 노출 차이와 관련성을 분석하였다. 사회경제적 위치 지표 중 소득, 직업과 간접흡연 노출의 관련성을 파악하기 위해 Model 1에서는 소득을 보정하였고, Model 2에서는 직업을 보정하였으며, Model 3에서는 소득, 직업, 연령, 성별, 교육수준, 거주지역, 고용상태, 주택소유, 결혼상태 변수를 보정하여 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석(Multiple Logistic regression analysis)을 시행하였다.
연구결과: 소득과 직장실내 간접흡연 노출은 전체 대상자와 남자의 경우 관련성이 있었고, 소득과 가정실내 간접흡연 노출은 여자의 경우만 관련성이 있었다. 직업과 직장실내 간접흡연 노출은 전체 대상자와 여자에서 관련성이 있었고, 직업과 가정실내 간접흡연 노출은 여자에서만 관련성이 있었다. 소득별 직장실내 간접흡연 노출을 보면, 소득 ‘상’ 그룹에 비해 ‘하’ 그룹의 오즈비는 0.58(95% CI: 0.37-0.90)로 낮았고, 남자의 경우는 ‘상’ 그룹에 비해 ‘중상’ 그룹의 오즈비가 8.22(95% CI: 1.21-55.77)로 높았다. 소득별 가정실내 간접흡연 노출의 경우, 여자에서만 소득 ‘상’ 그룹에 비해 ‘중하’ 그룹의 오즈비가 3.99(95% CI: 1.33-11.98)로 높았고, ‘하’ 그룹의 오즈비는 3.94(95% CI: 1.19-13.03)로 높았다. 직업별 직장실내 간접흡연 노출을 보면, 관리사무직에 비해 생산직의 오즈비는 0.59(95% CI: 0.42-0.82)로 낮았고, 여자의 경우도 관리사무직에 비해 생산직의 오즈비는 0.42(95% CI: 0.30-0.60)로 낮았다. 직업별 가정실내 간접흡연 노출의 경우, 여자에서만 관리사무직에 비해 생산직의 오즈비가 4.06(95% CI: 1.30-12.72)으로 높았다.
결론: 본 연구는 대부분 여자에서 사회경제적 위치가 비흡연자의 간접흡연 노출과 관련성이 있었다. 향후 사회경제적 위치와 간접흡연 노출의 관련 요인을 다각적으로 고려한 후속 연구와 이를 적용한 간접흡연 예방에 대한 지속적인 노력이 필요할 것이다.ope

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
