Artysta nowoczesny jako T.W.
The author analyses archival materials from IPN (Instytut Pamięci Narodowej – The Institute of National Remembrance) concerning a painter nicknamed ‘Tadeusz’. In 1973–1979, ‘Tadeusz’ was active as secret collaborator (t.w. – ”tajny współpracownik”) of SB (Służba Bezpieczeństwa – Interior Ministry Security Service). IPN documents contribute to the mapping of Polish art of the 1970s only to a limited extent. Nevertheless, they can form a basis for posing questions on artists’ collaborations with SB. The author claims that the acceptance of collaboration with SB was grounded in Tadeusz’s understanding of art based on the Enlightenment concept of modern art. He argues with a commonly accepted view that experimental art was persecuted in the Polish People’s Republic in the 1960s and the 1970s, and that the communist government showed any particular interest in fine art. In the annex, the author provides a full list of names found in Tadeusz’s files

An intergalactic medium temperature from a giant radio galaxy
The warm-hot intergalactic medium (warm-hot IGM, or WHIM) pervades the filaments of the Cosmic Web and harbours half of the Universe's baryons. The WHIM's thermodynamic properties are notoriously hard to measure. Here we estimate a galaxy group-WHIM boundary temperature using a new method. In particular, we use a radio image of the giant radio galaxy (giant RG, or GRG) created by NGC 6185, a massive nearby spiral. We analyse this extraordinary object with a Bayesian 3D lobe model and deduce an equipartition pressure P-eq = 6 x 10(-16) Pa- among the lowest found in RGs yet. Using an X-ray-based statistical conversion for Fanaroff-Riley II RGs, we find a true lobe pressure P = 1.5(-0.4)(+1.7) x 10(-15) Pa. Cosmic Web reconstructions, group catalogues, and MUD simulations furthermore imply an Mpc-scale IGM density 1 + delta(IGM) = 40(-10)(+30). The buoyantly rising lobes are crushed by the IGM at their inner side, where an approximate balance between IGM and lobe pressure occurs: P-IGM approximate to P. The ideal gas law then suggests an IGM temperature T-IGM = 11(-5)(+12) x 10(6) K, or k(B)T(IGM) = 0.91(-0.4)(+1.0) keV, at the virial radius - consistent with X-ray-derived temperatures of similarly massive groups. Interestingly, the method is not performing at its limit: in principle, estimates T-IGM similar to 4 x 10(6) K are already possible - rivalling the lowest X-ray measurements available. The technique's future scope extends from galaxy group outskirts to the WHIM. In conclusion, we demonstrate that observations of GRGs in Cosmic Web filaments are finally sensitive enough to probe the thermodynamics of galaxy groups and beyond
T.W. Adorno e a psicologia social T.W. Adorno and social psychology
In this assay, the importance of Social Psychology discipline in the T.W. Adorno's work and the specific conception that he formulates about it are pointed out. He defends that there is a new way of individuals' configuration, expressed by standardized attitudes and their own behaviors, such as a fragile ego, which is easily co-opted by totalitarian social movements. Such individuals appear in a society characterized by a form of domination based on administrative and technological rationality. For that author, Social Psychology would have to study this issue so that, with the enlightenment achieved and diffused, the individuals are able to resist to the blind adhesion in irrational social movements, such as the fascism. Adorno empathized that the determination of these movements is not individual, but social
LOFAR observations of X-ray cavity systems
We present LOFAR observations at 120-168 MHz of 42 systems with possible X-ray cavities in their hot atmosphere, of which 17 are groups or ellipticals, 19 are nearby clusters (z < 0.3), and six are higher redshift clusters (z > 0.3). The X-ray cavities, formed by the radio lobes of the central active galactic nucleus (AGN), are evidence of radio-mode AGN feedback. In the groups and ellipticals sample, half of the systems have X-ray cavities for which no associated lobe emission was detected. Conversely, we report the discovery of large radio lobes in NGC 6338, extending far beyond the emission reported previously in the literature. In the case of the nearby clusters, our observations show that there is little low-frequency radio emission that extends beyond the cavities (e.g. MS 0735.6+7421, A2052). For the first time, we report secure cavity-radio associations in 2A 0335+096, ZwCl 2701, and ZwCl 8276 that strengthens their interpretation as AGN-created cavities. However, in some known cavity systems (e.g. A1795 and ZwCl 3146) we report the lack of detectable low-frequency radio emission associated with the cavities. Our sample of higher redshifts systems is small, and unfortunately the present LOFAR observations are not able to resolve the lobes in many of them. Nevertheless, our sample represents one of the best available for investigating the connection between radio and jet power in radio-mode AGN feedback
