No full textSyed Sher Ali Bacha (1935-98) is one of the Pakhtun Marxist politicians who played a leading role in the leftist politics in then NWFP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa). He is known for his scholastic approach toward solution of Pakhtun problems because he drew insights from the Marxist philosophy of dialectical and historical materialism while approaching social, economic, and political issues of Pakhtun. He had resurrected the tradition of study circles in Pakhtun society. He was also the founding member and first General Secretary of two leftist political parties; Mazdoor Kisan Party (MKP) and Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party (PMAP). Thus, his entire political career spanning over a four-decades, was devoted to left wing politics and peasant movements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is explicit in his long struggle in leftist political parties like, National Awami Party (NAP), MKP, and in later part in PMAP. This research paper focuses on his writings on class difference and social inequality, as well as on his vision of creating unity among Pakhtun belt. ROBOTIC REPLICATION OF LIVING THINGS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR WARFARE
Get PDFThe paper discusses nature-inspired robotic replications, their potential military applications, implications for warfare, and the perspective of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Historically, animals have been used in war, helping to turn the tide of battles and the fortunes of many combat soldiers. However, in modern times, there is a growing interest in replicating characteristics of natural creatures in AI-enabled robotics for military purposes. Key mechanics of natural systems, such as manoeuvrability, agility, and aerodynamics, as well as intelligence factors like coordination, swarming, task sharing, and cooperation, have inspired the development of military robots. These robots, equipped with the instinct of survivability alongside features such as self-organization, self-adaptability, and self-learning, are well-suited to navigate the battlefield\u27s challenges and engage in warfare despite the inherent unpredictability and chaos involved. By leveraging the evolutionary advantages of nature, military robots can enhance their effectiveness through biomimicry, as they tend to be more adaptable to unforeseen scenarios. This increased adaptability improves their ability to learn and evolve in response to environmental changes, thereby significantly enhancing mission outcomes. The findings of this research show that, in addition to presenting significant moral, ethical, and legal challenges, rapid advancements lead to the militarization of nature and significantly alter the nature of warfare. The study also provides recommendations for an international consensus on legally binding instruments.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. CONCEPTUALISING THE ROLE OF INDIA IN NORTH KOREA`S DENUCLEARISATION
Get PDFThe US and its allies perceive North Korea\u27s acquisition of nuclear weapons as a significant strategic challenge in the region. Diplomatic efforts have been made to persuade the Kim regime to abandon its nuclear programme, but they have failed. The DPRK considers nuclear weapons capability vital for deterrence against external threats and strategically crucial for national defence. India, a key US ally in containing China, has taken a stiffer stance towards Pyongyang\u27s nuclear programme while enhancing its role in contributing to North Korea\u27s denuclearisation. It represents itself as a staunch opponent of nuclear proliferation and the development of sophisticated weapons. This paper explores India\u27s role in North Korea\u27s perceived denuclearisation. It highlights that India has adopted a dual-standard approach to nuclear proliferation and sophisticated weapons and is also trying to create a technological nexus between Pakistan and North Korea, allegedly to achieve strategic ambitions in South Asia and assert pressure on Pakistan with the help of the US and its Western allies.

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
