Influence of Tax Awareness, Simplicity, and Knowledge on Voluntary Tax Compliance in Pakistan: The Mediating and Moderating Role of Tax Fairness and Social Norms
Tax revenue is one of the principal sources to accelerate government funds. Voluntary tax compliance can play the main role in accomplishing the target. This study explores the role of Tax Awareness (TAW), Tax Simplicity (TSIMP), and Tax Knowledge (TK) in the determination of voluntary tax compliance behavior. This study father analyzes the mediating role of Perception of Tax Fairness (PTF) among TAW, TSIMP, TK, and voluntary tax compliance. This study also analyzes whether “Social Norms (SN)” moderated the relationship between Tax awareness (TAW) and Voluntary Tax Compliance (VTC). The study uses 2000 observations which are collected with two steps stratified sampling technique of five main metropolitan cities (Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar) and their National Assembly (NA) constituencies within each chosen city. The survey “Multi-Stakeholder Perception Survey for the Advocacy to strengthen Demand for Economic Reforms” was conducted on direct taxpayer behavior.
This study utilized confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to address the reliability and validity concern while Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique is applied for empirical investigation of the hypothesized relationship among modeled variables. The findings of the paper reveal that TK, TSIMP, TAW, SN, and PTF contribute positively to the determination of Voluntary Tax Compliance (VTC). Moreover, PTF significantly mediates among TAW, TSIMP, TK, and voluntary tax compliance. Moreover, SN strengthens the relationship between TAW and voluntary tax compliance. The study concludes with suggestions that the sustainability and self-reliance of Pakistan's economy are stringent on voluntary tax compliance of taxpayers. So, the efforts to review tax policies that can develop a simple and fair tax system with horizontal and vertical equity, improve tax awareness and tax knowledge, and educate taxpayers about social norms can help to meet many challenges of Pakistan today
Impact of gold and oil prices on the stock market in Pakistan
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to find out the impact of gold and oil prices on the stock market.
Design/methodology/approach: This study uses the data on gold prices, stock exchange and oil prices for the period 1991–2016. This study applied descriptive statistics, augmented Dickey–Fuller test, correlation and autoregressive distributed lag test.
Findings: The data analysis results showed that gold and oil prices have a significant impact on the stock market.
Research limitations/implications: Following empirical evidence of this study, the authors recommend that investors should invest in gold because the main reason is that hike in inflation reduces the real value of money, and people seek to invest in alternative investment avenues like gold to preserve the value of their assets and earn additional returns. This suggests that investment in gold can be used as a tool to decline inflation pressure to a sustainable level. This study was restricted to use small sample data owing to the availability of data from 1991 to 2017 and could not use structural break unit root tests with two structural break and structural break cointegration approach, as these tests require high-frequency data set.
Originality/value: This study provides information to the investors who want to get the benefit of diversification by investing in gold, oil and stock market. In the current era, gold prices and oil prices are fluctuating day by day, and investors think that stock returns may or may not be affected by these fluctuations. This study is unique because it focusses on current issues and takes the current data in this research to help investment institutions or portfolio managers.

The mediating role of absorptive capacity in the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational innovation in higher education institutes Punjab, Pakistan
This study aims to investigate the mediating role of absorptive capacity (ACAP) between intellectual capital (IC) and organizational innovation in the context of Higher education institutions (HEI) of Punjab Pakistan. This study used a structured questionnaire to collect the data from employees of HEI Pakistan. This study usesa covariance-based structural equation modeling technique (CB-SEM) for data analysis through AMOSE software. This study performed CB-SEM in two steps; confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and SEM analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis ensures the reliability and validity of the construct while SEM analysis was used to test the modeled hypothesis. The study found that IC has a significant positive relationship with ACAP and organizationalinnovation. ACAP has a significant and positive relationship with organizational innovation and also plays a mediating role between IC and organizational innovation. The study will help the HEIs of Pakistan to boost innovation activities more effectively in order to improve their innovations performance. This study enriches the theoretical literature of IC by using five dimensions, human, social, structural, relational and spiritual capital, of IC and by suggesting a new path for organizational innovations. Moreover, a few studies investigated a relationship between IC and organizational innovation with the mediating role of absorptive capacity; however, in HEIs Pakistan context, no study exists. This study can be reproduced in another sector like information and communication technology and the banking sector
Family Functioning and Psychological Well-Being: The Mediating Role of Coping Strategies during Covid-19 Lockdown in Pakistan
This study was designed to explore the relationship between family functioning, coping strategies, and psychological well-being (PWB). It is hypothesized that coping strategies would mediate the relationship between family functioning and PWB. Data were collected from participants during lockdown (N = 224) including male (n=97) and female (n=127) by using a convenient sampling technique. Family functioning, Coping strategies, and PWB were measured using the ICPS Family Functioning Scale, Cope Inventory, and Flourishing Scale, respectively. The Pearson product-moment correlation analysis indicated a significant relationship among family functions sub-scales, coping strategies sub-scales, and PWB. The results suggested a mediating role of active coping between subscales of family functioning and psychological well-being

The Effect Of Demographic Factors And Comorbidities On Ejection Fraction Outcome In Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients
Objective: Left ventricular dysfunction commonly occurs as a complication after acute myocardial infarction. This study sought to explore the occurrence of acute left ventricular dysfunction among patients who have experienced an acute myocardial infarction (AMI)
Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital over 12 months from February 2022 to January 2023. Non-probability convenience sampling technique was used to recruit the participants following informed consent. All patients aged 18 or more admitted with acute myocardial infarction confirmed by clinical, ECG findings and cardiac biomarkers were included in the study and patients with pre-existing valvular heart disease, previous history of myocardial infarction and history of cardiac surgery were excluded from the study. Socio-demographic details and risk factors like hypertension and diabetes were recorded, alongside presenting symptoms and vital signs. Echocardiography was performed to assess left ventricular function, including ejection fraction and other parameters. Data was analyzed utilizing SPSS version 28. The ejection fraction data were stratified into three distinct categories: 1) between 25% and 40%, 2) between 41% and 55%, and 3) between 55% and 70%. The Chi-square test was employed to assess significant differences in the proportion of patients with different demographic characteristics, co-morbidities and risk factors falling into each category. The level of statistical significance was p <0.05.
Results: 100 patients with acute myocardial infarction were recruited. 69% were male and the mean age was 61 years. Most patients (55%) had an ejection fraction (EF) between 25% and 40% and the majority of patients (63%) had acute anterior MI. The coexistence of hypertension with diabetes and smoking was prevalent (74% and 48% respectively), with significant associations (p = 0.000 and 0.02). A substantial difference in EF distribution was observed between anterior and inferior wall MI patients (p = <0.0001), with 71% of anterior MI patients having EF below 40%, compared to 27% of inferior MI patients.
Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the decrease in ejection fraction observed in patients with acute myocardial infarction, particularly those presenting with anterior wall MI
