Shalini Nair Interview
No full textShalini Nair (B.A. 2001, M.B.A. 2010) was interviewed by Sarah Khoja via the Zoom internet-based video conferencing software on August 19, 2022. Ms. Nair was born in Kochi, India and immigrated to the United States with her parents as a young child. She grew up in the Dallas area, and chose to attend SMU after receiving a full tuition scholarship through the President's Scholars Program. In her interview, Ms. Nair discusses her experiences living on campus and balancing her workload as an engineering student with her extracurricular activities. She, along with two other President's Scholars, created the on-campus group Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), which visited local elementary schools to recruit students to visit SMU for different STEM-related events. In her sophomore year, she participated in a cooperative education program and did a rotating internship with Texas Instruments, where she continued to work after graduating. Ms. Nair graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 2001, and later returned to SMU for a professional M.B.A., which she studied for while working full-time. She graduated with her M.B.A. in 2010, and at the time of the interview worked as a program manager in the Dallas area

Full text linkThe rapid growth of internet and its impact on human being is unbelievable. Today internet is being used in every human activity for one or other purpose. Internet has become a fastest growing mass medium. Internet has become a platform for new ways for searching of doing business, jobs, education institutions etc. Job searching is no exception to this, job portals are recent phenomenon. E-recruitment or electronic recruiting is the process of using internet based software to attract screen and recruit suitable job candidates. It is much faster than traditional modes of recruitment. This article is a study of online job portals for Library and information professionals. LISjob.com, GSLISgateway and Infolibrarian.com has been considered for the present study. The jobs posted on these three job portals during the month of 1st November 2007 to 30th April 2008, has been selected and detailed datasheets have been prepared to represent in the form of tables and finally observations were drawn.

Full text link'SainsIT' adalah sebuah pensian Pengajaran Berbantukan Komputer (PBK) bagi matapelajaran Sains KBSR. Bagi tujuan projek ini, skop perisian 'SainsIT' difokuskan kepada sukatan pelajaran Sains Darjah 4. 'SainsIT' adalah sebuah perisian pembelajaran bermultimedia yang interaktif dan dinamik. Perisian ini boleh digunakan untuk pengajaran dalam bilik darjah ataupun sebagai ulangkaji iaitu 'supplementary' kepada pengajaran formalyang berlaku di sekolah. Tidak seperti kebanyakan pensian PBK di pasaran yang hanya memfokus kepada latihan atau nota, pensian 'SainsIT' adalah satu pakej pembelajaran yang lengkap. Modul notanya berperanan sebagai perisian tutorial di mana ia mengandungi nota lengkap yang dipersembahkan rnenggunakan elemen-elemen multimedia dalam persekitaran yang interaktif Modul latihannya pula adalah satu aplikasi latih tubi intensif yang menggunakan pelbagai jeni gaya soalan untuk menguatkan lagi proses pembelajaran. Ciri-ciri utama perisian 'SainsIT' adalah ciri dwibahasa di mana pelajar dapat memilih diantara Bahasa Melayu atau Bahasa Inggeris sebagai bahasa pengantarnya. Pelajar juga mempunyai kawalan penih ke atas penggunaan elemen media dalam perisian dan tahap pembelajaran. Pelajar dapat belajar mengikut kemampuan dan tahap sendiri. Dengan ciri 'tracking' pada perisian 'SainsIT', seorang pengguna dapat menilai dan melihat rekod pencapaiannya bagi setiap latihan dan kuiz. Disebabkan perisian ini adalah untuk pengguna sasaran kana-kanak, aspek rekabentuk antaramuka yang menarik dan merangsang adalah amat penting disamping penggunaan media seperti animasi dan audio.Secara amnya, perisian 'SainsIT' adalah satu perisian pembelajaran lengkap untuk kedua-dua pelajar dan guru.
