Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) strategy is the best strategy recommendation for pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) intervention at the international level and has been implemented in Indonesia. However, the bored may also occur among Medication Supervisor (PMO) resulted medication non-adherence to the TB patients. This study aims to determine differences in the level of patient medication adherence through the use of Short Message Service (SMS) with PMO at Puskesmas Dinoyo, Malang. The post-test only control group design was used on a population of pulmonary TB patients who were registered at the Puskemas Dinoyo Malang during July to December 2012 with a total of 33 patients. The sample were recruited using simple random sampling. The Self Reported Questionnaire and observation form used as study instrument. Fisher exact test was used in hypothesis testing. The results showed non- significant difference between the drug adherence among respondents who received SMS and respondents who received reminders from PMO only (p-value 0.50 > 0.05). Providing reminders at the same time every day, either by SMS or PMO only, is equally beneficial in the success of treatment. Together will increase compliance and reduce the negligence to take medication. Longitudinal design is recommended for further study

Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

ANALYSIS OF FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH BOARDING TIME IN YELLOW ZONE OF EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT dr.ISKAK TULUNGAGUNG HOSPITAL

Patient’s visits in the emergency room (ER) increase in number in every year. The increasing number of hospital visits is directly associated with the increasing number of patients who come to the emergency department. The increased number of patients resulted in the buildup of patients in the ER, especially in the Yellow Zone and causing the boarding time after the inpatient decision was decided to be longer. The purpose of this study was to analyze the problems related to variables that have a correlation with the boarding time of the patient after the decision of hospitalization is decided in the yellow zone of the emergency department at RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung. The method of this research was analytic observational research with cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 78 respondents. The sampling technique used nonprobability sampling. Pearson test and Spearman test were applied to identify the correlation between variables and multivariate linear regression test was used to find out the most dominant factor in influencing patient boarding time after the decision of hospitalization was made. The result of bivariate test showed the correlation between boarding time with room preparation time (p = 0.000), laboratory test results (p = 0.000), diagnostic time (p = 0.000), and ratio between nurse and patient (p = 0.000). Boarding time was not correlated with time of arrival (p = 0.263) and insurance coverage (p = 0.980). Multivariate analysis with linear regression obtained result of constant value (B = 681.212), ratio between nurse and patient (p= 0.000; B = -861.011), bed occupancy time (p= 0.000; B =0.620) and diagnostic time (p=0.022; B = 2.636). The implication of this research is to get a formula that able to shorten patient boarding time after the decision of hospitalization was made and can give a standart time for boarding time.</jats:p

People who have been infected with the HIV virus (PLWHA) faced with the social problem of stigma and discrimination from the community and the surrounding environment PLWHA. It will affect the level of self-esteem of PLWHA. Self-steem in HIV positive is very important so that they do not fall under stress condition that can affect their health. One of the factors that may affect the level of self-esteem is family support. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between family support with the level of self-esteem in People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). The design of this study used observational analytic with cross sectional method. The population of this sudy constitude of 50 HIV positive who are in assisted Sadar Hati Foundation Malang. Purposive sampling techniques was used and sample obtained as many as 44 people. The level of self-esteem was assessed using Rosenberg’s self-esteem scale and family support was assesed using questionnaire. Spearman Rank test results obtained by p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and the coefficient of correlation (r) = 0.545. It can be concluded that there was a significant relationship between family support with a level of self-esteem in People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Sadar Hati Foundation Malang. The line of both variables have positive (+) sign which means that the higher family support is given, the higher the self-esteem of PLWHA

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
