    Agra ichabod Erwin, new species (Figs. 28 a, 28 b) Holotype. Female, COSTA RICA: Alajuela, Atenas, 9 º 58 'N 84 º 23 'W, May, (C. Aviles)(UCOR) ADP 7607. Diagnosis. This is the only species of Costa Rican Agra with aeneous elytral foveae and slightly oblique apex without a sutural tooth; foveae nearly contiguous. Description. Male unknown. Color and luster: Rufopiceous, aeneous. Legs rufopiceous with slightly infuscated knees; venter rufoaeneous. Foveae of interneurs with metallic blue reflections. Form: Head unknown. Pronotum with large punctures along each side of midline. Female slender, with elytra slightly flared behind middle. Elytron with apex (Fig. 28 a) moderately oblique, lateral tooth small, sutural apex rounded; foveae of interneurs large and positioned irregularly, some separated by their own diameter, other coalesced. Sternum VI (Fig. 28 b) of female nearly truncate. Size: small, 12mm in length (length of head estimated based on proportions of Agra monteverde Erwin (see below), 3.0mm in width. Other specimens examined. The female Holotype is the only specimen I saw. Specific epithet. The specific epithet, ichabod, is used as a noun in apposition, and refers to the fact that the Holotype is missing its head and the illusion is that of the frightened Schoolteacher Ichabod Crane’s phantom nemesis, the Headless Horseman, in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon, by the American author, Washington Irving, published in 1819 ­ 20. Notes. The Holotype is from the Cordillera Volcánica Central Conservation Area. This very distinctive species is represented only by the female Holotype, which is headless, however, its unique elytral attributes justify giving it a name and bringing it to the attention of collectors. The head may be described later, based on discovery of a second, complete, specimen.     Brachinus gebhardis Erwin, NEW SPECIES TYPE LOCALITY: Uvas Creek, 5 miles west of Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County, California. TYPE SPECIMENS: The holotype male and the allotype female have been deposited in the entomological museum at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Both were collected by the author at the type locality, on 9 February 1964. Forty-six paratypes (of both sexes) were collected by the author along Coyote Creek, 7 miles east of Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California (below Gilroy Hot Springs). Ten of these paratypes are deposited in each of the following: CAS, MCZ, AMNH, and the author's personal collection Two paratypes are in each of the following: SJSC, UCD, and the University of Moscow. The remaining paratypes have been returned to their owners. DISTRIBUTION: This species is confined to the extreme west coast of California except at the type locality and in Riverside County. It is one of the three species which occur on Santa Cruz Island, 20 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara County (fig. 11). DESCRIPTION: Size. Length 6 to 8:5 mm.; width 4.5 to 4.6 mm. Coloration. Elytra of both sexes blue with blue epipleura; head and pronotum ferrugineus; mandibles reddish brown with piceous mesal edges; antennal segments 1-4, legs and palpi pale ferrugineus; antennal segments 5-11 slightly darker than segment 4; mesepisterna black; sides of abdominal sterna usually ferrugineus but rarely black. Head. Labrum slightly emarginate; dorsal surface of mentum convex, with a seta only at each anterior corner; bead around eyes entire; frons with shallow, finely rugose frontal furrows; numerous setae arise behind eyes and on top of head; microsculpture consists of small isodiametric meshes. Pronotum. Widest before middle with sides deeply sinuate; anterior angles not prominent; posterior angles acute, with lateral basal impressions shallow; lateral margins broadly reflexed; marginal bead dark ferrugineus; disc flat, somewhat rugose down midline and with several setiferous punctures in basal half and a few at anterior corners; anterior transverse impression reduced to a triangular depression; microsculpture consists of small isodiametric meshes. Elytra. Male elytra truncate, widest at apical third, narrowing slightly to squared humeri which are not prominent; deeply costate; microsculpture consists of fine isodiametric meshes; pubescent band confined to 8th interval, but a few scattered hairs occur at apex and in scutellar region. Female elytra similar but wider at apical third than those of male. Aedeagus (fig. 2). Phallus fairly straight; ending in a rounded point; microsculpture lacking. DISCUSSION: This species is poorly represented in collections and seems to be more rare than the other northern species. The pubescent band of the elytra being confined to the 8th interval serves as an excellent field identification character.     Implementasi Ekstrak Daun Talas Beneng (Xanthosoma Undipes K. Koch) Sebagai Inhibitor Korosi Pada Baja API 5L Pada Media Asam HCl 1 M

    Korosi tidak dapat dihindari terutama seperti pipa baja dalam industri minyak dan gas. Tetapi terdapat cara untuk menghambatnya salah satunya dengan menambahkan inhibitor. Inhibitor yang baik adalah inhibitor yang terbuat dari bahan alami organik karena bersifat ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat inhibitor ekstrak daun talas beneng yang kemudian ditambahkan ke dalam HCl 1 M yang terdapat spesimen baja API 5L Grade B dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 0 mg/L - 500 mg/L. Ekstrak tersebut diujikan pada pengujian Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Hasil pengujian FTIR diketahui bahwa ekstrak daun talas beneng dapat dijadikan inhibitor karena memenuhi persyaratan unsur O, ikatan rangkap, dan ikatan aromatik. Pada pengujian PDP terjadi penurunan laju korosi pada Baja API 5 L Grade B pada media asam HCl 1 M. Pada sampel tanpa inhibitor diperoleh laju korosi sebesar 5,8497 mm/year. Efisiensi tertinggi ditunjukan pada sampel dengan variasi konsentrasi 200 mg/L sebesar 74,4766% dengan nilai laju korosi sebesar 1,493 mm/year. Pengujian SEM menunjukkan bentuk permukaan spesimen Baja API 5 L Grade B dengan penambahan inhibitor terlihat lebih halus dibandingkan dengan tanpa inhibitor. ================================================================================================ Corrosion is unavoidable especially like steel pipes in the oil and gas industry. But there are ways to reduce the corrosion rate, one of which is by adding an inhibitor. A good inhibitor is an inhibitor that made from organic materials because it is safe for the environment. This research was carried out by making an inhibitor of taro beneng leaves extract which was then added to 1 M HCl containing API 5L Grade B steel specimens with an extract concentration of 0 mg/L - 500 mg/L. The extract was tested on Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) tests. The results of the FTIR test showed that taro beng leaf extract could be used as an inhibitor because it met the requirements for element O, double bonds, and aromatic bonds. In the PDP test, there was a decrease in the corrosion rate of API 5 L Grade B steel on 1 M HCl acid media. In the sample without inhibitor, the corrosion rate was 5.8497 mm/year. The highest efficiency was shown in the sample with a concentration variation of 200 mg/L of 74.4766% with a corrosion rate of 1.493 mm/year. The SEM test showed that the surface shape of the API 5L Grade B Steel specimen with the addition of an inhibitor looked smoother than without an inhibitor

    Verbesserung der Wundheilung durch wassergefiltertes Infrarot A (wIRA) bei Patienten mit chronischen venösen Unterschenkel-Ulzera einschließlich infrarot-thermographischer Beurteilung

    Background: Water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) is a special form of heat radiation with a high tissue-penetration and with a low thermal burden to the surface of the skin. wIRA is able to improve essential and energetically meaningful factors of wound healing by thermal and non-thermal effects. Aim of the study: prospective study (primarily planned randomised, controlled, blinded, de facto with one exception only one cohort possible) using wIRA in the treatment of patients with recalcitrant chronic venous stasis ulcers of the lower legs with thermographic follow-up. Methods: 10 patients (5 males, 5 females, median age 62 years) with 11 recalcitrant chronic venous stasis ulcers of the lower legs were treated with water-filtered infrared-A and visible light irradiation (wIRA(+VIS), Hydrosun® radiator type 501, 10 mm water cuvette, water-filtered spectrum 550–1400 nm) or visible light irradiation (VIS; only possible in one patient). The uncovered wounds of the patients were irradiated two to five times per week for 30 minutes at a standard distance of 25 cm (approximately 140 mW/cm2 wIRA and approximately 45 mW/cm2 VIS). Treatment continued for a period of up to 2 months (typically until closure or nearly closure of the ulcer). The main variable of interest was “percent change of ulcer size over time” including complete wound closure. Additional variables of interest were thermographic image analysis, patient’s feeling of pain in the wound, amount of pain medication, assessment of the effect of the irradiation (by patient and by clinical investigator), assessment of feeling of the wound area (by patient), assessment of wound healing (by clinical investigator) and assessment of the cosmetic state (by patient and by clinical investigator). For these assessments visual analogue scales (VAS) were used. Results: The study showed a complete or nearly complete healing of lower leg ulcers in 7 patients and a clear reduction of ulcer size in another 2 of 10 patients, a clear reduction of pain and pain medication consumption (e.g. from 15 to 0 pain tablets per day), and a normalization of the thermographic image (before the beginning of the therapy typically hyperthermic rim of the ulcer with relative hypothermic ulcer base, up to 4.5°C temperature difference). In one patient the therapy of an ulcer of one leg was performed with the fully active radiator (wIRA(+VIS)), while the therapy of an ulcer of the other leg was made with a control group radiator (only VIS without wIRA), showing a clear difference in favour of the wIRA treatment. All mentioned VAS ratings improved remarkably during the period of irradiation treatment, representing an increased quality of life. Failures of complete or nearly complete wound healing were seen only in patients with arterial insufficiency, in smokers or in patients who did not have venous compression garment therapy. Discussion and conclusions: wIRA can alleviate pain considerably (with an impressive decrease of the consumption of analgesics) and accelerate wound healing or improve a stagnating wound healing process and diminish an elevated wound exudation and inflammation both in acute and in chronic wounds (in this study shown in chronic venous stasis ulcers of the lower legs) and in problem wounds including infected wounds. In chronic recalcitrant wounds complete healing is achieved, which was not reached before. Other studies have shown that even without a disturbance of wound healing an acute wound healing process can be improved (e.g. reduced pain) by wIRA. wIRA is a contact-free, easily used and pleasantly felt procedure without consumption of material with a good penetration effect, which is similar to solar heat radiation on the surface of the earth in moderate climatic zones. Wound healing and infection defence (e.g. granulocyte function including antibacterial oxygen radical formation of the granulocytes) are critically dependent on a sufficient energy supply (and on sufficient oxygen). The good clinical effect of wIRA on wounds and also on problem wounds and wound infections can be explained by the improvement of both the energy supply and the oxygen supply (e.g. for the granulocyte function). wIRA causes as a thermal effect in the tissue an improvement in three decisive factors: tissue oxygen partial pressure, tissue temperature and tissue blood flow. Besides this non-thermal effects of infrared-A by direct stimulation of cells and cellular structures with reactions of the cells have also been described. It is concluded that wIRA can be used to improve wound healing, to reduce pain, exudation, and inflammation and to increase quality of life.Hintergrund: Wassergefiltertes Infrarot A (wIRA) ist eine spezielle Form der Wärmestrahlung mit hoher Gewebepenetration bei geringer thermischer Oberflächenbelastung. wIRA vermag über thermische und nicht-thermische Effekte wesentliche und energetisch bedeutsame Faktoren der Wundheilung zu verbessern. Ziel der Studie: prospektive Studie (primär randomisiert, kontrolliert, verblindet geplant, de facto mit einer Ausnahme nur eine Kohorte möglich) mit wassergefiltertem Infrarot A (wIRA) in der Therapie von Patienten mit therapierefraktären chronischen venösen Unterschenkel-Ulzera mit thermographischer Verlaufskontrolle. Methoden: 10 Patienten (5 Männer, 5 Frauen, Median des Alters 62 Jahre) mit 11 therapierefraktären chronischen venösen Unterschenkel-Ulzera wurden mit wassergefiltertem Infrarot A und sichtbarem Licht (wIRA(+VIS), Hydrosun®-Strahler Typ 501, 10 mm Wasserküvette, wassergefiltertes Spektrum 550–1400 nm) oder mit sichtbarem Licht (VIS; nur bei einem Patienten möglich) bestrahlt. Die unbedeckten Wunden der Patienten wurden zwei- bis fünfmal pro Woche über bis zu 2 Monate (typischerweise bis zum Wundschluss oder Fast-Wundschluss des Ulkus) für jeweils 30 Minuten mit einem Standardabstand von 25 cm bestrahlt (ungefähr 140 mW/cm2 wIRA und ungefähr 45 mW/cm2 VIS). Hauptzielvariable war die „prozentuale Änderung der Ulkusgröße über die Zeit“ einschließlich des kompletten Wundschlusses. Zusätzliche Zielvariablen waren thermographische Bildanalyse, Schmerzempfinden des Patienten in der Wunde, Schmerzmittelverbrauch, Einschätzung des Effekts der Bestrahlung (durch Patient und durch klinischen Untersucher), Einschätzung des Patienten des Gefühls im Wundbereich, Einschätzung der Wundheilung durch den klinischen Untersucher sowie Einschätzung des kosmetischen Zustandes (durch Patienten und durch klinischen Untersucher). Für diese Erhebungen wurden visuelle Analogskalen (VAS) verwendet. Ergebnisse: Die Studie ergab eine vollständige oder fast vollständige Abheilung der Unterschenkel-Ulzera bei 7 Patienten sowie eine deutliche Ulkusverkleinerung bei 2 weiteren der 10 Patienten, eine bemerkenswerte Minderung der Schmerzen und des Schmerzmittelverbrauchs (von z.B. 15 auf 0 Schmerztabletten täglich) und eine Normalisierung des thermographischen Bildes (vor Therapiebeginn typischerweise hyperthermer Ulkusrandwall mit relativ hypothermem Ulkusgrund, bis zu 4,5°C Temperaturdifferenz). Bei einem Patienten wurde ein Ulkus an einem Bein mit dem Vollwirkstrahler (wIRA(+VIS)) therapiert, während ein Ulkus am anderen Bein mit einem Kontrollgruppenstrahler (nur VIS, ohne wIRA) behandelt wurde, was einen deutlichen Unterschied zugunsten der wIRA-Therapie zeigte. Alle aufgeführten VAS-Einschätzungen verbesserten sich während der Bestrahlungstherapie-Periode sehr stark, was einer verbesserten Lebensqualität entsprach. Ein kompletter oder fast kompletter Wundschluss wurde nur bei Patienten mit peripherer arterieller Verschlusskrankheit, Rauchern oder Patienten mit fehlender venöser Kompressionstherapie nicht erreicht. Diskussion und Schlussfolgerungen: wIRA kann sowohl bei akuten Wunden als auch bei chronischen Wunden (in dieser Studie für chronische venöse Unterschenkelulzera gezeigt) und Problemwunden einschließlich infizierter Wunden Schmerzen deutlich mindern (mit eindrucksvoller Abnahme des Schmerzmittelverbrauchs) und die Wundheilung beschleunigen oder einen stagnierenden Wundheilungsprozess verbessern sowie eine erhöhte Wundsekretion und Entzündung mindern. Bei chronischen therapierefraktären Wunden werden vollständige Abheilungen erreicht, die zuvor nicht erreicht wurden. Andere Studien haben sogar ohne Wundheilungsstörung eine Verbesserung (z.B. Schmerzreduktion) der akuten Wundheilung durch wIRA gezeigt. wIRA ist ein kontaktfreies, verbrauchsmaterialfreies, leicht anzuwendendes, als angenehm empfundenes Verfahren mit guter Tiefenwirkung, das der Sonnenwärmestrahlung auf der Erdoberfläche in gemäßigten Klimazonen nachempfunden ist. Wundheilung und Infektionsabwehr (z.B. Granulozytenfunktion einschließlich antibakterieller Sauerstoffradikalbildung der Granulozyten) hängen ganz entscheidend von einer ausreichenden Energieversorgung (und von ausreichend Sauerstoff) ab. Die gute klinische Wirkung von wIRA auf Wunden und auch auf Problemwunden und Wundinfektionen lässt sich über die Verbesserung sowohl der Energiebereitstellung als auch der Sauerstoffversorgung (z.B. für die Granulozytenfunktion) erklären. wIRA bewirkt als thermischen Effekt im Gewebe eine Verbesserung von drei entscheidenden Faktoren: Sauerstoffpartialdruck im Gewebe, Gewebetemperatur und Gewebedurchblutung. Daneben wurden auch nicht-thermische Effekte von Infrarot A durch direkte Reizsetzung auf Zellen und zelluläre Strukturen mit Reaktionen der Zellen beschrieben. Es wird geschlossen, dass wIRA verwendet werden kann, um Wundheilung zu verbessern, Schmerzen, Sekretion und Entzündung zu reduzieren und die Lebensqualität zu steigern

    Für 103 langperiodisch Veränderliche werden B-R, im wesentlichen aus AAVSO-Material, in Diagrammen dargestellt. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen Form der lichtkurve und Entwicklung der B-R besteht offenbar nicht. Möglicherweise sind geringe Streuung und ausgeprägte Zickzackform der B-R Indikatoren sprunghafter Periodenänderungen.The author presents 103 O-C diagrams of long period variable stars, essentially based on AAVSO observation al material. The LUDENDORFF classification of light curves is compared with quantitative parameters of mean light curves. Obviously, no positive correlation be introduced between form of the mean light curve and O-C pattern. Possibly, some variables with little scattering and strongly zigzagging O-C are candidates for realperiod changes

    Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kreativitas seni lukis batik karya siswa SMA Negeri 1 Godean kelas XI IPS 1. Batasan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimana keativitas seni lukis batik karya siswa SMA Negeri 1 Godean khususnya kelas XI IPS 1. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah karya seni lukis batik siswa XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 1 Godean, objek penelitian adalah kreativitas siswa. Data diperoleh dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Data dianalisis dengan teknik data kuantitatif dan kualitatif, keabsahan data diperoleh melalui validatas triangulasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kreativitas karya siswa kelas XI IPS 1 di SMA Negeri 1 Godean, antara lain: (1) Pada karya seni lukis batik siswa menunjukkan kreativitas dalam penambahan keanekaragaman bentuk motif dan warna, (2) Karya siswa menunjukkan keberanian dalam memadukan bentuk-bentuk motif, (3) Sebagian besar hasil karya seni lukis batik siswa, motif yang digunakan adalah motif tumbuhan, serta hampir keseluruhan siswa menggunakan warna yang kusam pada karya seni lukis batik siswa.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karaker yang terdapat dalam pembelajaran drumband di TK Tunas Gading Depok Sleman. Peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui karena melalui pembelajaran drumband dapat memaksimalkan penanaman nilai pendidikan karakter pada anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengananalisis data deskriptif. Obyek penelitian adalah pembelajaran drumband di TK Tunas Gading Depok, Sleman. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian adalah peneliti itu sendiri. Teknik analisis data menggunakan: a) reduksi data, b) display data, c) pengambilan kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data menggunakan trianggulasi sumber dan trianggulasi teknik Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran drumband di TK Tunas Gading merupakan salah satu program pembelajaran yang berfungsi untuk mengimplementasikan program pemerintah yaitu pendidikan karakter. Sebagai program yang berfungsi untuk memaksimalkan pendidikan karakter, pembelajaran drumband dapat mengembangkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter sesuai dengan rumusan pengembangan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter oleh pemerintah.
