    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     PENGEMBANGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN LITERASI SAINS PESERTA DIDIK SMP

    Hasil tes internasional tentang literasi sains untuk tingkat SMP peserta didik Indonesia berada pada tingkat bawah, termasuk dalam kelompok yang baru mampu mengingat fakta dan konsep sederhana. Kondisi objektif pembelajaran sains di SMP belum menuntut peserta didik berpikir tinggi dan aktif berinteraksi, serta kurang mengembangkan kompetensi sains. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi awal pembelajaran sains, menghasilkan model pembelajaran sains yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains, dan untuk mengetahui lingkungan belajar yang dapat mendukung implementasi model pembelajaran tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan, dilaksanakan di lima SMP di Nusa Tenggara Barat. Data kualitatif dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan data kuantitatif hasil pos tes dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran sains awal kurang mengembangkan cara berpikir tinggi dan kompetensi sains. Tahapan model pembelajaran hasil pengembangan: pendahuluan, eksplorasi, elaborasi, konfirmasi, pengayaan, asesmen, refleksi dan tindak lanjut. Kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik kelompok eksperimen berbeda signifikan lebih tinggi dari kontol. Lingkungan belajar menunjukkan adanya interaksi pertukaran ide sesama peserta didik, dan dengan sumber belajar lain. Pembelajaran membuat peserta didik aktif melakukan investigasi dan berdiskusi hasil investigasi, mengembangkannya dengan konteks kehidupan. Juga mengembangkan kemampuan dalam identifikasi isu sains, dan fenomena sains. Model pembelajaran dilaksanakan apabila peran pendidik dan peserta didik sesuai tuntutan dari model pembelajaran. Disarankan pada pendidik untuk dapat mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran ini karena peserta didik tidak hanya memiliki kemampuan literasi sains tetapi juga mengembangkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam metode ilmiah, keterampilan sains dan implikasi sains teknologi dalam situasi kehidupan masyarakat. Results of international test of science show that Indonesian student of junior high school are grouped in low level position, it means that they can only memorize facts and simple concept. Objective condition of science instruction of junior high school does not challenge students high order thinking and interaction actively, also less develope science competence. The objective of this study are to know instructional condition of science, create a design of instruction model that can improve capability of science literacy, and know learning environment that can support it’s implementation. Research method used is research and development that carried out in five junior high schools of West Nusa Tenggara. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively whereas quatitative data were analyzed using student t test. The results of this study show that science instruction less develop high order thinking and science competence. Syntax of instruction model consists of introduction, exploration, elaboration, confirmation, enrichment, assessment, reflection and follow up. Students’ science literacy capability of experiment group is significantly higher than control. Learning environment demonstrates interaction in idea exchange between students and other learning sources. The instruction make student more active in doing investigation and discussion of results, develop context of material with life situation. Also extend capability of science isues identification dan phenomen of science. The instruction model can be implemented well if function of students and teacher as what instructional model need. Teachers are suggested apllying the model due to students not only have capability of science literacy but also develop students’ scientific method and science skills, and science technology implication in social life situation Keywords: literacy, science, instruction, junior high school, capability

Namun, pertanian itu sendiri dibarengi dengan berbagai masalah salah satunya adalah hama yang menyerang tanaman dan dapat mengakibatkan gagal panen. Terbatasnya kemampuan petani untuk memantau lahan yang luas kini dapat diatasi dengan aplikasi robotika pada pertanian. Dengan menggunakan mobile robot pembasmi hama yang dapat dikontrol secara otomatis melalui layar monitor laptop akan sangat memudahkan pekerjaan manusia. Pendukung mobile robot ini dilengkapi dengan sensor ultrasonik HC-SR04 untuk mendeteksi halangan didepannya. Ketika ultrasonik mendeteksi halangan maka akan di proses melalui kecerdasan artifisial pada arduino nano. Salah satu kecerdasan artifisial yang dipakai adalah neural netowk.Neural network pada mobile robot pembasmi hama untuk meningkatkan performa pergerakan mobile robot dalam segala kondisi. Kemudian data ultrasonik di arduino nano melakukan training/belajar secara mandiri sehingga tingkat error yang muncul kecil atau tidak ada. Maka hasil aktuator mobile robot pembasmi hama bergerak menghindari halangan dan mencari jalan terbaik

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
