Sewing the Body of Christ : Eucharist wafer souvenirs stitched into fifteenth-century manuscripts, primarily in the Netherlands
Books of hours in the fifteenth century occupied several social and devotional roles. People used them to store small objects, including metal badges. Although the cultural practice of sewing in badges was widespread in the late Middle Ages, nearly all of the badges were removed (by later collectors). This article examines the practice by considering needle holes and offsets in the soft parchment, which indicate the shape of the badges and where they were attached. Noting that vast majority of metal offsets in books of hours are round, the author posits that these were not impressed by pilgrims’ badges, as is often repeated in the scholarly literature, but rather by tokens that commemorate having taken the Eucharist. The round badges are the same size and shape and bear the same imagery as host wafers. Owners stitched such badges into their books’ margins at locations relevant to Eucharistic piety. When they were sewn into books, Eucharist badges reconfigured the book as a shrine that recorded a votary’s pursuit of Communion.Peer reviewe
Jan Bytnar „Rudy” w świetle relacji Danuty Kaczyńskiej „Leny” (przyczynek do sporu o religijność harcerzy)
Associating the current dispute in the Polish Scouting Association about the attitude of its members to religion with a similar conflict from the 1930s, the article presents two fragments of the account of Danuta Kaczyńska ”Lena” concerning Jan Bytnar “Rudy”. The first concerns the cause of the death of „Rudy”, liberated during the Operation at the Arsenal. According to “Lena”, relying on the accounts of Jan Wuttke “Czarny Jaś”, the death of “Rudy” was the consequence of the administration of poison at the Pawiak. The second fragment is compiled in the article with a short story by Danuta Kaczyńska entitled Confession. The story’s protagonist – Bitek, who in “Lena’s” account personifies “Rudy”, rejects Christianity and religion in general as sources of his ethical motivation. Taking into consideration who the author of the account is, the issues raised in the fragments should not be ignored.Wiążąc aktualny spór w Związku Harcerstwa Polskiego o stosunek jej członków do religii z podobnym konfliktem z lat trzydziestych XX w., artykuł przedstawia dwa fragmenty relacji Danuty Kaczyńskiej „Leny” dotyczące Jana Bytnara „Rudego”. Pierwszy dotyczy przyczyny śmierci odbitego w trakcie akcji pod Arsenałem „Rudego”, którą zdaniem „Leny” powołującej się na Jana Wuttke „Czarnego Jasia” było podanie trucizny na Pawiaku. Drugi fragment zostaje zestawiony w artykule z opowiadaniem Danuty Kaczyńskiej pt. Spowiedź, które okazuje się utworem z kluczem. Bohater opowiadania Bitek, który w relacji „Leny” jest „Rudym”, odrzuca chrześcijaństwo i religię w ogóle jako źródła etycznych motywacji. Photovoltaic Measurement Using Microprocessor Logger and Current Sensor
Nowdays, energy demand increase every years. Some obstacles stand in the way of energy supply. Some obstacles are energy limitation, climate change and environmental regulation. The change of conventional energy to renewable energy is the future solution. The development of renewable energy is the main priority, based on Indonesian government regulations. The potential of solar energy in Indonesia is very large because it is located in the equator. The research tries to measure solar energy in Indonesia region, it use atmega328p microprocessor logger and INA219 current sensor module. The measurement result is used to determine the photovoltaic stand-alone system performance. Measurement variables are sun irradiance, voltage, current, power, energy and temperature. The research method is measurement comparison between photovoltaic system with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and without MPPT. Sun irradiation measurement with solar power meter is compared with sun irradiation data from NASA. Performance Ratio of the photovoltaic system with MPPT is better than the photovoltaic system without MPPT, the best photovoltaic system with MPPT Performance Ratio (PR) result is 0.93
Model Predictive Path Planning of AGVs: Mixed Logical Dynamical Formulation and Distributed Coordination
Most of the existing path planning methods of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are static. This paper proposes a new methodology for the path planning of a fleet of AGVs to improve the flexibility, robustness, and scalability of the AGV system. We mathematically describe the transport process as a dynamical system using an ad hoc mixed logical dynamical (MLD) model. Based on our MLD model, model predictive control is proposed to determine the collision paths dynamically, and the corresponding optimization problem is formulated as 0-1 integer linear programming. An alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM)-based decomposition technique is then developed to coordinate the AGVs and reduce the computational burden, aiming for real-time decisions. Analysis of Technical and Economics Overhead Transmission Line 150 kV Construction from Mine Mouth Coal Fired Power Plant to External Customer Substation
Mine Mouth Steam Coal Fired Power Plant (PLTU) has a capacity of 2x18MW while the power supplied to internal consumers is 3.6MW or around 10% of the total generating capacity (20% of one generating unit). To operate according to its specifications, the load is increased by operating the load bank. The small internal load and use of the loadbank cause the cost of generation to be high. Excess generating capacity can be sold to external consumers outside the mining area, so it is necessary to build one circuit overhead transmission line 150kV as long 48.38km. The construction of overhead transmission line 150kV from the PLTU to the external consumer substation can increase sales of electricity and can replace the loadbank function. This study aims to evaluate the technical feasibility and economic aspects of the construction overhead transmission line 150kV from the PLTU to an external consumer substation. The research method uses financial indicators IRR, NPV and ROI. Overall, the construction of one circuit overhead transmission line 150kV can increase sales of electricity and replace the function of load bank. The NPV value is IDR 1,604,887,094 with an IRR of 12.53%, and ROI of 9.03 years
