Plenty of food, Sufficient clothing, Proper monitoring of the Key Socio- Economic factors, with commitment to Domestic Productivity were the Essence of the Administrative strategy of Mrs. Indira Gandhi (Late Prime Minister of India). These approaches could be critically related to the remarkable Economic advancement of the Indian sub-continent, with Self- sufficiency in Agriculture, leaving a surplus for export and strides in Industry, Atomic Research, and Space Exploration in India. Abdominal apoplexy: rupture of short gastric artery after retching
Abdominal apoplexy, or idiopathic spontaneous intraperitoneal hemorrhage (ISIH), is a rare but often fatal condition resulting from a variety of disease processes affecting abdominal vasculature. A 30-year-old woman presented with acute abdominal pain and breathlessness and was in class II hypovolemic shock. She had a history of multiple episodes of retching with non-bilious vomiting prior to that. Computed tomography (CT) reported a non-rotation of the gut, gross intraperitoneal free fluid with debris, and possible perforated appendicitis. Laparoscopy revealed a gross hemoperitoneum of 2.5 L, with bowel findings consistent with non-rotation of the gut, but technical difficulty in identifying the source of bleeding led to conversion to laparotomy. A ruptured short gastric artery was ascertained to be the source of bleeding and was successfully ligated. A retrospective review of the preoperative CT showed intraperitoneal free fluid with Hounsfield unit measurements of 48 and 52, suggestive of acute hemoperitoneum. ISIH is often a delayed diagnosis or missed diagnosis due to its low incidence. The presence of vomiting and abdominal pain with hypovolemic shock, especially in a young individual, should raise the suspicion of ISIH, which can be confirmed via early CT imaging to facilitate achieving hemostasis during surgery
SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT : A POLITICO - FINANCIAL OVERVIEW
Do Financial accounting practices as per the political setup and their administrative strategies, pose problems to the pace of Socio-economic development of any nation ? This paper addresses this question with a preview to the dawn of human civilizations on earth, and mathematically cumulating the thoughts of Socio-economic development in four facets, from Individual to National level. Different Financial Management Techniques are used under the two divergent political setups, namely the Capitalism and the Communism. A capitalist setup provides the freedom of corporate control under each individual entrepreneur or a corporate unit (I), under private or government control (G), to function as an autonomous body. using the "Return on Investment" as their motivating guideline. A communist setup represents a centralised approach through individual work contributions at micro level. Under this setup, the national demand is pre-assessed and fixed by the State. The financial management is taken care by the State Bank. Conclusion leads towards irrespective of the political setup, the Socio-economic development is a Three Dimensional Closed Cycle Economic process, namely Manpower as the Prime component, Materials and Techno-commercial infrastructure, in a preset Seven Sequential order. The inference is that the Cost and Quality of Domestic goods and services, decide the status of Socio- economic development. This directly depends upon the proper utilisation pattern of the three ingredients and the Productivity orientation of the Prime component (Manpower). The world experiences support the Closed Cycle Economic process. The inferences are supported with examples from Britain, Germany, India, Russia and USA. Traumatic abdominal wall hernia after impact from handlebar: A case report
Traumatic abdominal wall hernia (TAWH) is a rare type of hernia resulting from blunt abdominal trauma. It develops following the inertia of sudden, high-energy blunt trauma or focused low energy impact. A 22-year-old motorcyclist presented to the emergency department following a collision with an automobile. Clinical examination demonstrated a bulging mass at the lower abdomen, resulting from impact with the motorcycle handlebar. A contrast-enhanced CT scan of the abdomen revealed a disruption of both rectus abdominis muscle and linea alba at the lower abdomen with loops of small bowels and mesentery herniating through the defect, associated with multiple air pockets and pneumoperitoneum. Exploratory laparotomy showed TAWH containing loops of small bowel and mesentery in addition to mesenteric tears. Small bowel resection with primary anastomosis and repair of the anterior abdominal wall defect using interrupted polypropylene sutures was performed. The patient recovered well postoperatively and was discharged home three days later. A follow-up at 1 year showed no evidence of recurrence
Fluid-mediated sources of granular temperature at finite Reynolds numbers
We derive analytical solutions for hydrodynamic sources and sinks to granular temperature in moderately dense suspensions of elastic particles at finite Reynolds numbers. Modelling the neighbour-induced drag disturbances with a Langevin equation allows an exact solution for the joint fluctuating acceleration–velocity distribution function P(v′,a′;t). Quadrant-conditioned covariance integrals of P(v′,a′;t) yield the hydrodynamic source and sink that dictate the evolution of granular temperature that can be used in Eulerian two-fluid models. Stability and Accuracy Analysis of a Real-time Co-simulation Infrastructure
Co-simulation techniques are gaining popularity amongst the power system research community to analyse future scalable Smart Grid solutions. However, complications such as multiple communication protocols, uncertainty in latencies are holding-up the widespread usage of these techniques for power system analysis. These issues are even further exacerbated when applied to Digital Real-Time Simulations (DRTS) with strict real-time constraints for Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) tests. In this paper, we thoroughly test and demonstrate an innovative co-simulation infrastructure that allows to interconnect different DRTS through the Aurora 8B/10B protocol to reduce the effects of communication latency and respect real-time constraints. The Ideal Transformer Method Interface Algorithm (ITM IA), commonly used in PHIL applications, is used to interface the DRTS. Research trends on occupational stress of female employees: a bibliometric analysis / Nafia Sultana, Anusuiya Subramaniam and Wong Foong Yee
The study aims to examine the research trends on occupational stress of female employees between the period of 1973 to 2022 using bibliometric analysis. A total of 508 research documents have been analysed in the study. A systematic process flow has been followed to extract the research documents from the Scopus database. The findings from the analysis showed that the research trends on occupational stress of female employees have ups and downs since the beginning. Based on the highest publications to the related research on occupational stress of women, Finland has been placed as the most productive country, followed by the United States, Sweden and United Kingdom. The most active authors are Kivimäki, Vahtera J and Virtanen in terms of number of publications and number of total citations. Several future research areas have been identified from the results of the VOSviewer networking map. It is found from the growing number of author keywords in the literature are stress, gender, mental health, occupational health and working conditions which have potential literature gaps to work on in future. The results of the study have also opened a new avenue for the future researchers and industry practitioners to work on occupational stress related issues to understand the cause and consequences of it
Managing traumatic testicular dislocations: what we know after two centuries
Traumatic testicular dislocation (TTD) is a rare consequence of blunt scrotal trauma. A 21-year old gentleman presented with inguinal pain following a motorcycle accident and physical examination revealed absence of both testes within a well-formed scrotal sac with bilateral inguinal swellings. Ultrasonography confirmed viability and location of the testes at the superficial inguinal pouch. He underwent emergent surgical reduction with orchidopexy and was discharged the next day. No evidence of testicular dysfunction or atrophy was noted at follow-up.
