Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Mining regulation in the Republic of Slovenia

Avtorica v magistrskem diplomskem delu predstavi pomanjkljivosti slovenske rudarske ureditve v zvezi s podaljševanjem koncesijskih pogodb, pravno naravo Državne rudarske strategije, denacionalizacijskimi postopki, stečajnimi postopki, nezakonitimi rudarskimi deli in hidravličnim lomljenjem. The mining of mineral resources is the prerequisite to economic growth and to the progression of societies and countries. We use mineral resources to satisfy many of our needs. For example, mineral resources are being used as an energy source, they are also used in construction, the automobile industry, and the electric industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed our vulnerability being dependent on the external supply of important mineral resources in this globalized world. The Slovenian legislation should be not only economically effective but should also pursue the goal of protecting the environment. In this thesis, the author outlines the shortcomings of the Slovenian legislation in relation to the extension of concession contracts, the legal nature of the National Mining Strategy, the bankruptcy processes, illegal mining operations, and hydraulic fracturing. The author also outlines possible solutions to these problems, comparing the Slovenian legislation with the Austrian and the Croatian legislation

    Position of agencies as regulators

    No full text
The master\u27s thesis titled Position of agencies as regulators presents the history of agencies and the process of agencification as a transmission of competence from state to independent regulators. The developement of agencies is connected with the concept of regulatory state which substituted the state interventionism. In Slovenia the field of agencies is regulated by the Public Agencies Act, which defines it as an entity of public law to perform regulatory, development and expert tasks that are in the public interest. Public agencies are autonomous and independent from politics, but still offer a high degree of professiononalism, legitimacy at decision making and user orientation on specific fields. Later in the master\u27s thesis the author primarily focuses on regulatory tasks of public agencies in Slovenia. On the basis of regulatory tasks the agency with public power issues general acts for enforcing public power and administrative acts. Lastly the author tests the implementation of previously mentioned tasks on actual regulatory public agencies in Slovenia

Biological effects of airborne pollutants released during cement production assessed with lichens (SW Slovakia)

    No full text
In this paper we investigated the biological effects of airborne pollutants released during cement production by means of epiphytic lichens (SW Slovakia). We assessed the effects of dust pollution on lichen diversity around a limestone quarry (on the quarry-facing and the opposite side of Fagus sylvatica boles) and the content of selected elements in samples of the lichen Xanthoria parietina collected around a cement mill, two quarries and urban and rural sites at increasing distance from the sources of pollution. Dust contamination from limestone quarrying affected lichen diversity within a distance of 350 m from the source. Approaching the quarry, the diffusion of basi-nitrophilous species, the decrease of acidophilous species and the asymmetrical distribution of lichens on the tree boles, with a higher coverage of basiphilous species in the side facing the source of dust were observed. These responses, based on the functional traits of the lichen diversity, are helpful in monitoring studies around similar sources of pollution. In samples of X. parietina collected around the quarries and the cement mill, Ca, Ti, Fe, V, Al and Ni were significantly higher than in the surrounding environment. Calcium was a good tracer for dust contamination around the quarries and the cement plant and a clear decrease in its content with increasing distance from the source was found, with normal values reached within 1700 m from the cement mill. Lichens can be successfully used as indicators to integrate instrumental monitoring networks, when air pollution from cement factories is concerned. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Využití sociálních médií v B2B prodeji

    No full text
This diploma thesis focuses on social media usage in B2B sales. Based on the systematic literature review conducted by the author, he has found out that recent researchers (Salo, 2017) suggest further research in the area of how and in which sales phase should various social networking sites, technologies and plugins used. To further fill this research gap, author decided to identify these social media and their usage among B2B salespeople in the so-called social selling process. The social selling process in this thesis applies mainly to acquiring new prospects and tangentially to taking care of existing clients (follow-up step). Author has chosen a qualitative research method via conducting 10 in-depth semi-structured interviews to reveal these instruments as well as motivation of a sales person on why to use social media in the selling process. The collected data was analyzed using Thematic analysis to ensure the right procedure and to identify main themes which crystalized into 2 main strategic approaches in social selling. These approaches (Push and Pull) include practical examples of concrete activities which sales people can use in their daily jobs and are presented with focus on practicality and ease of implementation. These also form the main contribution of author`s research. In the last part, author mentions challenges in social selling and recommended managerial implications for salesforce

Pro kódování UTF-8 si v závěru článku vygenerujeme TeXový formát csplain.summary:By debugging a TeX document it is necessary many times repeatedly to run TeX, to look for the result in DVI or PDF file, to gander the TeX output on the terminal, or eventually to have a look in the log-file, and all that action to repeat. In the paper it is show, how this work is made by author. The process '‘'editor-TeX-look' is supported by simple Unix tools: bash script texloop, created by author for these purposes, Xterm terminal and a simple editor, which is able to link to the shortcut key the activation of a system command. The reader could be inspired with the solution and to adapt these tools to his/her own needs. In the paper the function of the texloop script is described, and further the longstanding evolution of the author's relation to text editors is informal elaborated and finally a configuration of Xterm terminal, suitable for the czech environment with both ISO-8859-2 and UTF-8 encoding is introduced. For UTF-8 encoding the TeX format csplain is generated at the end of the paper

    The Law and Healthy Food

V nadaljevanju dela sta predstavljeni pravica do zdravja in pravica do hrane. In the master thesis entitled The Law and Healthy Food, the notion of healthy food and the significance of its normative regulation are presented. Even older medical findings confirm the impact that food has on human health and the onset of illness, so it is crucial that, with the help of the law, we ensure the availability of food which does not pose a risk to an individual\u27s health after it is consumed. In the first part of the master thesis, the effect of food on the onset of illness is briefly presented. Since health is of the utmost importance for the economic and social stability of the state, it is protected by food legislation, which ensures a high quality of food thus reducing or eliminating the risks of danger to human health. This is also achieved through the legislative regulation of chemical food contaminants, including pesticides and additives. In the second part of the thesis, the legislative regulation of pesticides, their residues in food and additives is presented in greater detail. The aim of this regulation is to prevent their use in the process of food production so as to stop them from harming the individual who will consume the food. Further, the right to health and the right to food are also presented. The understanding of both rights is described in both international and Slovenian regulation. In the international sphere, the right to food is provided for broadly – not just as a protection from famine, but rather as the right to adequate food. The concept of adequate food was specifically defined by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. In the General Comment No. 12 on the right to adequate food, the Committee defined the notion of "adequate" and also linked the provision of this right to the sustainable development. With this, the right to food has come much closer to the meaning of the right to healthy food. Finally, since the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia does not include the right to food, the last part of the thesis presents the possibility of establishing the right to healthy or adequate food in Slovenian legal area
