Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
UTJECAJ SORTE NA PRINOS KUPINA NA OPG-U ŠPOLJARIĆ
Kupina (Rubus fruticosus agg.) je biljka penjačica iz roda Rubus porodice ruža (Rosaceae). U svijetu je poznato oko 375 sorata kupine, dok se intenzivno uzgaja oko 20 sorata. Plod kupine se koristi u prehrani kao voće, ali služi za preradu sokova, kupinovih vina te džemova.
Istraživanje je provedeno na sortama kupina Dirksen Thornless, Thornfree i Black Satin, a cilj istraživanja je bio utvrditi razlike u prinosima između navedenih sorti. Sorta Dirksen Thornless porijeklom je iz SAD. Plod je srednje krupan (oko 5 g). Thornfree je američka sorta bez trnja i u Hrvatskoj je najzastupljenija sorta kupina. Vrlo je rodna, plod je krupan, težak do 4-7 grama. Black Satin je američka sorta bez bodlja. Vrlo bujnog rasta, plod je krupan, težak oko 7 grama.
Istraživanjem su dobiveni prosječni prinosi kupina u 2014. (14,82 t/ha) i 2015. (16,16 t/ha). U 2015. prinosi su se povećali za 1,34 t/ha u odnosu na 2014. godini. Temeljem prikazanih rezultata može se zaključiti da se prinosi plodova kupine razlikuju ovisno o sorti i godini.
Kupina kao voćna kultura nije pretjerano zahtjevna za uzgoj i jako dobro uspijeva na našim područjima, rano stupa u rod i to već u drugoj godini, visoke rodnosti, te jednostavne tehnologije uzgoja
ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF ESCHERICHIA COLI BACTERIA IN CONVENTIONAL AND ORGANIC PIG BREEDING SYSTEMS
Antimikrobna rezistencija bakterija općenito, pa tako i sojeva bakterije Escherichia coli, rastući je problem u cijelom svijetu do kojeg je došlo zbog pretjerane i često nepotrebne upotrebe antibiotika. Uzgoji svinja nisu izuzeti od spomenutog problema, a rezistentni sojevi bakterije Escherichia coli javljaju se i u konvencionalnim i u organskim uzgojima. U ovom istraživanju pretražena su 44 patogena soja crijevne E. coli izdvojeni iz prasadi na sisi i odbite prasadi, podrijetlom iz konvencionalnih uzgoja sa 6 obiteljskih poljoprivrednih gospodarstava Koprivničko-križevačke županije. Kod predmetnih sojeva je disk difuzijskom metodom istražena rezistencija prema 10 antimikrobnih pripravaka dostupnih na tržištu te su rezultati uspoređeni sa dosadašnjim istraživanjima provedenim u konvencionalnim i organskim uzgojima svinja u Hrvatskoj i svijetu. Rezultati su pokazali najmanju rezistenciju testiranih sojeva E. coli na amoksicilin sa klavulanskom kiselinom (9,1%), dok je rezistencija prema florfenikolu 40,9% te enrofloksacinu 50%. Prema ostalim antimikrobnim pripravcima ustanovljena je značajna rezistencija, koja se kreće od 66,7% prema gentamicinu i cefaleksinu, 73,3% prema kolistinu, 80% prema oksitetraciklinu, 86,2% prema flumekvinu pa sve do 91,3% prema sulfametoksazolu sa trimetoprimom i 91,4% prema linkospektinu. Testirani sojevi rezistentni su na 8 od 10 testiranih antimikrobnih lijekova u više od 50% slučajeva, a 77,3% pretraženih sojeva rezistentno je na 4 i više antimikrobnih lijekova. Rezultati ukazuju na viši postotak rezistentnih sojeva u usporedbi s dosadašnjim istraživanjima u konvencionalnim uzgojima svinja, a visoka rezistencija zabilježena je i prema aminoglikozidima (gentamicin) i fluorkinolonima (enrofloksacin), što nije uobičajeno u svijetu. U odnosu na organske uzgoje u zemljama EU, rezistencija sojeva bakterije Escherichia coli u konvencionalnim uzgojima svinja Koprivničko-križevačke županije višestruko je veća. Visoka rezistencija testiranih sojeva E. coli posljedica je nekontrolirane uporabe antibiotika, bez prethodnog testiranja osjetljivosti.SUMMARY Antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli strains, as well as bacteria in general,is increasing problem worldwide, that has arisen due to the overuse and often unnecessary use of antibiotics. Pig production is not excluded from the above mentioned problem, and resistant strains of Escherichia coli occur both in conventional and in organic breeding. In this study, 44 strains of intestinal E. Coli isolated from suckling and weaned piglets originating from 6 conventional breeding farms of Koprivnica-Križevci County were studied. For the strains concerned, the disc diffusion method was used to investigate the resistance to 10 antimicrobial drugs available on the market and the results were compared with the previous investigations carried out in conventional and organic pig breeding in Croatia and throughout the world. The results showed the lowest resistance of tested E. coli strains to amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (9.1%), while resistance to florfenicol was 40.9% and to enrofloxacin 50%. Other antimicrobial drugs showed significant resistance ranging from 66.7% to gentamicin and cephalexin, 73.3% to colistin, 80% to oxytetracycline, 86.2% to flumequin and up to 91.3% to sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim and 91.4% to the lincospectin. The strains were resistant to 8 out of 10 antimicrobial drugs tested in more than 50% of cases, and 77.3% of the strains tested were resistant to 4 and more antimicrobial drugs. The results indicate a higher percentage of resistant strains compared to studies carried out in conventional pig breeding, and high resistance to aminoglycosides (gentamicin) and fluoroquinolones (enrofloxacin), which is not common in the world. Compared to organic pig farming in EU countries, the resistance of Escherichia coli strains from conventional breeding of Koprivnica-Križevci County is several times higher. High resistance of tested E. coli strains is the result of uncontrolled antibiotic use without prior sensitivity testing
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
