    New formulae for Zagreb indices

    No full text
International Conference on Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics (ICNAAM) -- SEP 19-25, 2016 -- Rhodes, GREECEIn this paper, we study with some graph descriptors also called topological indices. These descriptors are useful in determination of some properties of chemical structures and preferred to some earlier descriptors as they are more practical. Especially the first and second Zagreb indices together with the first and second multiplicative Zagreb indices are considered and they are calculated in terms of the smallest and largest vertex degrees and vertex number for some well-known classes of graphs.Uludag UniversityUludag University [F-2015/17, F-2015/23]; Selcuk UniversitySelcuk UniversityThe first author was supported by the Research Fund of Uludag University project no: F-2015/17, F-2015/23. A trivariate F distribution of Markov dependent F distributed random variables

    No full text
The trivariate F distribution comes out with the ratios of the chisquared random variables. In its classical form it has marginals on ?fixed denominator and arbitrary numerator degrees of freedom parameters. However it was reduced to have marginals on fixed (or arbitrary) numerator but arbitrary denominator degrees of freedom parameters in the literature. In this paper we introduce a new form which has marginals on both arbitrary numerator and denominator but in the case of Markov dependent random variables. We represent the distribution of those random variables and by means of the joint probability density function we study the bivariate, univariate and conditional distributions. Also some graphics and numerical results for the correlation between the random variables are given.URL: http://sjam.selcuk.edu.tr/sjam/article/view/9

Magnetic field effects on the proton EDM in a continuous all-electric storage ring

    No full text
Electric dipole moment of the proton can be searched in an electric storage ring by measuring the spin precession rate of the proton beam on the vertical plane. In the ideal case, the spin precession comes from the coupling between the electric field and the electric dipole moment. In a realistic scenario, the magnetic field becomes a major systematic error source as it couples with the magnetic dipole moment in a similar way. The beam can see the magnetic field in various configurations which include direction, time dependence, etc. For instance, geometric phase effect is observed when the beam sees the field at different directions and phases periodically. We have simulated the effect of the magnetic field in the major independent scenarios and found consistent results with the analytical estimations regarding the static magnetic field cases. We have set a limit for the magnetic field in each scenario and proposed solutions to avoid systematic errors from magnetic fields. © 2019 Published by Elsevier B.V.11sciescopu

    Variations on the Author

    No full text
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Picture of an essential and an unessential self in a comparative frame: A preliminary study on chinese and chicana literatures

    No full text
Comparative Literature which is defined as the study of the literatures of two or more groups differing in cultural background and in language, concentrating on their relationships to and influences upon each other, opens new fields to reframe the most controversial and complicated question of "cultural identity" in multicultural America. In this article, through the study of Chinese-American woman writer Amy Tan's four short stories: Two Kinds, Waiting Between the Trees, Double Face and A Pair of Tickets, taken from her work; The Joy Luck Club and four Chicano short stories:, written by Chicano writers; Lois Rodriguez, Sandra Cisneros, Rosario Magdalena, and Roberta Fernandez, we aim to draw a picture of an essential self and an unessential self in a comparative frame

Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation

    No full text
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters

Differential diagnosis of fasciola hepatica from different animal hosts by pcr

    No full text
Aim: The objective of this study was evaluated differentiational diagnosis of Fasciola hepatica from sheep and goat by PCR. Materials and Methods: F. hepatica were obtained from sheep and goat. These parasites were washed several times with pH:7.4 phosphate-buffered saline and phenol extraction/ ethanol precipitation method was employed in genomic DNA extraction. In order to optimization of the PCR conditions, five primers were selected to amplify the DNA of each F. hepatica. Results: Both sheep and goat were amplified products in different numbers and sizes by RAPD-PCR technique. The results show that different primers gave different bands (fragments) and allowed to identify genetic variations of F. hepatica. These bands were species-specific to F. hepatica from goat and sheep. Conclusions: The RAPD-PCR method can be useful for the differentiational diagnosis of F. hepatica of sheep and goat

John F. Kennedy telegram to Roosevelt

    No full text
Jersey Homesteads (later the Borough of Roosevelt) was established in the 1930s as an agro-industrial cooperative community. It was established specifically for urban Jewish garment workers, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. President John F. Kennedy sent a telegram to the citizens of Roosevelt, New Jersey, apologizing for not being able to attend the memorial dedication in honor of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. (Jersey Homesteads became Roosevelt in 1945 in honor of the president.) President Kennedy expressed his gratitude to the people of Roosevelt for constructing the memorial, and commented that it will serve as a constant reminder of Roosevelt's good works
