Angiotensin II induces soluble fms-Like tyrosine kinase-1 release via calcineurin signaling pathway in pregnancy
No full textMaternal endothelial dysfunction in preeclampsia is associated with increased soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1), a circulating antagonist of vascular endothelial growth factor and placental growth factor. Angiotensin II (Ang II) is a potent vasoconstrictor that increases concomitant with sFlt-1 during pregnancy. Therefore, we speculated that Ang II may promote the expression of sFlt-1 in pregnancy. Here we report that infusion of Ang II significantly increases circulating levels of sFlt-1 in pregnant mice, thereby demonstrating that Ang II is a regulator of sFlt-1 secretion in vivo. Furthermore, Ang II stimulated sFlt-1 production in a dose- and time-dependent manner from human villous explants and cultured trophoblasts but not from endothelial cells, suggesting that trophoblasts are the primary source of sFlt-1 during pregnancy. As expected, Ang II-induced sFlt-1 secretion resulted in the inhibition of endothelial cell migration and in vitro tube formation. In vitro and in vivo studies with losartan, small interfering RNA specific for calcineurin and FK506 demonstrated that Ang II-mediated sFlt-1 release was via Ang II type 1 receptor activation and calcineurin signaling, respectively. These findings reveal a previously unrecognized regulatory role for Ang II on sFlt-1 expression in murine and human pregnancy and suggest that elevated sFlt-1 levels in preeclampsia may be caused by a dysregulation of the local renin/angiotensin system

No full textEl descubrimiento de dos folios de un incunable sevillano que transmite el mismo vocabulario que el ms. Esc. f-II-10 permitió concluir que se trata este del primer vocabulario romance-latín que llegó a la imprenta. Gracias al prólogo conservado en uno de los folios, contamos con más datos para acercarnos al problema del autor. En este artículo repasaré los avances respecto de la fecha y la autoría, para analizar luego las numerosas similitudes que presenta con el Universal Vocabulario de Palencia. Esta investigación ofrecerá, además de un estudio detallado de las fuentes lexicográficas de ambos vocabularios, varias pruebas relativamente contundentes que permiten identificar al autor.The discovery of two incunable folios that transmit the same vocabulary as the MS Esc. f-II-10 led to the conclusion that this was the first Romance-Latin vocabulary to be printed in a Castilian press. The prologue that is preserved in one of the folios offers new data to approach the problem of its author ship. In this paper I will begin by summarizing previous insights regarding date and authorship, before offering an analysis of the countless similarities that this text has with Palencia’s Universal Vocabulario. As well as providing a detailed study of the lexicographical sources of both vocabularies, this research offers several compelling pieces of evidence that allow to identify the authorFil: Hamlin, Cinthia Maria. Constraining f(R) models with cosmic chronometers and the H ii galaxy Hubble diagram
No full textWe consider several well-known f(R) cosmological models and constrain their parameters, namely the deviation parameter b and the cosmological parameters Ωm and h. We first obtain analytical approximations for the Hubble rate H(z) and the luminosity distance dL(z) in terms of these parameters, and then test these against the observational expansion rate derived from cosmic chronometers (CCs) and the distance modulus in the H ii galaxy Hubble diagram, obtained in a model-independent way using Gaussian processes. Reviewing the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (Part II): Priorities for Short-Term Implementation. CEPS Task Force Reports No. 57, 1 March 2006
No full text[From the Introduction]. This report constitutes Part II of the twin reports of the CEPS Task Force on Reviewing the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. The Part I report, which was presented to the UK Presidency on 7 July 2005,1 focused on a number of short-term implementation issues including transparency requirements for the National Allocation Plans (NAPs), the definition of installations, treatment of small installations, new entrants, closure and transfer rules, allocation methodologies, the possibility of opt-ins as well as monitoring, reporting and verification. This follow-up Part II report examines deep-seated topics such as whether the EU Emission Trading System (ETS) contributes to meeting Kyoto Protocol targets, economic impacts, effects on investment and the potential inclusion of aviation. These issues lie at the interface of NAP phase II and the longterm formal 2006 review. Neither of the two reports (Part I or Part II) examines issues related to the formal review of the EU ETS, which the Directive calls for no later than June 2006. Since this formal review, which will lead to an amendment of the Directive by co-decision, is likely to trigger a fundamental and longer-term debate, it is being treated in a separate CEPS Task Force launched in early 2006. After a status report of the ETS and a reminder of some fundamentals in sections 1 and 2, the following sections cover investment incentives (3), competitiveness (4 and 5) and aviation (6). The main findings of the report are contained in the Executive Summary, including Key Messages & Recommendations and an extended Full Summary.
