High Energy Barrier for Defect Creation in Thin-Film Transistors based on Hot-Wire amorphous Silicon
Limited influence of grain boundary defects in hot-wire CVD polysilicon films on solar cell performance
Grain boundary defects in poly-Si:H films have been analysed by infrared spectroscopy, photo thermal deflection spectroscopy, dual beam photoconductivity and electron spin resonance techniques. Complete absence of 2100 cm-1 mode in infrared spectrum is observed in a material with a low defect concentration. The dangling bond resonance line at g = 2.0055 showed narrowing (temperature-independent) with increasing defect density in the material. The narrowing is attributed to Heisenberg exchange at clustered defects. The transport path in a cell is through the grains and the carrier transport bypasses these grain boundary defects. This bypass explains why our n-i-p cell incorporating a 1.5-μm poly-Si:H i-layer generates a current of 18.2 mA cm-2 even though the defect density is 7.8 X 1016 cm-3. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Preface — 10th international conference on hot-wire CVD (Cat-CVD) processes (HWCVD10)
The 10th International Conference on Hot Wire (Cat) and Initiated Chemical Vapor Deposition (HWCVD10), hosted by Kyushu Institute of Technology, was held in Kitakyushu International Conference Center, Kitakyushu, Japan, on September 3–6, 2018. One of the topics dis- cussed in the conference is the recent progress in catalytic chemical vapor deposition (Cat-CVD), also referred to as hot-wire CVD (HWCVD) or hot-filament CVD (HFCVD), which is a category of CVD using active radicals formed through catalytic cracking of source gases on a heated metal wire. Cat-CVD has been used to form a variety of films, pre- dominantly silicon-based films such as amorphous silicon, nanocrys- talline silicon, and silicon nitride, carbon-based films including dia- mond and graphene, and organic films. In addition to the film formation technology, the conference also covered the utilization of radicals generated by catalytic cracking on a heated wire in a Cat-CVD system for surface treatments and etching. The conference had 80 attendees from 11 countries, and a total of 56 papers, including 11 invited talks, 23 contributed talks, and 22 posters, were presented by the attendees
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Transport in tunnelling recombination junctions: a combined computer simulation study
The implementation of trap-assisted tunneling of charge carriers into numerical simulators ASPIN and D-AMPS is briefly described. Important modeling details are highlighted and compared. In spite of the considerable differences in both approaches, the problems encountered and their solutions are surprisingly similar. Simulation results obtained for several tunneling recombination junctions made of amorphous silicon (a-Si), amorphous silicon carbide (a-SiC), or microcrystalline silicon (µc-Si) are analyzed. Identical conclusions can be drawn using either of the simulators. Realistic performances of a-Si/a-Si tandem solar cells can be reproduced with simulation programs by assuming that extended-state mobility increases exponentially with the electric field. The same field-enhanced mobilities are needed in single tunneling recombination junctions in order to achieve measured current levels. Temperature dependence of the current-voltage characteristics indicates that the activation energy of enhanced mobilities should be determined. Apparent discrepancies between simulation results and measurements are explained and eliminated making use of Gill’s law. For application in tandem and triple solar cell structures, tunneling recombination junctions made of (µc-Si) are the most promising of all examined structures.Fil: Vukadinovic, M.. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
