Schnell wachsende Unternehmen, Firmenwachstum und F/E-Aktivitäten in Österreich.
No full textDiese Arbeit untersucht zum einen den Zusammenhang zwi - schen F&E-Aktivitäten und Unternehmenswachstum. Zum an - deren wird analysiert ob und inwiefern sich die Unternehmen - scharakteristika von schnell wachsenden Unternehmen im Vergleich zu Unternehmen mit moderatem bzw. niedrigem Wachstum unterscheiden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen einen eindeutigen positiven Zusammenhang zwi - schen F&E-Aktivitäten und Unternehmensentwicklung (Schaffung von Ar - beitsplätzen bzw. Umsatz und Investitionsdynamik). Darüber hinaus sind schnell wachsende Unternehmen (HGF) innovativer, weisen eine höhere Arbeitsproduktivität auf, haben einen höheren Anteil von Unternehmen mit F&E-Aktivitäten, höhere Exportbeteiligung, und höheren Umsatzanteil von Marktneuheiten als nicht schnell wachsende Unternehmen. Zur Finanzierung ihrer F&E-Aktivitäten greifen HGF unter anderem auch auf die Forschungsförderung zurück. Von den im Zeitraum 2011- 2015 im FFG Basisprogramm sowie BRIDGE geförderten Unternehmen entsprachen entweder während oder nach dem Förderzeitraum rd. 27% der high-growth Definition von Eurostat

No full textThe present article addresses the professional conclusions of an international platform of education in intercultural discourse in the European Union’s EDUC Project. In flagging social issues and concerns, cross-cultural academic collaboration is a powerful tool to bring about social change. In our educational project participants encounter different cultures, so the discussed topics, and especially the metaphors for the Covid-19 pandemic, receive instant reflections from different cultural perspectives, multiplying the potential sphere of valid interpretations, yielding novel perspectives in intercultural pragmatics and communication. This gives birth to a novel methodology that builds on the open-minded integration of different points of view, understanding universal traits of human cognition and differences in culture in the linguistics of discourse

Avoiding Problems of Traditional Sampling Strategies for Household Surveys in Germany: Some New Suggestions
No full textAll of the sampling plans currently in use for general population surveys in Germany suffer from methodological and practical problems. A new sampling plan is thus urgently needed: one with a low cost overhead that can be prepared in a very short time. Germany also lacks a sampling plan covering all institutional populations, immigrants in general, and illegal immigrants in particular. The availability of new databases covering these populations suggests ways of developing, implementing, and testing new sampling plans for population surveys in Germany. One such sampling plan (G-Plan) is proposed here for the first time. The implementation problems of this design must be studied in a number of empirical pretests.

No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Pushforwards of pluricanonical bundles under morphisms to abelian varieties
No full textLet f : X -> A be a morphism from a smooth projective variety to an abelian variety (over the field of complex numbers). We show that the sheaves f(*)omega(circle times m)(X) become globally generated after pullback by an isogeny. We use this to deduce a decomposition theorem for these sheaves when m >= 2, analogous to that obtained by Chen-Jiang when m = 1. This is in turn applied to effective results for pluricanonical linear series on irregular varieties with canonical singularities
