When Healing Turns to Activism: Formers and Family Members’ Motivation to Engage in P/CVE.
The involvement of former extremists or family members of terrorists in measures aimed at preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) has recently gained more attention in research and practice. However, little is yet known about the motivations of these individuals as to why they chose to engage in P/CVE activities. Understanding what drives such engagement could provide a better appreciation of the potential impact of such deployment, whether beneficial or detrimental to both the individuals involved and their respective P/CVE-target audience – and contribute to the evolving discourse regarding the effectiveness and potential risks of such P/CVE interventions. This article draws on eight biographical-narrative interviews with four former right-wing extremists and with four relatives of jihadist foreign fighters, all of whom are currently engaged in P/CVE work. Through qualitative reconstructive methods, a combination of narrative and thematic approaches was used to reconstruct the action-relevant orientations for the interviewees' activism. Results indicate that family members are motivated by coping mechanisms for traumatic stress, by social relatedness derived from a ‘positive marginality’, and in response to situational demands. Motivations of former extremists include finding their way back into society, having their new identity mirrored back to them, or maintaining a sense of self-continuity through ‘role residuals’. The results show that, in the case of family members, motivation is affected by exposure to traumatic stress. They also suggest that a locus of control among former extremists can signify different stages of deradicalisation in some forms of exit pathways and thus help to identify different risks depending on a former’s P/CVE role.

Title: How does a corporate culture affect the way an organization is built in Sweden Level: Bachelor's degree thesis in business administration Author: Martin Wadia and Jonatan Holst Supervisor: Alice Schmuck Date: 2023 January Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the cultural aspect within an organization, how it affects organizational structure and when a company with a different corporate cultureconducts business in Sweden. We will examine how a Japanese company adapted itsorganization to cross-cultural differences and analyze whether hierarchy systems create valuefor them in a country where that culture is not as common. Method: This study was based on a qualitative research method. The primary data collectionis based on semi-structured interviews and written interviews. The secondary data collection isbased on business literature. Conclusion: This study concludes that the Japanese corporate culture does not affect the officethat is established in the Swedish market. At the same time as the company that is establishedin the Swedish market adapts as best it can to be able to fit in among other competitors. Thestudy has also concluded that the hierarchy has no influence in Sweden due to the nonaccepting Swedish culture. Contribution of the thesis: The study gives Japanese companies insight into what obstaclesmay arise in Sweden. At the same time, the studies contribute with more understanding of howcross-cultural situations are handled in Sweden. Suggestion for further research: Further research can conduct a multiple case study withseveral Japanese companies.
Nyckelord: Förtroende, demografi, eWOM, recensioner, försäljning, fastighetsmäklareTitle: Can I trust you? - A study on how demographic factors affect trust in Electronic Word of Mouth in the sales industry Level: Final assignment for a bachelor’s degree in business administration Author: Jonatan Viklund & Robert Sundström Supervisor: Jonas Molin & Lars-Johan Åge Date: 2019-09-07 Aim: The aim of the study is to analyze how trust in eWOM in the sales industry is affected by demographic aspects. Method: The study uses a quantitative research method consisting of a survey which dealt with 25 issues in demography and reviews related to real estate agents. In total, the survey collected responses from 100 respondents where 93 of these could be used. Subsequently, the collected responses were analyzed in SPSS where descriptive, correlation and cluster analysis were performed. Results and conclusion: The results of the study show that there are both differences and similarities in trust in direct correlation to demographic differences. two of the study's four hypotheses were verified alongside one partially verified, which answered the purpose that trust in eWOM differs between demographic groups. As a rule, consumers read reviews, younger generations experience greater trust, and gender or education has no direct link. Contribution: The study contributes to an increased understanding of how demography affects trust, in this case specified to reviews in the sales industry. The study also confirms and denies previous research in consumer behavior and demographic issues. Further Research: Further research should continue in our footsteps but be done at a higher level with respondents who reflect society better. Even more specific research is needed for individual demographic factors and a group of factors correlation with trust. Keywords: Trust, demography, eWOM, reviews, sales, real estate agent
A computational solution for the software refactoring problem: a formalism toward an optimization approach
Software Refactoring consists in reconstructing the code design of an object-oriented system without affecting the external functionality. Common refactoring tasks, in the initial steps, detect the source code components to be affected and recommend accurate Refactoring Operations to be applied to those components (an estimation problem). In this document, the author defines, develops and evaluates an Artificial Refactoring Hybrid Adaptive Technique (ArHaT) to estimate refactorings as a combi- natorial model. The author investigated whether Refactoring Impact Prediction yields sets of artificial refactoring operations before implementing them into the code. ArHaT estimates the sets of Refactoring Operations according to some predefined weight values of the quality metrics. The weight values or coefficients capture the developer error-prone knowledge of the code in the objective function. The author conducted several fitness performance evaluations in two open software systems and organized them as a set of experiments. The goal of the experiments is to minimize a ratio between impacted quality metrics and actual quality metrics. Hill-Climbing, Simulated Annealing, and Hybrid Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm assembled feasible refactorings, yet the latter accomplished the best performance. This research establishes the fundamentals of the automation of the refactoring problem and contributes to reducing the gap between the software defect prediction and the software refactoring.Maestrí
