Florance Goodenough created the Goodenough infant intelligence test. The author affirms: the child, when drawing the human figure on a paper, does not draw what he sees but what he knows and therefore does not make an aesthetic work but an intellectual work; it offers not an expression of his artistic capacity but of his intellectual repertoire.
This research project makes a relationship between the achivements of the Goodenough infant intelligence test and the academic achivements of the students who repits a grade of elementary at Rodolfo Llinas school in 2016. From 35 students who repeat 6 of them re fail the academic year for the second time. According to the SIE these students can not be re-enrolled. This sample shows 3 students with normal intelligence, 1 with slow intelligence and 2 with superior intelligence. It shows that there is not any relationship between the achivements of the Intelligence Childhood Test of Goodenough and the academic achivements. However, the drawings of the human figure from these repeating students shows various emotional indicators such as: poor integration among the body parts; incline figure, small figure, hands sectioned or ommited, among others. Koppitz finds a relationship between low achivements and emotional indicators.
The paradox, a dynamic in the Farcical drama in Rodolfo Santana's work Moloch
The work addresses the process of selecting, analyzing, and staging Rodolfo Santana's play "Moloch," a representative piece of contemporary Latin American dramaturgy. It explains that the choice of a dramatic text is never arbitrary but guided by a director's expressive need and the desire to engage with the social issues of the audience. The play is selected as a starting point for an academic process that delves into the study of the farce genre and its relationship to paradox, identifying how these characteristics allow for a deeper dramatic analysis. It also recognizes Santana's relevance as a Venezuelan author who, although not considered a universal classic, offers a living, critical dramaturgy close to Latin American reality.
The document describes a research process focused on analyzing the characters, their conflicts, roles, and the presence of paradoxical struggles within the play. Simultaneously, it reflects on the challenges of creating a free version of "Moloch" without betraying the author's essence, emphasizing the need to construct a meaningful staging that incorporates multiple artistic languages such as music, dance, visual art, and puppetry. Experimentation is presented as part of the academic and creative exploration, highlighting that the ultimate goal of the staging is not to produce a masterpiece but a means to delve deeper into paradox, farce, and the intention to "say" something to the audience through theatrical art

Manufacturers'responses to infrastructure deficiencies in Nigeria : private alternatives and policy options
As cities in developing countries grow, the need to meet increasing demand for urban infrastructure services has become an important policy problem. Failure to respond adequately affects productivity and the quality of life in those cities. In order to make the Bank's lending programs in this area more effective, greater understanding is needed of: (a) the ways inadequate services affect business and productivity in urban areas; (b) the options for more efficiently providing and maintaining the delivery of various infrastructure services; and (c) potential cost savings from improved services. Based on empirical observations, this report suggests policy options for improving the provision of infrastructure services in Nigeria, the first country for which the Bank has undertaken this type of research: (a) regulatory changes to enable greater use of existing private capacity (for example, allowing the sale of excess private electrical power); (b) participation of the private sector in the supply of infrastructure-related services; and (c) pricing policies that are more efficient in the presence of congestion, system failures, and variations in the private provision of services.Banks&Banking Reform,Private Participation in Infrastructure,Microfinance,Economic Theory&Research,Public Sector Economics&Finance
Season 1. Citizen Culture: Prado Centro Heritage District
There is no doubt that the Prado neighborhood is today, the patrimonial neighborhood par excellence of Medellín and consequently the pilot site to understand the dynamic meaning of this word in the city. In our sixth chapter we are accompanied by Mr. Rodolfo Ríos Amaya, a member of the ASOGUIAN Watch Group and is part of the Cultural Heritage Watch Program, and Mr. Juan Guillermo Romero, social communicator and journalist from the University of Antioquia and author of the book "Lives de Feria ", they, through culture, history, architecture and a small animated dictionary called" Prado from A to Z "will make us enter their streets, in their temples, in their houses, in the experiences of some of its inhabitants to understand the importance of the Prado neighborhood at the beginning of the 20th century
In order to achieve that objectives, the research has been divided in three parts. Firstly two chapters were focused on the analysis of the possible relations between liberals John Stuart Mill, Alexander Bain and Ortega. Both Mill and Bain are well known antecedents of pragmatists. The starting point was to understand that Mill and Ortega’s liberalism is not cause but caused by their philosophies. From this point ofview, their common liberalism goes beyond right and politics, affecting other dimensions. Additionally, Mill has been located as an Orteguian influence about the concepts of public opinion or dead faith. Concerning Alexander Bain, it has been proved that his works were read by several authors who influenced Ortega, so Bain can be considered as an indirect antecedent of the Spanish author works. Moreover, Bain was quite important because he transmitted to Peirce and James the notion of belief...Depto. de Filosofía y SociedadFac. de FilosofíaTRUEunpu
Effectiveness of bony batten grafting for correction of caudal septal deviations
Objective: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy of using the Batten septal bone graft intraoperatively to correct anterior septal deviations that covers Zone 1 and Zone 2 as proposed by Cottle using the NOSE scale. Methods: To this end, 30 patients with anterior septal deviations who underwent Functional Rhinoseptoplasty surgery from February 2019 to May 2023 and used septal bone grafting to correct the deviation were collected in a clinical study at the Otorhinolaryngology Department of a tertiary hospital in São Paulo. Results: There was a reduction in the Nose Scale from 75.5% to 17.3% in patients who underwent septal deviation correction using this graft (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The septal bone batten trought the endonasal approach proved to be an excellent alternative for correcting anterior deviations in patients where the simple removal of osteo-cartilaginous structures is not enough to resolve them. This graft is easy to obtain, has the ideal properties for its purpose and presented no complications related to its use in the study. Level of evidence: Level 2
In vitro antimicrobial activity of Luffa operculata
AbstractIntroductionLuffa operculata is probably one of the most popular herbal medicines used in the treatment of rhinitis and rhinosinusitis. However, its specific mechanism of action is still unknown.ObjectiveTo evaluate in vitro antibacterial activity of L. operculata against three ordinary agents of upper respiratory tract infection: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes.MethodsDifferent concentrations of L. operculata alcoholic extract were applied to bacterial broth containing reference and community strains of the three described agents. After a 24-h incubation period, the bacterial culture turbidity was measured. The samples were then inoculated onto Mueller-Hinton and human blood agar plates. Bacterial growth was analyzed after 24- and 48-h incubation period. The test was considered negative when there was no environmental turbidity, confirmed by the absence of bacterial growth into the inoculated plates. Tests were considered positive when either turbidity changes were observed on the bacterial broth or when bacterial growth was detected on inoculated plates. Appropriate statistical analysis of the data was performed.ResultsL. operculata extracts showed antibacterial activity mainly to S. pyogenes followed by S. pneumoniae and S. aureus.ConclusionsL. operculata extract showed promising antibacterial activity in vitro against the studied agents
