Appraisal of Trade Potency on Economic Growth in Sudan: New Empirical and Policy Analysis
ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DOMESTIC INVESTMENT, EXPORTS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: EVIDENCE FROM GREECE
The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship among domestic investment, exports and economic growth in the case of Greece. To attempt our goal, we used annual data over the period 1970 – 2020 and Vector Error Correction Model. Empirical results indicate that in the long run there is no causality relationship between exports, domestic investment, and economic growth. In the short run, we found that only exports cause domestic investment. These results proved as evidence that domestic investment and exports are not seen as a source of economic growth in the case of Greece which also explain the catastrophe situation of economic activity in Greece
The three-ways linkages between domestic investment, exports and economic growth: new evidence from Saudi Arabia
This research paper aims to investigate the relationships between domestic investment,
exports, and economic growth in Saudi Arabia from 2000 to 2021. Using cointegration and vector
error correction model analyses, six key findings have emerged. Firstly, neither domestic investment
nor exports have a significant long-term impact on economic growth. Secondly, long-term domestic
investment does not significantly influence exports, and vice versa. Regarding long-term dynamics,
the research reveals that economic growth and domestic investment positively influence exports over
an extended period. Additionally, domestic investment and exports serve as causal factors for shortterm
economic growth. Furthermore, short-term relationships exist where economic growth and
exports stimulate domestic investment, albeit with relatively weaker significance. Finally, the results
highlight that economic growth and domestic investment jointly foster short-term export expansion.
The research suggests the need to investigate additional economic, political, and structural factors
beyond domestic investment and exports to better understand and enhance long-term economic
growth in Saudi Arabia
The Impact of Domestic Investment on Economic Growth: New Policy Analysis from Algeria
This paper investigates the relationship between domestic investment and economic growth in Algeria, by using co integration analysis of Vector Error Correction Model. The equation of the long run relationship shows that domestic investment has a negative effect on economic growth. However, in the short run term, domestic investment causes economic growth. These results prove that domestic investment is a source of economic growth for Algeria, but unfortunately it suffers from several obstacles and problems that are directly related to the poor management and the weak strategy for development and investment
Do Agricultural Raw Materials Imports Cause Agricultural Growth? Empirical Analysis from North Africa
The aim of this paper is to study empirically the impact of agricultural raw materials imports on agricultural growth since it never done before. We have made this study in the context of three countries from North Africa (Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt) for the period 1965 – 2016. By using cointegration analysis and vector error correction model, empirical analysis proves that agricultural raw materials imports produce a positive effect on agricultural growth in the long run for all the three countries and cause agricultural growth in the short run in the case of Tunisia and Egypt. It is seen that agricultural raw materials imports are a source of economic growth in the agricultural sector. For this reason, countries of North Africa should adopt to integrate foreign technology imports and not technological innovation to stimulate agricultural sector
AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS, AGRICULTURAL IMPORTS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN CHINA
Since the beginning of the third millennium, the Chinese agricultural exports increase at a strong pace. In this context, this paper aims to answer the question if the agriculture trade promotes Chinese economic growth by employing the ARDL bounds testing for the study period from 1984 to 2017. In the long run, our highlights reported that domestic investment and agricultural exports have a positive effect on economic growth. However, agricultural imports have a significant negative impact on growth. In the short run, our insights reported a positive and significant effect of domestic investment, agricultural imports, and agricultural exports on economic growth. The positive impact of agriculture exports on growth is due to the importance of agriculture in terms of creating jobs and opportunities for the economy. Therefore, sufficient national investment in the agriculture sector tends to enlarge these opportunities and then improves Chinese economic growth
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
What drives Tunisian economic growth: urbanization or rural development?
A nation’s economic growth plays a pivotal role in determining its level of national
economic integration and participation in global value chains. This research investigates the impact
of urbanization and ruralization on economic growth in the case of Tunisia, utilizing annual data
spanning from 1965 to 2019. The findings, derived from the estimation of an autoregressive
distributed lag model and an error correction model, reveal a negative correlation between
urbanization and Tunisian economic growth. Conversely, ruralization is found to have a positive
impact, suggesting that Tunisia may not have reached a stage of urban saturation. The study implies
that urbanization, without concurrent industrialization, has encountered limitations. Consequently,
Tunisia, having developed without due industrial progress, is no longer perceived as a privileged
locale but at times faces exclusion. In addressing the urban crisis, ’urban exodus’ becomes, at times,
the sole response
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
