Bone fracture risk: Density and microarchitecture qualification
Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease where an increase in bone fragility is due to low bone mass and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, which occur over a long period of time without clinical significance.
Currently, Double Energy X-ray Absorption (DEXA) is the gold standard for bone mineral density assessment and the diagnosis of osteoporosis, but the majority of fractures occur in patients who would not be considered at fracture risk based on their Bone Mineral Density (BMD) values. It has long been known that fracture risk depends not only on mass loss, but also on bone architecture, whose alterations are an independent factor of increased fragility.
The Bone Elastic Structure Test, BES TEST®, is a recently introduced analysis that assesses bone quality as expressed by the elastic properties of the trabecular micro-architecture from a virtual biopsy of the patient and could be a helpful add-on to densitometry for predicting fragility fractures and patient monitoring.
The aim of this study is the comparison of DEXA and BES TEST® ability as 3-year risk estimators in a clinical application.
In the CONTROL group, the BSI T-score is significantly different from the femoral DEXA T-score (p = 0.0005). In the FRACTURED group, the BSI T-score is significantly different from both the femoral DEXA T-score (p = 0.0266) and the lumbar DEXA T-score (p = 0.0051). Inter-group t-test statistical analysis (95% significance) shows that the femoral DEXA T-score (neck) of the CONTROL and the FRACTURED groups are not significantly different (p = 0.1478), while the BSI T-score of the CONTROL and the FRACTURED groups highlights a significant difference (p = 0.0001). Despite the small number of subjects, our data seem to confirm that the BSI could be a helpful add-on to densitometry for predicting fragility fractures and patient monitoring

(E) Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and
lifestyle on financial management moderated by parental income. This study uses a
quantitative research design and uses a questionnaire for data collection. The
sample used was 100 Tarumanagara University students from the Faculties of
Economics, Law, and Engineering using purposive sampling technique with
nonprobability sampling method. The data analysis technique used in this research
is PLS-SEM using SmartPLS 4.0. The results showed that financial literacy and
lifestyle have a significant effect on the financial management of Tarumanagara
University students. Parental income does not have a significant effect in
moderating the relationship between financial literacy and lifestyle on financial
management of Tarumanagara University students.

Use of clodronate in the management of osteoarthritis: an update.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic rheumatic disease characterized by joint cartilage wear and loss of normal function. Clodronate (CLO) is a first-generation non-nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that exerts anti-inflammatory and analgesic and modulatory effects on bone and cartilage metabolism. To date, few clinical studies have evaluated the effect of CLO in OA. Current evidence suggests that CLO may represent a new type of analgesic drug as it reduces pain in bone diseases characterized by edema such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrone type-1 and vertebral fractures. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, CLO has been shown to afford benefit in knee OA, erosive OA of the hand, painful knee hip prosthesis and veterinary practice. Transforming growth factor β1 has also been found to play an important role in the pathogenesis of OA. The present review article examines recent evidence on the potential use of CLO in the treatment of OA
Bone Marrow Edema: pathogenetic features
The term "bone marrow edema" was used for the first time in 1988 by Wilson. He noticed a high signal on fluid-sensitive sequences at MRI located in the subchondral bone. We can find bone marrow edema in many musculoskeletal diseases such as Inflammatory and Rheumatic diseases (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Spondylarthritis, etc.), Osteoarthritis (BMLs) and Bone Marrow Edema Syndromes (BMES). This classification is based on pathophysiological, histological and clinical differences despite the same imaging evidence. The distinction is useful also in terms of treatment. Bisphosphonates in association with NSAIDs or corticosteroids are the main therapy while TNF-a Inhibitors are used for the specific inflammatory origin. Bone marrow edema has become an important aspect to consider in the diagnostic path of the main musculoskeletal diseases. This paper starts from a systematic review of literature. We chose the most decisive contributions in order to develop a better description of the pathogenetic features about this "new" evidence
