    Realizing a commitment to food security is closely related to social security, economic stability, political stability and national security or resilience. Continuous improvement of fertile land through the use of liquid organic fertilizers is expected to maintain the quality of soil nutrients which in turn will improve the quality of agriculture and the productivity of food crops. Based on observations in the field, the people of Uteunkot Village, Lhokseumawe City, had not managed waste properly, organic and inorganic waste had not been separated from one another, and waste was often thrown away without proper handling, causing foul odor that disturbs the environment. To overcome this problem, a solution was needed, namely utilizing organic waste as liquid organic fertilizer which is useful for the community in fertilizing plants in the yard of the house. This community service was held from July to September 2022 in Uteunkot Village, Lhokseumawe City. The purpose of this service activity was to find out the impact of counseling on the community regarding the manufacture and use of liquid organic fertilizer. The results of the community service activities showed the compatibility between the implementation and the guidelines for making liquid organic fertilizer from household organic waste, as well as increasing the knowledge of farmer groups in Uteunkot Village, Lhokseumawe City

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kompos eceng gondok terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kacang hijau. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada lahan pekarangan rumah di Desa Blang Lancang Kecamatan Jeunieb Kabupaten Bireuen dari bulan Desember sampai dengan bulan Maret tahun 2018. Rancangan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial yang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan pemberian kompos eceng gondok, terdiri yaitu : K0 = Kontrol, K1 = 5 ton/ Ha , K2 = 10 ton/ Ha, K3 = 15 ton/ Ha, K4 = 20 ton/Ha, K5 = 25 ton/ha dan K6 = 30 ton/ Ha. Peubah yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang produktif, berat polong pertanaman, berat polong perplot, berat biji pertanaman, berat biji perplot, bobot 100 biji dan jumlah akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan kompos eceng gondok berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 45 HST, berat polong pertanaman, berat polong per plot. berat biji pertanaman, berat biji per plot, bobot 100 biji dan jumlah akar tanaman kacang hijau. Perlakuan kompos eceng gondok terbaik dijumpai pada perlakuan 20 ton/ha (K4) Kata Kunci: Pemberian Kompos, Eceng Gondok, Kacang Hija

    Analisis usaha jamur merang LM3 Agrinadi Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Keuntungan dan Kelayakan Usaha Jamur Merang LM3 Agrina  di Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen pada usaha jamur merang LM3 AGRINA di Desa Tanjong Paya. Penentuan lokasi dilakukan secara sengaja (purposive sampling), yang didasarkan pada pertimbangan bahwa usaha jamur merang LM3 AGRINA di Desa Tanjong Paya merupakan salah satu usaha yang memproduksi jamur merang yang ada di wilayah Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh total keuntungan yang diperoleh pada usaha produksi jamur merang pada UD. Agrina di Kecamatan Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen selama satu tahun (tiga kali produksi) yaitu sebesar Rp. 22.953.571,-/tahun. Nilai B/C ratio sebesar 1,21 artinya B/C ratio lebih besar dari pada satu (B/C > 0). Nilai R/C ratio sebesar 2.21 artinya R/C ratio lebih besar dari pada nol (R/C > 1). Besar nilai BEP  produksi yang diperoleh adalah sebesar  Rp. 278 Kg, sedangkan produksi yang diterima petani yaitu sebesar 1.200 kg dan BEP rupiah yang diperoleh adalah   Rp. 7.755.533/tahun, sedangkan penerimaan yang diterima petani adalah   Rp. 42.000.000/tahun. Berarti BEP lebih kecil dari pada jumlah yang diterima petani, maka usaha tersebut menguntungkan dan layak untuk dilanjutkan. Kata Kunci: Analisis Usaha, Jamur Merang LM3 Agrin

    Karakteristik Dan Prospek Ekonomi Sistem Agroforestri Di Kabupaten Bireuen Aceh

    Praktik agroforestri sudah cukup dikenal dan telah diterapkan secara luas oleh masyarakat di Kabupaten Bireuen sebagai bentuk perkebunan rakyat. Berkembangnya agroforestri di daerah ini tidak lepas dari pengelolaan yang lebih mudah dibandingkan dengan bentuk USAhatani pertanian umumnya seperti padi sawah atau pertanian monokultur lainnya. Agroforestri juga memberikan banyak alternatif pendapatan dan produk yang lebih banyak bagi masyarakat di Kabupaten Bireuen Provinsi Aceh. Oleh karena itu telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis jenis dan pola tanam Agroforestri serta potensi pendapatan masyarakat di Kabupaten Bireuen Provinsi Aceh. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode survey menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dimana sampel yang diambil adalah petani yang menerapkan sistem Agroforestri di 3 kecamatan yang mewakili wilayah kabupaten. Karakteristik Agroforestri yang diamati adalah jenis, pola tanam, umur tanaman dan ragam komoditas tanaman. Karakteristik USAhatani yang diamati untuk menentukan potensi ekonomi adalah luas kepemilikan, lama pengusahaan, tingkat pengelolaan, jenis sarana produksi, biaya dan pendapatan USAhatani, hambatan USAha tani dan keterlibatan pemerintah. Berdasarkan hasil survey dan interview ditemui 2 jenis utama sistem Agroforestri yaitu agrisilvikultur dan agrosilvopastural. Agrisilvikultur dipraktikkan dengan sistem tumpangsari, alley cropping dan intercropping yang dikelola secara intensif (90%) dan tradisional-semi intensif (10%). Jenis tanaman yang dibudidayakan dengan sistem agroforestri terdiri dari kelompok pepohonan (sengon, mahoni), tanaman penghasil buah, (kakao, pepaya, pinang, kelapa, kelapa sawit), tanaman penghasil pakan ternak, tanaman pangan dan hortikultura dengan kisaran umur tanaman < 1 - 17 tahun. Rata-rata kepemilikan lahan 1,6 ha dengan pengalaman USAha tani 7,3 tahun. Rata-rata biaya USAhatani agrofortestri yang dikeluarkan petani untuk bibit/benih, pupuk, pestisida, insektisida, dan peralatan/mesin sebesar Rp. 4,332,857/tahun, dengan rata-rata pendapatan USAhatani Rp. 19,480,714/tahun. Jumlah biaya produksi sangat tergantung dari jenis tanaman dan luas USAha tani yang dikembangkan. Biaya produksi tertinggi diperoleh pada agrisilvikultur dengan kombinasi tanaman tahunan-tanaman pangan-tanaman hortikultura, sedangkan terendah pada agrosilvopastural. Umumnya petani mengalami kendala rendahnya harga produk USAhatani karena penentu harga di tingkat petani adalah pedagang pengumpul. Namun demikian heterogenitas tanaman dan keberlanjutan pendapatan petani dari penerapan agroforestri memberikan keamanan dan ketahanan sosial dan ekonomi bagi mayarakat di Kabupaten Bireuen. Dilain pihak diperlukan perhatian pemerintah yang lebih intensif baik melalui penyuluhan, pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam mengelola tanaman yang menjadi unggulan

    SOIL CONSERVATION TECHNIQUES IN OIL PALM CULTIVATION FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

    Currently, many have been concerned with the oil palm cultivation since it may also put land resources in danger and bring about environmental damage. Poor practices in managing agricultural land very often occur due to the inadequate knowledge of soil conservation. Application of soil and water conservation is to maintain the productivity of the land and to prevent further damage by considering land capability classes. This research was aimed at obtaining soil and water conservation techniques which are the most appropriate and optimal for oil palm cultivation areas based on land capability classes which can support sustainable oil palm cultivation. Several soil conservation techniques had been treated to each different class III, IV, and VI of the studied area. These treatment had been performed by a standard plot erosion. The results showed for the land capability class III, Cover plants + Manure was able to control runoff, erosion and reduce leaching of N (LSD P≤0,05), in which soil conservation produced the lowest erosion (3,73t/ha), and N leaching (0,25%). On land capability class IV, Sediment Trap + cover plants+ manure was able to control runoff, erosion and reduce organic C and P leaching (LSD P≤0,05), in which soil conservation produced the lowest runoff (127,77 m3/ha), erosion (12,38t/ha), organic C leaching (1,14 %), and P leaching (1,28 ppm). On land capability class VI, there isn’t significant effect of soil conservation, but Bench Terrace + cover plants +manure has the lowest runoff, erosion and soil nutrient leaching

    Investigation on underutilized plants used as daily medication, fruit source and traditional ceremonies in Bireuen regency, Aceh, Indonesia

    Bireuen is a regency that constitutes 3.13 % of the total area of the Aceh province, with elevations ranging from 0 to 2637 m above sea level (asl). Although the biodiversity of this regency is expected to be high, there is limited data available on its plant species. Many of the plants are believed to be considered underutilized. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate some ethnobotanical aspects of underutilized plant species in Bireuen Regency, Aceh. The study was carried out as a survey using an open questionnaire in 17 districts, with 70 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative indices such as Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC), Use Value (UV), Informant Consensus Factor (ICF) and Pearson Correlation were performed on RFC and UV to determine the relationship between the 2 indices. A total of 40 families and 74 plant species were recorded, identified and grouped based on their use as traditional medicine (32 families and 47 species), fruit consumption (12 families and 21 species) and traditional ceremonies (15 families and 17 species). The common methods used to prepare medicine based on these local plants were crushing or boiling to treat mild symptoms and diseases. The fruit of these plants was often consumed and some plant information is scarcely available, such as buah brahim (Uvaria siamensis) and kayee kunyet (Polyalthia littoralis). The ICF value showed that the category with the highest consensus factor was traditional ceremonies (0.85), followed by consumption as fruit (0.84), and traditional medicine (0.68). This study revealed that many local plants commonly used as part of local culture had potential medicinal properties. Therefore, further investigations are recommended to validate the use of indigenous plants and preserve the knowledge

    Lhokseumawe City is the center of government and economy has a dense population, with a population density index of 1,082.6 people / km2. Good waste management must be done to maintain environmental health, including the management of Temporary Shelters (TPS). Waste that is disposed of carelessly creates illegal Waste Disposal Sites (LPS) that can trigger various diseases and reduce environmental aesthetics. The focus of the research is to map the location of TPS and LPS using Geographic Information System (GIS), analyze the distribution pattern of TPS and LPS using nearest neighbor analysis on image processing software, and analyze the suitability of TPS capacity with the volume of waste from the people of Lhokseumawe City. The results of the study obtained that the TPS facilities in Lhokseumawe City are 18 TPS while there are 36 illegal LPS. The distribution pattern of TPS includes a clustered pattern with a distribution index of 0.69. The distribution pattern of LPS includes a clustered pattern with a distribution index of 0.51 and the highest LPS is found in the Muara Satu District area.  The results of the analysis of the suitability of TPS capacity obtained the availability of TPS in each sub-district is still lacking to accommodate waste generation, Banda Sakti sub-district still lacks 34 TPS, Muara Dua sub-district 23 TPS, Muara Satu sub-district 15 TPS, and Blang Mangat sub-district 8 TPS.. Pengelolaan sampah yang baik harus dilakukan untuk menjaga Kesehatan lingkungan, diantaranya pengelolaan Tempat Penampungan Sementara (TPS). Sampah yang dibuang secara sembarangan menimbulkan Lokasi Pembuangan Sampah (LPS) ilegal yang bisa memicu berbagai penyakit dan menurunkan estetika lingkungan. Fokus dari penelitian adalah memetakan lokasi TPS serta LPS memanfaatkan Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG), menganalisa pola persebaran TPS dan LPS menggunakan analisis nearest neighbour pada Software pengolahan citra, serta menganalisa kesesuaian kapasitas daya tampung TPS dengan volume sampah dari masyarakat Kota Lhokseumawe. Hasil penelitian diperoleh fasilitas TPS yang terdapat di Kota Lhokseumawe adalah 18 TPS sedangkan LPS ilegal sebanyak 36 LPS. Pola persebaran TPS termasuk pola clustered dengan indeks penyebaran 0,69. Pola persebaran LPS termasuk pola clustered dengan indeks penyebaran 0,51 dan LPS tertinggi terdapat pada wilayah Kecamatan Muara Satu.  Hasil analisa kesesuaian kapasitas TPS didapatkan ketersediaan TPS disetiap Kecamatan masih kurang untuk menampung timbulan sampah, Kecamatan Banda Sakti masih kekurangan 34 TPS, Kecamatan Muara Dua 23 TPS, Kecamatan Muara Satu 15 TPS, dan Kecamatan Blang Mangat 8 TPS.     The Development Strategy Oil Palm-Cattle Integration in Bireuen District Aceh Province

    Environments in which oil palms grow involve some components and production resources crucial in increasing the development of integrated palm oil plantation systems without damaging the environment. This study aimed to determine strategies and direction of the development of oil palm-cattle integration and improve the regional economy. The primary data were obtained through questionnaires by interviewing 50 respondents, which comprised cattle farmers and experts /stakeholders of Almuslim University and STIE Kebangsaan Bireuen and local government agencies directly involved with the study topics. AHP and SWOT were used to analyze oil palm-cattle integration strategy development data. The main findings of the study require main strategies: 1) Increasing the efficiency of oil palm-cattle integration from extensive to intensive model with the support of stakeholders; 2) Creating an effective and successful pilot cattle farmer groups in carrying out oil palm-cattle integration by utilizing cheap and nutritious feed from oil palm plantations; 3) Utilizing cow dung as fertilizer and biogas as a source of income for farmers; 4) Expanding cattle farmer\u27s knowledge on the development of beef cattle population and livestock health services; 5) Increasing active government participation in facilitating cattle and oil palm farmers in integration implementation, and 6) Utilizing financial institutions/banking services to increase business capital which will aid in increasing beef cattle population and oil palm production.     Soil Conservation by Vegetative Systems in Oil Palm Cultivation

    In Indonesia, agricultural land for oil palm plantation is mostly placed on slope areas. Erosion carries down surface soil layers which are generally fertile and rich in organic matter and nutrients, causing the loss of plant nutrients. Cover crops provide protection against the destruction of soil aggregates by rain and runoff. This research aims to study the effectiveness of vegetation as soil conservation in controlling erosion and runoff. This study was a field experiment on erosion plots of 10 m × 5 m with 1–2-year-old oil palm trees planted on a 15–40% slope, which were arranged in a Split Plot Design with replications as blocks, consisting of a combination of two factors: the age of the oil palm and slope as the first factor, and conservation techniques as a second factor. The results showed that the soil conservation techniques in oil palm cultivation could reduce the rate of surface runoff, soil erosion and nutrient loss. Soil conservation with upland rice – soybean – Mucuna bracteata, in sequence (T3) in oil palm 7–25 months old and 15–25% slopes (P1) were most effective reduced runoff, increase the infiltration and preventing soil erosion and nutrient loss in all age of oil palm and slope of land
