This research has how the Fragment Human Figure theme and treats of representation on the body on fragments in the picture, utilizing as reference the Omar Calabrese's about the Fragment theory. Videographic experiences in times of pandemic

Video calls, video conferences, video art, video dance, video poetry and thus, with that eagerness to see and hear the other, we live in audiovisual mediation devices that do not stop associating with this or that platform or channel in digital culture. When, in 2020, the situation of social isolation imposed on the world by the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, only the audiovisual image continued to travel between media, to transit in the interstices, across borders, towards the meeting with the other, as a being of passage and of uncertain nature and identities, adrift through networks, whether as an archive or in real time. In this context, it is worth reflecting on video as a media-image and metaphor of contemporary man himself: borderless, nomadic, in constant flux, which, even without being able to transit, surpassed technological mediation, becoming an omnipresence whether in video files or video in real time here we name videonomadism. The phenomenon of telepresence, already experienced, is here expanded to think of the video image as a symbol of the diaspora image, drift. It is about thinking video as a contemporary cultural phenomenon aiming to describe the complexity of the videographic system. For this, we opted for decolonial approaches whose critical stance and contrary to the hegemonic and canonical systems of the history of art and culture, have significantly contributed to the production of other perspectives on phenomena such as media, technology, and art, and by extension as we intend with this research, promote new readings of video art. The basic reasoning was mainly related to the decolonial approach of Latin American authors such as Zulma Palermo [8] and Boaventura de Souza Santos [9], having as object of study, the video Small fragments of a suspension machine with interstices by Paloma Oliveira and Mateus Knelsen who was part of the first Pink Umbrellas Art Residency Festival, curated by artists Mirella Brandi and Mueptemo [12], whose video works are audiovisual site specifics created collaboratively by artist duos and exclusively for the Internet.Paulist State Univ Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, BrazilPaulist State Univ Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazi

This project aims to design a human - plant interaction bonding system, based in air phytoremediation, for indoor residential urban spaces, tested in Lima, Peru. This successive approximation model combines descriptive and prescriptive stages, and it is inspired by Blessing and Chakrabarti?s Design Research Methodology (2009).\nThere are three main concepts developed throughout the research process: bonding, smart spaces and hybrid realities. Regarding hybrid realities, gamification was introduced as an immersion resource, merging the physical world with a fictional narrative where the plant?s avatar lives, and giving a sense of reality to interaction. For that reason, the prototype was designed to understand the user?s motivations, according to Chou?s theory (2016), during discovery and onboarding stages.\nThe most outstanding finding met through the experimentation of the prototype was how easy and quickly the user felt a connection with the plant. Even though the test only took place for one week, the user?s diary showed emotion and sense of attachment towards the plant, caused by the avatar.Fil: Kong Yi, Maria Natalia.

The field of interaction design is a relatively new area of study that aims to comprehend human behaviour in order to propose appropriate interactions between individuals and products, services, or systems (Kolko, 2007). Since the 1970s, developments in technology and the growing complexity of mass-produced items have presented designers with the challenge of understanding the relationships between business, technology and human needs. This has led to the revelation of a dearth of responsibility and ethical values in the design process (Papanek, 1977). As an Argentine designer, I sought to investigate the potential for integrating ethical considerations into the design process, with the objective of addressing the following question: What theoretical concepts and methodological tools could be employed to enhance the capacity for responsible decision-making within the design process? In order to address this challenge, a workshop model was developed as a space for dialogue with the objective of deepening and promoting reflection in design, with a view to understanding the relationships between people and their environment. This enables participants to subject their decision-making processes to scrutiny and enhance them by integrating an ethical perspective into the decision-making process itself. The selected methodological approach was qualitative, employing participant observation, collaborative workshops, and meaningful conversations. The participants were selected on the basis of their involvement in the design process, their interest in exploring ethical considerations therein, and their active engagement in defining products or services. They were also required to have their own projects to work on. Throughout the research conducted with the start-up, the work processes were analysed and methods for integrating a responsible approach into their business practices were explored through these workshops. The research conducted with professionals involved fostering critical thinking through virtual workshops structured over two days. The first day included project analysis and reflection, an ethics lecture, and reflection exercises. The second day of the programme comprised a lecture on the relationship between objects and an ideation exercise. At the conclusion of each workshop, a synthesis was presented, outlining the key insights and learnings derived from the experience. The workshops were effective in demonstrating that the incorporation of an ethical framework facilitates reflection on one's professional stance, and that the theoretical principles of technology prompt participants to rethink their relationship with their product or service. The workshop method proved to be an effective interactive tool, allowing participants to engage deeply with the subject matter based on their prior design experiences. The exercises facilitated a more nuanced understanding of the potential distribution of power and the ripple effects that a project might create. Moreover, it was determined that when the facilitator is an external agent, objectivity is promoted by preventing internal organisational or personal interests from influencing the workshop. Additionally, the workshops facilitated discourse on pivotal yet often overlooked subjects, such as the reduction of detrimental impacts on the planet and its inhabitants. This discourse was informed by the understanding that we are guests of nature and, as such, must demonstrate respect and care for it in a manner commensurate with our treatment of other sentient beings. These workshops facilitate a modification of the purpose of the organisation or project and foster a more responsible design approach. It is therefore recommended that this type of workshop be incorporated as a space for reflection in places where interactions are designed, as it is a non-hierarchical space that promotes synergy among colleagues and provides the time and space to reflect on their work and the consequences of their actions.Fil: Pappacena, Vanina.

    Get PDF
AbstractThe present article has as its theme the experimental animation and its characteristics, a field full of technical and artistic innovations that is kept aside from the studies on animated cinema. Therefore, it aims to define certain characteristics of an experimental animation and to identify and describe traits and characteristics of what is considered an experimental animation in the animated short film Begone Dull Care in Norman McLaren’s (1914-1987) and Evelyn Lambart (1914). Bibliographical and audio-visual works with a specific purpose, such as the identification, verification and evaluation of documents (bibliographical and audiovisual works), of a basic / pure nature, based on data collection and documentary analysis, as content analysis through the description of the animated film “Begone Dull Care” (1949). Unlike commercial animation that aims to please the public without the concern of the artistic or personal satisfaction of studio animators, and seek formal solutions that facilitate the large-scale production of animated films, the experimental animation will be distinguished by technical experimentation and aesthetics that challenge the limits of language and amplify its expressive potential. With avant-garde character, focused on artistic creation and experimentation, the experimental animation will be developed in Europe at the beginning of the century. XX. Artists like McLaren and Oskar Fischinger explored techniques that amplify the plastic potential of animations. The term has incorporated several nomenclatures over the years as independent or author animation. “Begone Dull Care” is a product of this spirit that challenges the traditional through experimentation. In it, McLaren uses the direct animation method on the film and synchronizes colors and graphic shapes animated by the sound of jazz. McLaren and Lambart adopt simplified and abstract forms for greater freedom of creation and, during such an empirical process, incorporate contingencies, accidents and unconventional materials as enhancers of expressiveness through their experimentation with the materiality of the film
