High hydrogen production rate on RuS 2 @MoS 2 hybrid nanocatalyst by PEM electrolysis
A new nanocatalyst, which combines the electrocatalytic activity of MoS 2 nanosheets and RuS 2 nanoparticles (NPs), was prepared through a safe and scalable, one-step “bottom-up” approach. It delivers high current density, with a Tafel slope of 36 mV/dec and a very small overpotential. The high exposure of MoS 2 edges on the RuS 2 NPs, the stronger d character of RuS 2 and the electrical coupling of these two nanomaterials, grown together, were responsible for the high hydrogen production rates of 10.2 l/h (PEM cell 5cm × 5 cm, current density about 1.1 A/cm 2 , power consumption 41.8 W, corresponding to 3.8 KWh/Nm 3 of energy consumption, efficiency 93%)
Metal-Metal oxide nanostructures as a bifunctional electrocatalysts for simultaneous catalytic oxidation of hydrazine and hydroxylamine
Active biocatalyst for biodiesel production from spent coffee ground
Physical adsorption preserving activity and support reusability was used to directly bond lipase from Thermomyces lanuginosus on citric acid (CA) modified Fe3O4/Au magnetic nanoparticles. A new faster approach has been used for CA ligand exchange, which ensures an high payload of stable enzyme. The immobilized lipase was tested for the biodiesel production from spent coffee ground in a solvent free system. It retains, after 60 days, more than 90% of its initial activity. Biodiesel yield of 51.7%, after 3 h of synthesis, which increases up to ∼100% after 24 h indicating an enzymatic fast kinetic, was measured. No significant decrease, during the first three cycles of use, of the lipase activity occurs. The biodiesel presents an ester content of 98.4 ± 0.23 in agreement with the EN14214. The iodine value of 76.67 (g iodine/100 g) is in agreement with the European standard
"One-pot" synthesis of 2D, 1D, e 0D nano crystals of tungstenand molybdenum chalcogenides (WS2,MoS2) functionalizedwith long chain amine and/or carboxylic acid and/or thiol
Synthesis of Ordered Layers of Monodisperse CoFe2O4 Nanoparticles for Catalyzed Growth of Carbon Nanotubes on Silicon Substrate
Simple and inexpensive formation of extended and ordered mono- or multilayers of highly monodispersed CoFe2O4 nanoparticles, covered by oleic acid coating, was obtained by the spin-coating method on silicon substrate. Two concentrations of nanoparticles dispersions were employed. The oleic-capped nanoparticles were used as catalysts for the growth of carbon nanotubes by ethylene CCVD.Aclose correlation of nanotube diameter with nanoparticle size has been verified. Moreover, density and length of nanotubes can be controlled by nanoparticle concentration
