Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Peneliti ingin mendalami tentang lingkungan bahasa dan manfaatnya. Peneliti berpendapat bahwa lingkungan sangat penting dalam mempermudah siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa kedua, misalnya bahasa Arab. Seperti kita tahu bahwa anak kecil belajar bahasa tidak melalui pendidikan khusus, tetapi langsung belajar dari lingkungannya. Hal ini menunjukkan betapa lingkungan itu sangat penting.
Dengan melihat betapa pentingnya lingkungan bahasa yang baik, maka peneliti memilih Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur sebagai tempat penelitiannya. Hal ini karena telah tersebar berita bahwa Pondok Pesantren ini telah sukses membentuk lingkungan bahasa bagi siswa-siswanya, terutama bahasa Arab.
Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) Bagaimana Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur membentuk lingkungan bahasa dalam meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa-siswanya? (2) Bagaimana bentuk lingkungan bahasa dalam meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa-siswa Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur dan cara apa yang ditempuh? (3) Apa faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan lingkungan bahasa dalam meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa-siswa Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur?
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi kasus. Populasi dan sampelnya adalah siswa- siswa kelas XII jurusan bahasa di Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur. Dan alat yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dan analisis datanya menggunakan teori Mile dan Huberman.
Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur membetuk lingkungan bahasa yang baik dalam meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa-siswanya dengan cara (a) Meningkatkan kemampuan para guru. (b) Meningkatkan sarana prasarana (c) Mewajibkan seluruh anggota pondok pesantren dan sekolah untuk berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Arab (d) Mewajibkan seluruh kegiatan pondok pesantren, sekolah dan siswa dengan menggunakan bahasa Arab (e) Mendatangkan pembicara orang Arab asli. (2) Pembentukan lingkungan bahasa di Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur dilakukan dengan (a) Penggunaan bahasa Arab dalam setiap kegiatan pendidikan dan kegiatan sehari-
hari siswa (b) Penerapan budaya Arab (c) Mengadakan ekstrakulikuler yang berkaitan dengan bahasa Arab. (3) Faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan lingkungan bahasa dalam meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa-siswa Madrasah Aliyah “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” Bangil Pasuruan Jawa Timur itu memiliki dua faktor, yaitu faktor internal dan eksternal. Penjelasannya seperti berikut: Faktor internal meliputi: (a) Teladan yang baik dari pendiri pondok pesantren “Darullughoh Wadda’wah” (b) Teladan yang baik dari para guru (c) Niat dan semangat dari siswa.
Sedangkan faktor eksternalnya meliputi: (a) Sarana prasarana yang lengkap (b) Penggunaan bahasa Arab dalam segala kegiatan (c) Halaqoh Hadromiyah/majlis ta’lim (d) Penggunaan budaya Arab dalam kegiatan sehari-hari (e) Hubungan persahabatan dengan lembaga dari negara Arab.
ABSTRACT
Researchers want to learn more on the language environment and benefits. Researchers argue that the environment is very important in facilitating students in learning a second language, such as Arabic. As we know that children do not learn language through special education, but learning directly from the environment. This shows how the environment is very important.
By looking at the importance of good language environment, the researchers chose Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java as a place of research. This is because word has spread that this boarding school has successfully established a language environment for their students, especially Arabic.
The problem in this study were (1) How Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil form Pasuruan, East Java attempt language environment in improving their students' speaking skills? (2) How does language shape the environment in improving the speaking skills of students of Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java, and how what is taken? (3) What are the factors that influence the formation of the language environment in improving the speaking skills of students of Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java?
This research is a case study. Population and Sample class XII students majoring in the language of Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java. And tools used in collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. And data analysis using the theory Mile and Huberman.
The results of this study were (1) Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Markowitz Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java language environment in improving their students' speaking skills by (a) increasing the ability of teachers. (B) Improve infrastructure (c) Require all members of the boarding school and the school to talk to in Arabic (d) Requiring all boarding activities, schools and students to use Arabic (e) Generating native Arab speakers. (2) Establishment of the language environment in Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java, made with (a) the use of the Arabic language in any educational activities and students' daily activities (b) Application of the Arab culture (c) Conduct related extracurricular in Arabic. (3) Factors that affect the formation of the language environment in improving the speaking skills of students of Madrasah Aliyah "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" Bangkil Pasuruan, East Java, it has two factors, namely internal and external factors. The explanation is as follows: The internal
factors include: (a) a good example of the founder of the boarding school "Darullughoh Wadda'wah" (b) a good example of the teachers (c) intent and spirit of the students.
