Teaching surgical skills in obstetrics using a cesarean section simulator – bringing simulation to life

Incorporating a simulation model into training provides a safe, low-stress environment in which students can gain skills and receive feedback. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of obstetrics simulator training for medical students doing their internship.Methods: Twenty-five students posted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology received a formal lecture on cesarean section and demonstration of the procedure on a mannequin in the first week of their internship, The study group (n = 12) practiced their skills on an obstetrics simulator under the direct supervision of a faculty member. The control group received no simulator-based training (n = 13) or further instruction. All students were asked to complete a prevalidated questionnaire to assess their level of confidence in performing the procedure after the educational session.Results: Compared with their peers in the study, students in the simulator group were significantly more likely to define the steps of cesarean section (91% vs 61.5%), and were comfortable in assisting cesarean section (100% vs 46.15%) as they were able to identify the layers of abdomen opened during cesarean section. All 12 students reported this as an excellent experience.Conclusion: We were able to construct an inexpensive cesarean section trainer that facilitates instruction in cesarean section technique in a low-stress environment.Keywords: simulation, obstetrics, medical student
The Impact Of The Development Of ICT In Several Hungarian Economic Sectors
As the author could not find a reassuring mathematical and
statistical method in the literature for studying the effect of
information communication technology on enterprises, the author
suggested a new research and analysis method that he also used to study the Hungarian economic sectors. The question of what
factors have an effect on their net income is vital for enterprises. At first, the author studied some potential indicators related to economic sectors, then those indicators were compared to the net income of the surveyed enterprises. The resulting data showed that the growing penetration of electronic marketplaces contributed to the change of the net income of enterprises to the greatest extent.
Furthermore, among all the potential indicators, it was the only indicator directly influencing the net income of enterprises.
With the help of the compound indicator and the financial data
of the studied economic sectors, the author made an attempt to find a connection between the development level of ICT and
profitability. Profitability and productivity are influenced by a lot of other factors as well. As the effect of the other factors could not be measured, the results – shown in a coordinate system - are not full but informative.
The highest increment of specific Gross Value Added was
produced by the fields of ‘Manufacturing’, ‘Electricity, gas and water supply’, ‘Transport, storage and communication’ and
‘Financial intermediation’. With the exception of ‘Electricity, gas and water supply’, the other economic sectors belong to the group of underdeveloped branches (below 50 percent).
On the other hand, ‘Construction’, ‘Health and social work’ and
‘Hotels and restaurants’ can be seen as laggards, so they got into the lower left part of the coordinate system.
‘Agriculture, hunting and forestry’ can also be classified as a
laggard economic sector, but as the effect of the compound
indicator on the increment of Gross Value Added was less
significant, it can be found in the upper left part of the coordinate system. Drawing a trend line on the points, it can be made clear that it shows a positive gradient, that is, the higher the usage of ICT devices, the higher improvement can be detected in the specific Gross Value Added
Choosing the Right Kind of Accreditation for a Business School: A Comparison between AACSB, ACBSP, and IACBE
This paper offers a comparison of the accreditation standards of three CHEA and US Department of Education recognized business school program accreditation agencies – AACSB, ACBSP, and IACBE. It also discusses the relative challenges and benefits of achieving accreditation by these agencies. While the choice for business schools is often not very clear and is a long drawn negotiated process involving different interest groups, this paper will nevertheless offer some basis of comparison among the accreditation agencies. The author draws heavily from his own personal experiences leading accreditation efforts in various US based and international b-schools and proposes the merits and demerits of different alternatives

ESTIMATION OF NITRATES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WATER RESOURCES
The research examines the water quality of Southern California, focusing on nitrate (NO3) levels. The study aims to provide insights into potential health disparities stemming from disproportionate exposure to these contaminants, particularly in underserved communities. Utilizing advanced analytical tools such as the UV spectrophotometer AquaMate Plus, water samples (n=40) were analyzed to assess nitrate levels compared to previous data (n=70 Approx.). The UV spectrophotometer operates based on measuring the absorbance of light intensity by the analyzed samples, providing valuable data for water quality assessment. Preliminary findings suggest varying levels of nitrate presence across the studied regions (0.4-43 ppm), influenced by agricultural activities, industrial discharge, and urban development. San Bernardino, Riverside, Palm Springs, and Ontario exhibit distinct contamination patterns, with certain areas experiencing higher concentrations of these pollutants.
Addressing water contamination requires collaborative efforts among policymakers, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders. Strategies such as source water protection, pollution prevention measures, and infrastructure upgrades are essential for mitigating the health risks associated with these contaminants. Furthermore, targeted interventions tailored to the needs of vulnerable populations can help alleviate disparities in water quality- related health outcomes.
This research highlights the importance of mitigating nitrates-related water contamination in Southern California\u27s water sources, especially in places with many health inequalities. Organizations may collaborate to ensure that all citizens have equitable access to clean and safe drinking water by utilizing innovative analytical tools and implementing comprehensive initiatives. Synthesis of Heteroaryl Urea Derivatives as Antimicrobial Agents
Azoles are prominent scaffolds in the pharmaceutical arena. In fact, medicinal properties of azole and benzazole containing compounds include anticancer, antimicrobial and antioxidant. Some of the drugs Inthomycin C, Oxaprozin, Tiazofurin, Dacarbazine, Tipifarnib, Albendazole, Febendazole, Omeprazole possess azole/benzazole moiety. Realizing the importance of azoles and benzazoles, it is planned to conjugate these two ligands as heteroaryl substituted urea derivatives and to study their antimicrobial activity. Each tape starts with a song in which Karadi introduces himself as a teller of stories. Karadi's nephew cubs are arguing and fighting as he arrives on Sunday, story-telling day. Their squabbling evokes this good story of friendship. The story is told in traditional fashion, except that a mole replaces the usual rat. The tortoise wears spectacles. The visual of the hunter running from the scene includes a ghost that is only suggested in the text as a fear of that some strange spirit would follow him. Dondu is the donkey star of the second story. He likes to sing. He once grew fat on his favorite cucumbers. Contentment with his cucumbers led him one evening to sing out. The villagers came and beat him. This simple Panchatantra story is new to me. The books and audio cassette come together in a cardboard package. Potential of Wild relatives in Sorghum Improvement through Molecular Approaches
Wild relatives of crops play a key role in the development of high performing cultivars. Of the 22 species
comprising the highly variable genus, Sorghum, only one, S. bicolor, is commercially cultivated for food,
feed, and bioenergy production. Profitable utilization of wild species however, demands an interdisciplinary,
multi-pronged approach to increase the probability of achieving the desired genetic
improvement. In the past, plant breeders selected breeding material based on morphological
characteristics that were readily observable and co-inherited with the desired traits. However, a
combination of morphological and molecular analyses on large samples and smaller samples, respectively,
would maximize both information and usefulness. Molecular diversity data can potentially bridge
conservation and use when employed as a tool for mining germplasm collections for genomic regions
associated with adaptive or agronomically-important traits (i.e., genes that have been important in
adaptation to local environments or are associated with phenotypes selected by farmers or breeders. For
sorghum, which is constrained by over 40 diseases and 150 insect pests, host plant resistance offers an
effective, economical and environment friendly method of pest/pathogen control since it does not involve
any additional investments by the resource poor farmers. Thirty-six potentially new sources of resistance
genes in accessions belonging Chaeto-, Hetero-, Stipo- and Para-sorghum, constituting the tertiary genepool
have been reported (Kamala et al., 2002). These could be used to develop resistant cultivars to control
sorghum downy mildew (SDM) caused by Peronosclerospora sorghi, which causes serious yield losses.
Resistance to SDM has not been observed as a common trait among the cultivated sorghums. Only about
130 accessions were identified as resistant to the ICRISAT culture of the SDM pathogen in a screening of
over 16,000 accessions from the world sorghum collection at ICRISAT. Low to moderate levels of
resistance to insect pests in cultivated germplasm coupled with breakdown of resistance due to increased
insect pressure and changing virulence patterns underscore the need to develop cultivars with broadbased
resistance
utilizing
genes
from
diverse
sources.
Thirty-two
accessions
belonging
to
Parasorghum,
Stiposorghum and Heterosorghum did not suffer any shoot fly (Atherigona soccata) damage under field
conditions (Kamala et al. 2009). Similarly, 15 species belonging to Heterosorghum, Parasorghum and
Stiposorghum showed high levels of resistance to the spotted stem borer, Chilo partellus under artificial
infestation in the field while accession of Chaetosorghum was highly susceptible (Kamala et al. 2012).
Several of the wild species from Australia have also been shown to possess high levels of resistance to
the sorghum midge, Stenodiplosis sorghicola (Sharma and Franzmann 2001). Within the primary and
secondary genepools, most of the green bug [Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) (biotype C)] resistant hybrids
grown in the USA have been derived from the race virgatum of S. bicolor ssp. verticilliflorum, and highest
levels of antibiosis to biotype E were found in S. halepense (Duncan et al. 1991). Striga-resistance
mechanisms such as low germination stimulant production, germination inhibition, and low haustorial
initiation activity have been reported to occur in wild sorghum
