She describes the tryout process in 1947, when she was a freshman, and the level of interest by young women that year to try out for the team. Smith cheered for all four year as an undergraduate, including cheering at the Rose Bowl in 1950. Smith also describes being one of the first to major in Dance, and her completion of a master’s and a doctoral degree at Ohio State. She also discusses her professional career as, first, a guidance counselor, then as an owner of a travel agency, and her many travels to Italy over the years. In addition, she talks about receiving the alumni association’s Ralph Mershon Davenport Award for distinguished service to the University for her many years of volunteering for OSU
