     The explosion of approaches and modules is a prominent characteristic of contemporaryEnglish as Second Language and English as Foreign Language teaching. It symbolizes the strength and scope of the profession. Theory is an essential ingredient in practice that guides the way in which language practitioners opine and approach Teaching Learning process. Theory helps to predict, explain and assess situations and possibilities, and provides a rationale to react and intervene language acquisition process. It aids in identifying the feasible approaches have been introduced, experimented and understood. Methods are the specific techniques and approaches that are adopted to implement to accomplish tasks and reach specific goals. Theories often inform of the type of method that is most appropriate for use. It is important that the learners and teachers acknowledge and understand their theoretical framework, rather than just practice from assumptions and beliefs that are guided by their personal or professional experiences and not necessarily from established and researched theories. In certain situations ELT exponents, will put the learners into uncertainty and risk by practicing from assumptions and beliefs versus established theories of the profession.  </p

    Building a Small and Informative Phylogenetic Supertree

    We combine two fundamental, previously studied optimization problems related to the construction of phylogenetic trees called maximum rooted triplets consistency (MAXRTC) and minimally resolved supertree (MINRS) into a new problem, which we call q-maximum rooted triplets consistency (q-MAXRTC). The input to our new problem is a set R of resolved triplets (rooted, binary phylogenetic trees with three leaves each) and the objective is to find a phylogenetic tree with exactly q internal nodes that contains the largest possible number of triplets from R. We first prove that q-MAXRTC is NP-hard even to approximate within a constant ratio for every fixed q >= 2, and then develop various polynomial-time approximation algorithms for different values of q. Next, we show experimentally that representing a phylogenetic tree by one having much fewer nodes typically does not destroy too much triplet branching information. As an extreme example, we show that allowing only nine internal nodes is still sufficient to capture on average 80% of the rooted triplets from some recently published trees, each having between 760 and 3081 internal nodes. Finally, to demonstrate the algorithmic advantage of using trees with few internal nodes, we propose a new algorithm for computing the rooted triplet distance between two phylogenetic trees over a leaf label set of size n that runs in O(q n) time, where q is the number of internal nodes in the smaller tree, and is therefore faster than the currently best algorithms for the problem (with O(n log n) time complexity [SODA 2013, ESA 2017]) whenever q = o(log n)

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Visible Light Induced Photocatalytic Activity of Polyaniline Modified TiO2 and Clay-TiO2 Composites

    Sonochemical synthesis of Titania, Titania-Polyaniline, and Clay-Titania-Polyaniline composites were car-ried out. The composite systems were characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. Photocatalytic activity was tested selecting some common dyes as substrates.     Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. While Indian corporations are not yet have fully recognized or not utilized this talent pool. The growing gender diversity in Indian managerial ranks now offers a pathway for change in Indian women. While change is slow for Indian women to gain executive positions, they have made change in management in a relatively short time. An attempt has been made in the present paper to try and understand challenges and opportunities of the women in the top management positions.&lt;span&gt;&nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Further, the thoughts of different women across the organizations in top management positions are highlighted in their own words. Through empirical research, this article brings out the factors hindering the growth of women in management.
