    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    ABSTRAK PENYELESAIAN  PROBLEM  STRESS PADA PIPA DENGAN  TEKNIK SPRING  COLD DAN SPRING HANGER.  Pengaruh suhu fluida yang mengalir di dalam pipa dari sebuah nozzle pompa ke nozzle tanki akan menyebabkan  pemuaian  atau pengkerutan.  Kondisi  tersebut akan menarik atau menekan  ke arah nozzle pompa  dan nozzle tanki. Akibat pergerakan  pipa  akan menimbulkan  displacement  dan gaya batik terhadap pipa tadi.  Oleh karena  itu harus dihitung harga Displacement,  Restraint dan Stress,  agar gaya yang timbul mampu ditahan dan diterima oleh pipa tanpa harus mengalami perpatahan  ataupun pecah sesuai dengan kekuatan material pipa. Berdasarkan perhitungan,  menggunakan program Caesar II.  dihasilkan displacement  Dy = -30,224  mm, Restraint  summary  Fy =  75,851  kg dan Stress   =  5.026,9   kg/cm2,   kemudian  dari data tersebut  dilakukan  pemotongan  sebesar  Dy dengan  metode  Spring  Cold,  lalu dilakukan running pada program  Caesar  II.  ,    ternyata  hasilnya  tidak jauh  berbeda  dengan  hasil running awal, yaitu Dy = -30,038  mm,  Restraint  Summary Fy = 75.562  kg dan stress =  5.006, 7 kg/cm . Hal tersebut diatas  masih menunjukkan  terjadinya  stress pada  instalasi pipa  karena  Restraint summary yang terjadi pada nozzle dan stress pada pipa sangat besar. Selanjutnya dicari solusi untuk menyelesaikan  masalah  stress tersebut dengan pertimbangan  bahwa pipa Æ 30" sangat rigid,  yaitu dengan cara menghilangkan      support     dan mengganti dengan spring hanger, lalu dirunning  dan dihasilkan  Dispalecement  45,588   mm,  Restraint  summary  Fy  =  -1.823   kg dan Stress  2.1178   kg/cm2    dengan   allowable  stress  2. 121, 1   kglcm2.     Melihat  hasil  perhitungan dengan  spring  hanger  ternyata  stress  yang  terjadi lebih kecil dari allowable  stress,  sehingga kondisi ini dinyatakan aman untuk diinstal. Kata kunci:  Cold Spring,  Caesar 11.4.,  Pipa ABSTRACT THE  FINISHING   PROBLEM   OF  STRESS  ON  PIPE   WITH  COLD   SPRING  AND HANGER  SPRING. The Fluid  temperature influence stream in piping  from pump  nozzle to tank nozzle will cause expansion  or contraction.  This condition  will pull or press  to the nozzle.  The consequences  of piping  displacement,  so will rise return force to piping.  Because  of that must be calculated   the displacement  using Caesar 11.4  program  so that force of rising  can support  by piping without fracture and break.  From calculation,    resulted displacement  Dy = -30,224  mm, Restraint summary Fy =  75,851  kg and Stress  =  5.026,9   kglcm2    and then It done to cut of Dy with Cold Spring method,  and so Running on Caesar 11,4 program,  resulted that It not different with the first data  namely   yaitu  Dy  =  -30,038   mm,  Restraint  Summary  Fy  =  75.562   kg and stress =  5.006, 7 kglcm2.   Because of data still stress on Piping Installation indicated  by value of Restraint summary and stress were hight.  And then It has taken solution by consideration   that pipe  of Æ 30"  very rigid,  namely  to lose  The support  and change  with the sring  hanger,  so program  of Caesar 11.4 has  run  and result  of support  displacement  is 45, 588 mm,   Restraint summary Fy = -1.823   kg dan Stress 2.1178  kg/cm2 with allowable stress 2.121,1 kglcm2.     It see result of calculate with spring hanger,  in fact The stress more little than allowable stress,  so that this condition is safety to install. Key words : Cold Spring,  Caesar 11,4,  Pipe

    RANCANGAN SISTEM TRANSMISI RAK SUMBER RADIASI IRRADIATOR GAMMA UNTUK STERILISASI HASIL PERTANIAN

    RANCANGAN SISTEM TRANSMISI RAK SUMBER IRADIASI UNTUK IRRADIA TOR GAMMA ISG-500. Telah dirancang sistem transmisi rak sumber radiasi irradiator gamma ISG- 500 yang digunakan untuk sterilisasi hasil pertanian. Rak sumber radiasi adalah salah satu perangkat irradiator gamma yang digunakan untuk meradiasi hasil pertanian yang berada di dalam carrier dengan berat 150 kg. Rak sumber radiasi dari dalam kolam ditarik ke atas permukaan kolam atau diturunkan ke dalam kolam dengan perantara tali sling baja tahan karat. Proses naik dan turunnya rak sumber dikendalikan oleh motor induksi dengan daya 2,5 kW yang dikopel oleh gigi reduksi dan kopling tetap. Sistem transmisi ini juga mempertimbangkan aspek gagal listrik dan gagal UPS ketika gagal listrik solusinya adalah dengan menggerakan motor induksi secara manual. Sedangkan gerak rak sumber menuju posisi iradiasi dilakukan dengan kecepatan 1,57 m/detik dengan dua pertimbangan, yaitu agar diperoleh gerakan yang halus ketika rak sumber sampai pada teralis dan mencegah terjadinya shutdown akibat terbenturnya teralis dengan rak sumber atau carrier. A DESIGN OF TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FOR A RACK SOURCE OF IRRADIATION OF ISG-500 GAMMA IRRADIA TOR. A transmission system has been designed for a gamma source rack of irradiator ISG-500 for sterilization of agricultural products. Radiation source rack is an equipment used for the gamma irradiator to irradiate agricultural products which reside in a carrier having weight of 150 kg. The rack sources of irradiation will be pulled up or down from the pond by stainless steel sling. The process of the up and down of the sources rack is controlled by a 2.5 kW induction motor which is coupled by a gear reduction and permanent couplings. This transmission system is also considering of any electrical failure, both central electric source and UPS system, by manual system. The speed of the rack toward its position for ready for operation is 1,57 m / second with two constderstions, namely in order to obtain a smooth movement when the rack until the bars of the source and to prevent shutdown due to any collision between the bar and the rack or the carrier.
