Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Os mastócitos mostraram influência na proliferação das células dos carcinomas complexos, contudo, é necessário mais estudos para elucidar o papel destas células no índice de proliferaçãoThe presented study aimed to quantify and evaluate the presence or absence of mast cells in different types of malignancies in the mammary gland of the female dogs. For this, it was used the blue toluidine in the histochemical colours with the purpose of detecting mast cells, and immunohistochemical techniques, using the antibodies Ki-67 to the proliferation of the cells and caspase-3 antibody to identify undergoing cells in apoptosis. All samples were put according to the pathological classification for dog’s and cat’s breast cancer in the World Health Organization. About the racial pattern, it was observed a higher number of cases in animals without breed, and in the animals with breed, the Poodle was the one with the largest number of cases. The average age of the female dogs was 8.6 years old. The morphological types of neoplasm founded were: carcinoma in situ with 0.98% (1/102), complex carcinoma with 45.09% (46/102), simple carcinoma in 35.29% (36/102) carcinosarcom in 10.78% (11/102) and special types of carcinomas that were represented with 7.89% (08/102) of the total number of cases. The mast cells were presented in the neoplasic focus with 96.08% (98/102), and it prevailed in areas where there are lots of human tissues, especially around the vessels. About the immune numbers of samples using the Ki-67 (MIB-1), it was conclude that 99% (101/102) showed positive results. However, using the caspase-3 it was showed positive results in 95% (97/102). About the influence of mast cells in the proliferation of neoplasic cells, it was observed a significant positive correlation between the number of mast cells and the proliferation (Ki-67) for the complex carcinoma (p 0.05). The correlation between death and cells proliferation showed a negative significant relation in spindle cells carcinomas, between the apoptotic number (Caspase-3) and the proliferation number (NORs). Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The chronic renal failure, the main renal afection of the dogs and the anemia is the main sequel of this afection. The kidneys are the main responsible for the production of the hormone stimulator and regulator of the erythropoiesis - erythropoietin. The present work had as objectives to investigate and to describe the histopathologics alterations of the kidneys and of the erythroid lineage in the bone marrow of dogs bearers of chronic renal failure (CRF), identifying and quantifying the precursory cells of the erythrocytes in the bone marrow. 15 control animals and 15 animals bearers of chronic renal failure were used. The samples were analyzed in optic microscopy, with the use of the Giemsa coloration, used to differentiate the erythroid precursors. The animals of the control group inspite of the morphologic alterations presented in the kidneys, were not enough to promote alterations in the hematological parameters, as well as in the serum biochemistry. In the animals of the group with CRF the morphologic alterations are characterized by chronic glomerulonephritis, following by proliferative mesangial glomerulonephritis, membranousproliferative glomerulonephritis and the membranous glomerulonephritis with 46,66%, 26,66%, 13,33% and 13,33% of the animals respectively. It is worth to stand out that 73,33% of the animals exhibited chronic interstitial nephritis and 20% presented focal interstitial nephritis. Of the 15 animals of the group with CRF, 80% exhibited anemia, being 46,66% of the type normocytic normochromic, 20% macrocytic hypochromic, 6,66% with anemia microcytic normochromic and 6,66% of the type macrocytic hypochromic. The morphologic tubulo-interstitial alterations presented larger correlation with the urea concentrations and creatinine and with the counting of the erythroid precursors
