In this short article, the co-author of Alexey V. Yablokov tells the story of acquaintance with him, about the features of the character of this outstanding scientist, moreover about how he worked with
Yablokov the last few years. Fragments of discussions by e-mail which concern a few actual biological problems (in particular cooperation in nature, evolution and controlled evolution) are given in the articl
Modern approaches to the treatment of chronic urticaria
The article provides modern definitions and classification of urticaria. The general provisions of the treatment of chronic urticaria, the treatment of which is often very difficult, are outlined. The main provisions of the treatment of urticaria were formulated, according to which the patient should be treated until the rash is completely resolved. In chronic urticaria, it is necessary to identify and eliminate the causes of dermatosis; avoid exposure to identified triggers; increase tolerance; pharmacological treatment should be aimed at preventing the release of mast cell mediators and/or the effects of mast cell mediators. The goal of treatment should be to relieve the symptoms of urticaria as completely as possible, taking into account the safety and quality of life of the patient in each individual case. The importance of identifying and addressing underlying causes and avoiding identified triggers is emphasized. The therapy algorithm is considered in detail, including 4 lines according to the European guidelines and domestic clinical guidelines. Particular attention is paid to the treatment of various subtypes of chronic urticaria. A comparative description of the most effective antihistamines is given
To the question of the effect of isotretinoin on the neuropsychic state of patients with acne
Patients with acne often develop neuropsychiatric disorders of varying severity, correlating, as a rule, with the severity of dermatosis. Isotretinoin is the most commonly used drug for the treatment of moderate acne. Due to the fact that in a number of studies isotretinoin was considered as a trigger for the development of various neuropsychiatric disorders, numerous studies were conducted to prove this possibility or to refute it. An analysis of the literature showed that, according to the vast majority of studies, isotretinoin does not lead to neuropsychiatric disorders. However, given the opposite opinion of some authors, it is advisable to actively identify, including in the anamnesis, any psycho-emotional disorders, and monitor them during therapy. In these cases, it is indicated to start treatment with small doses (recommendations have not been developed)
This work's aim was to analyse the rhetorical devices and speech delivery techniques traditionally used in US male political speaking and contrast them to the speeches made by contemporary female speakers in the US. The author made a quantitative analysis of selected speeches made in the last 9 years, followed by a statistical analysis of the data received. The hypothesis of the research was, that the ratio of particular rhetorical techniques used in contemporary US female politician's speeches would be different from the results found in the speeches presented by US male politicians, and also that an evolution of the employed techniques with time would be apparent. For the purposes of the experiment, five prominent speeches made by female political speakers from the USA between 2015 and 2022 and five speeches made by US male politicians between the years 1989 and 2017 were analysed and the rhetorical techniques were assessed according to the criteria determined by the author in the methodological part of the thesis
Social and political evolution of Novgorod the Great in the veche period
The article focuses on the debate about the nature and consequences of the social and political
development of Novgorod the Great in the 10th to the 15th centuries. The author outlines the
historiography of the topic and provides a review of his research in this field in the context of the
modern historiographic situation. We argue that there are well-grounded reasons for the convergence
of different concepts which exist in modern Russian historiography of medieval Novgorod. Whereas
V. L. Ianin and the scholars who share his views dwell on the boyar corporation, which claimed
‘sovereign ownership’ of the land, and I. Ia. Froianov writes about the Novgorod veche in general, the
works of this author give an account of the status and historical significance of the ‘small commune’
inside Novgorod and of other issues, related to it. Refs 65

Omalium gayndahense was originally described from Gayndah, Queensland, Australia (MacLeay 1873). Bernhauer (1926) synonymized Phloeonomus singularis Kraatz, 1859 with this species, but Steel (1960) revalidated and transferred it to Paraphloeostiba. Besides that, Steel reported records of P. gayndahensis from Queensland, New South Wales, and Lord Howe Island. Kuschel (1990) recorded it from New Zealand. Several authors in the 1990s recorded this species from Europe (e.g. Zanetti 1995, Assing 1996), including the Canary Islands (Assing 1996, Assing & Wunderle 1999) and Madeira (Assing 1996, Assing & Schülke 2006). Newton et al. (2000) recorded it from California, USA. Rougemont (2001) reported it from Hong Kong, China. The same author reported records of P. apicalis from Hong Kong and Yunnan (see above), which in fact refer to P. gayndahensis. The aedeagus of a specimen from Hong Kong is illustrated in Figs. 25–26. The species is here recorded from Yunnan for the first time.Published as part of Shavrin, Alexey V., 2020, New species and records of Paraphloeostiba Steel, 1960 from China and Laos and descriptions of four new species of related genera (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae Omaliinae: Omaliini), pp. 301-329 in Zootaxa 4890 (3) on pages 311-312, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4890.3.1, http://zenodo.org/record/430612
Synchronization of networked oscillators under nonlinear integral coupling
In this paper, we consider synchronization of dynamical systems interconnected via nonlinear integral coupling. Integral coupling allows one to achieve synchronization with lower interaction levels (coupling gains) than with linear coupling. Previous results on this topic were obtained for synchronization of several systems with all-to-all interconnections. In this paper, we relax the requirement of all-to-all interconnections and provide two results on exponential synchronization under nonlinear integral coupling for networks with topologies different from all-to-all interconnections. In particular, we provide a high-gain result for an arbitrary interconnection topology and a non-high-gain method for analysis of synchronization for specific topologies. The results are illustrated by simulations of Hindmarsh-Rose neuron oscillators.acceptedVersion© 2018, IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd
PETER THE GREAT REVISED: ON THE HISTORY OF THE TEXT OF ALEXEY TOLSTOY’S NOVEL
The paper was written at the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the grant of the President of Russian Federation for young Russian scientists and scholars with a PhD title (МК-9079.2016.6). Abstract: The article examines Alexey Tolstoy’s incomplete revisions (1944– 1945) of the first book of his novel Peter the Great. These revisions were taken into account in the course of the text’s preparation for the first Collection of Complete Works (1946) compiled and edited after Tolstoy’s death. On the one hand, the revisions of 1944–1945 continued the main line of Tolstoy’s work on his previous editions (general tendency to conciseness, elimination of colorful epithets, cuttings, clarification of images and historical realities). On the other hand, Tolstoy returned to those images what he had repudiated when preparing one of the first drafts of the text (as for example, the image of Nikita Pustosvyat). Besides, according to A. V. Alpatov, the author cut out the “erroneous moments” related to the mention of Germans and German influence on Peter in the novel (“the elements of idealization in the depiction of Kukuy”). One of the main directions in the author’s revisions had to do with the image of the main character, Peter the First. Tolstoy idealized Peter by cutting the descriptions of his disease and seizures and by correcting the scenes representing his wrath and mad, explosive temper. Thus, in 1944–1945 Tolstoy seriously reworked his novel including its contents
Cillaeopsis Grouvelle 1899
1. Cillaeopsis Grouvelle, 1899: 127 —Afrotropical Region (see Kirejtshuk 2001). The Cillaeopsis was initially proposed as a separate genus with two species, “genre voisin des Orthogramma et Cillaeus ” which differs from these genera in the “abdomen supra quatuor segmentis ultimis expositis” (Grouvelle 1899: 127: Cillaeopsis kraatzi Grouvelle, 1899 and C. nitidula Grouvelle, 1899). Among other things Cillaeopsis is characterised by the eyes located at the head base. However, the third species (Cilaeopsis maynei Grouvelle 1914c: 129) should be regarded in composition of the genus Paracilaeopsis stat. nov. (Kirejtshuk 2001) because its eyes are located at distance from the head base and abdominal segment 4 is not completely exposed from under elytral apices (this species is known to the first author after the specimens from collections of SDEI and Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren (Belgium)). Many characters of the initial members of Cilaeopsis mentioned in their original descriptions, except for convexity of body and comparatively shorter elytra, can fit to those in Cillaeopeplus. Moreover, the species similar to Hawaiian and Australian members of this genus are rather frequent among African cillaeines (see the below notes on distribution of Cillaeopeplus). Taking into consideration of the body convexity and the reminiscence of Orthogramma indicated by the descriptor it can be supposed some similarity of Cilaeopsis with Xanthopeplus rather than with other described African cillaeines. Grouvelle (1899) indicated on the similarity of Cillaeopsis with Orthogramma and four last abdominal segments (probably completely) exposed from under elytral apices (some species of Ithyphenes have abdominal segment 4 completely uncovered by elytra, for example Ithyphenes rectifrons sp. nov.). Thus, the initial members of Cillaeopsis need to be examined to clarify their reasonable placement in the subfamily.Published as part of Kirejtshuk, Alexander G. & Kovalev, Alexey V., 2022, Monograph on the Cillaeinae (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) from the Australian Region with comments on the taxonomy of the subfamily, pp. 1-133 in Zootaxa 5103 (1) on page 13, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5103.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/624570
Forensic examination of anonymous handwritten documents in order to obtain data on the identity of their author and performer
The anonymous document as an object of forensic research has an information field that is subject to study by three groups of scientific disciplines: handwriting, technical research of documents and forensic linguistics. Stability and reproducibility characteristics of handwriting and written speech allows us to identify the author and performer of an anonymous message, as demonstrated by the example of the authorsʼ practice. The anonymous document as an object of forensic research has an information field that is subject to study by three groups of scientific disciplines: handwriting, technical research of documents and forensic linguistics.
