High-resolution spatial and temporal evolution of two-dimensional flow structure at a small stream confluence

    No full text
Confluences are recognized as locations within rivers where interaction between incoming flows produces complex hydrodynamic conditions characterized by distinct spatial patterns of mean or turbulent flow. Despite recognition of this hydrodynamic complexity, few studies have mapped in detail spatial patterns of flow at confluences and variation in these patterns over time. Recent developments in Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV) have created novel opportunities to explore the spatial and temporal dynamics of flow patterns at confluences. This study uses LSPIV to map two-dimensional flow structure at the water surface and to examine variation in this structure over time. Results show that flow within the confluence is characterized by a large region of flow stagnation develops at the junction apex, a region of low velocities at the downstream junction corner, and a region of merging of the two flow along a mixing interface within the center of the confluence. Interaction between the incoming flows varies over time in the form of episodic pulsing in which one of the two tributaries flows first decelerates and then subsequently accelerates into the confluence. The cause of this pulsing remains uncertain, but it seems to reflect changes in the water-surface pressure-gradient field as the two flows compete for space within the confluence. No large-scale vortices are evident within the mixing interface for the particular flow conditions documented in this study, but such vortices do occur along the margins of the stagnation zone where shearing action between fast-moving and slow-moving fluid is strong. The results of the study provide insight into the time-dependent dynamics of the spatial structure of flow at stream confluences.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2022-12-01The student, Sadia Sabrina, accepted the attached license on 2020-12-08 at 11:35.The student, Sadia Sabrina, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2020-12-08 at 11:38.This Thesis was approved for publication on 2020-12-09 at 13:43.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #16083 on 2021-03-04 at 16:33:50Made available in DSpace on 2021-03-05T21:47:34Z (GMT). Factors Affecting the Implementation of Nursing Care Plans in Patient Care

    No full text
Abstract: Background: Nursing Care Plan (NCP) is used in practice as a systematic and scientific problem-solving method to determining the care needs of individuals. There is lack of research on factors affecting regarding utilization of nursing care plan in patient care. Objective: The objective of this study were to evaluate the implementation of the nursing process and to determine the factors that may influence the implementation of the nursing process. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted at a private hospital during February to June, 2023. The study protocol was reviewed and approved. Permission from institutional heads was sought. Informed consent was obtained before data collection. Simple random sampling method was employed. The data were collected with structured questionnaires whose responses were rated on Likert scale. Data were coded and analyzed using SPSS v25.0. Result: A total 108 nurses participated in the study. Study findings revealed 89% of the nurses were female nurses and 82% possessed diploma in nursing. The knowledge 50.5%, confidence 50.9% and willingness 54.2%, were at borderline good level. Whereas, assessment and diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and nurses’ views about nursing care planning implementation were at < 50% as poor. There was a moderate positive correlation between knowledge and implementation R-Value 0.312 and confidence and evaluation R-Value 0.246. Barrier to implement nursing process included uncooperative patients, lack of awareness about nursing process, lack of preparedness, low satisfaction level, lack of in-service training, lack of time, and high patient flow. Conclusion: Study’s findings revealed knowledge, confidence and willingness of the nurses determine the use of nursing process in their nursing practice

Dramatic Semiotics in Azzeddine Mihoubi’s The Rose and the Swordfish

    No full text
The drama program in the theatrical text is based on a set of dramatic transformations according to a specific timeframe and place where the author tries to embody that program through an imaginary space accompanied by a parallel text explaining the situations in which the dramatic actions take place. Also in that program, the author describes the situations of the active selves based on moving the dramatic act and transforming it from one path to another in a process called, in the semiotic term, “dramatic Transformations.” On this basis, the dramatic self is the focus of the theatrical text, and the dramatic act is originally based on the presence of the dramatic self, by defining its relationship to the subject of value embodied in the theatrical text, whether the active self is relevant or separate from it. The active self becomes dominant in the dramatic path in the play, whether negative or positive. Accordingly, our study in this work was directed at following up the selves of the dramatic action (act) in the play El-warda wa Essiaf (The Rose and the Swordsman) by Azzeddine Mihoubi. We follow the semiotic approach, especially in relation to the semiotics of the act , to reveal the drama programs in the theatrical text and its various paths that appear at the superficial level in the form of conflicts represented in the the active selves. In doing so, we will determine the types of selves, depending on the roles assigned to them by the author, whether it is related to the way in which these selves see the dramatic acts, or through the actions they (the selves) do, which influence the dramatic trajectory

Inter-linkages between liquidity and stock returns: An empirical investigation through panel cointegration

    No full text
This study examines long term and short term inter-linkage between liquidity dimensions and equity returns in oil and gas sector of an emerging stock market for the time period 2009-2015.Conventional liquidity ratio and Amihud ratio are used to capture Price impact. Roll estimator is employed to quantify the effective spread and transaction cost aspect of liquidity. The depth of market is measured through volume and turnover rate. Pedroni cointegration, Granger causality and vector error correction model have been applied in panel data setting. The Pedroni cointegration analysis provides evidence about the existence of long term interaction between liquidity indicators and the equity returns. The VECM reports that liquidity influences equity returns in short run and speed of adjustment is high. Moreover, bi directional casualty is observed between liquidity and equity returns. The results suggest that local market liquidity is an important driver of expected returns. The study further implies that liquidity is vital for asset pricing. Average liquidity is priced and liquidity also predicts future returns. Moreover liquidity shocks are positively correlated with return shocks. Therefore, investors must be vigilant about liquidity trends while making investment decisions

    No full text
The mobile library plays an important role in the present day, because many students who are unable to visit the academic library, are getting services near their door through the mobile library. Mobile library tries to serve such a quick service which is very convenient to the user. It tries to provide such a service that is very closer to the user and provides lots of facilities so that the user gets satisfied. In this survey, the author tries to provide extensive information about the mobile library, its facilities and services and finally the satisfaction level of mobile library services among university students. This paper also required the future developments and barriers of the mobile library. The author also tries to follow the pilot study and observation method and collects approximately 300 data. Those data were collected through the questionnaire method and Microsoft Excel is used for analyzing it
