The team working in healthcare is figured as a mandatory approach to organizing service delivery and to provide error-free patient care in modern context. Globally, a variety of managerial and clinical teams are found in healthcare setups and among such clinical teams, interdisciplinary teams are the most developed. Therefore, considerable attention is given to the performance of interdisciplinary teams, and studies have linked team performance to satisfactory patient services in healthcare organizations worldwide. Healthcare teams are often ineffective with research showing that 70% of medical errors can be attributed to poor teamwork. Considering the effective team functioning, leader’s non-cognitive abilities and the role of culture remain a central concern of healthcare teams. Therefore, this study seeks to investigate how leader’s emotional intelligence in a prevailing team culture can foster the sharing of knowledge and enhance team emotional intelligence that impacts team performance. The purpose of this research is to consolidate the most robust findings by investigating constructs that influence team performance in private healthcare hospitals of Pakistan where a handful of research was found concerning leader’s emotional intelligence, team culture, and team performance. In order to test the hypotheses; this study employed quantitative approach following the assumptions of positivist paradigm. A survey questionnaire consisting of 67 items reflecting the proposed research constructs were developed for the purpose of primary data collection. By employing cross-sectional study, the data was collected from 195 teams comprised of 735 respondents from 9 private hospitals of Pakistan. For data analysis; study utilized a partial least squares – structural equation modeling approach to validate and confirm the research model by testing the hypothesized relationships. The findings of the study provide empirical evidence of relationships amongst leader emotional intelligence and team culture on team performance. The study findings indicated that leader emotional intelligence has a significant positive relationship with team performance, team emotional intelligence and knowledge sharing. In addition, team culture has a significant positive relationship with team emotional intelligence and knowledge sharing but its relationship with team performance was found to be insignificant. Furthermore, the mediating relationships reveal that the team emotional intelligence and knowledge sharing mediate the relationship between team culture and team performance. By integrating theoretical model, this study contributes to progressing the understanding of leader’s emotional intelligence and team culture in knowledge sharing and enhancing team emotional intelligence. In practice, the study provides valuable inputs for healthcare teams confronting with high work demands where leaders emotional intelligence can create support by understanding emotions of the team and can create a pool of knowledge by sharing with other healthcare professionals. In the end, study implications, limitations, and future research opportunities are emphasized

Embedding spanning subgraphs into large dense graphs

    No full text
In this thesis we are going to present some results on embedding spanning subgraphs into large dense graphs. Spanning Trees Bollob'as conjectured that if GG is a graph on nn vertices, delta(G)geq(1/2+epsilon)ndelta(G) geq (1/2 + epsilon) n for some epsilon>0epsilon > 0, and TT is a bounded degree tree on nn vertices, then TT is a subgraph of GG. The problem was solved in the affirmative by Koml'os, S'ark"ozy and Szemer'edi for large graphs. They then strengthened their result, and showed that the maximum degree of TT need not be bounded: there exists a constant cc such that TT is a subgraph of GG if Delta(T)leqcn/lognDelta(T) leq cn / log n, delta(G)geq(1/2+epsilon)ndelta(G) geq (1/2 + epsilon) n and nn is large. Both proofs are based on the Regularity Lemma-Blow-up Lemma Method. Recently, using other methods, it was shown that bounded degree trees embed into graphs with minimum degree n/2+Clognn/2 + C log n, where CC is a constant depending on the maximum degree of TT. Here we show that in general n/2+O(Delta(T)cdotlogn)n/2 + O(Delta(T) cdot log n) is sufficient for every Delta(T)leqcn/lognDelta(T) leq cn / log n. We also show that this bound is tight for the two extreme values of mm i.e. when m=Cm = C and when m=cn/lognm = cn / log n. Powers of Hamiltonian Cycles In 1962 P'osa conjectured that if delta(G)geqfrac23ndelta(G) geq frac{2}{3}n then GG contains the square of a Hamiltonian cycle. Later, in 1974, Seymour generalized this conjecture: if delta(G)geq(frack1k)ndelta(G) geq (frac{k-1}{k})n then GG contains the (k1)(k-1)th power of a Hamiltonian cycle. In 1998 the conjecture was proved by Koml'os, S'ark"ozy and Szemer'edi for large graphs using the Regularity Lemma. We present a ``deregularised" proof of the P'osa-Seymour conjecture which results in a much lower threshold value for nn, the size of the graph for which the conjecture is true. We hope that the tools used in this proof will push down the threshold value for nn to around 100 at which point we will be able to verify the conjecture for every nn.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Asif Jamshe

This dissertation seeks to describe and analyze Raj Kapoor and Hindi films as direct and latent catalysis of political socialization in India. The main objective of this study is to portray that Raj Kapoor as an actor, director and producer of Hindi films endeavors not only to entertain people but makes them socially conscious by capturing the socioeconomic scenario in the aftermath of the partition of India in 1947, and socializes them to love each other, live in peace, and consequently, contribute towards the resurgence of a reformed, united and vibrant India. In order to defend the objective of the thesis, films in which Raj Kapoor established himself as an actor or a creator were reviewed and analyzed, and extensive fieldwork was undertaken in Bombay. The National Film Archive of India, Pune and the Price Gilbert Library, Atlanta provided secondary sources of information. The framework of analysis combines Gabriel Almond, G. Bingham owell and Sidney Verba's model of political socialization with Karl Deutsch's theory of communication and the New Left paradigm. This dissertation, in the final analysis seeks to establish that Raj Kapoor and Hindi films are capable of assisting the Indian state in the process of nation-building by instilling a buoyant sense of nationalism, and invoking universal values of nonviolence, love, unity, peace and friendship in the individual, national and international spheres. The significance of this research is unique as it seeks to establish the importance of Hindi film artists who contribute directly or indirectly in shaping the attitude, values and beliefs of the Indian people. Perhaps, this research work is path breaking as it seeks to analytically point out and reiterate the importance of love and nonviolence in the realm of politics, and in improving the quality of everyday life via Hindi films and artists like Raj Kapoor
