Compatibility Choices in the Consumer Online Service Industry
In the information and telecommunications industry, among others, various kinds of innovative products are being launched. Due to the effect of network externalities on players* performances, the importance of the choice whether to make these products compatible with others cannot be overemphasized. This is also true of the consumer online service industry. Incumbent X.25-based providers are competing with each other and with other entrant Web-based providers and at the same time, trying to make their products compatible with others. Using a game-theoretic model, this paper examines how incumbent and entrant carriers strategically choose the compatibilities of their products. The welfare implications are also presented
Liner for Shaped-Charge Munitions
In 1977 three National Bureau of Standards (NBS) resident guest scientists from the Army Picatinny Arsenal (Henry J. Prask, Chang-Sun Choi, and Sam F. Trevino) used the neutron diffraction facilities at the NBS Research Reactor to make the first non-destructive characterization of texture as a function of depth in a metallurgical specimen. This and related work by the Army group at the NBS Reactor showed that not only texture but also residual strains and stresses could be depth-profiled non-destructively using neutron diffraction. Residual strains and stresses add to externally-applied stresses, increasing or decreasing the effective strength of materials. Today every major neutron research center in the world has a neutron diffraction facility for determination of residual stress in engineering components using the technique pioneered by Prask, Choi, and Trevino. While originally this technique was used to study the properties of shaped-charge munitions for the Army (this copper liner for a Shaped-Charge Munitions was used in their NBS experiments, but never received neutron exposure), the technique is now commonly used for many civilian applications including: The effect on stresses of bending welded vs. extruded tubing; characterization of stresses resulting from different methods of railroad-rail fabrication; characterization of stresses around welds in railroad tank cars carrying hazardous materials; determination of changes in residual stresses in induction-hardened auto-axles and the correlation with fatigue life; characterization of stresses in a ring/plug primary standard for testing other stress-measurement techniques; characterization of residual stresses in aircraft components; characterization of stresses to improve welding technology; determination of stresses in thermal-spray coatings; confirmation of stress relief by the ultrasonic impact method; characterization of stresses produced by a new welding technique: Friction Stir Welding; reducing spring-back stresses in stamped sheet metal for automobiles; residual stresses in new composites; residual stress measurement in coil, linepipe and girth welded pipe.10 x 10 x 10 c

Pengaruh Zeolit Terhadap Kualitas Pupuk Kandang Dan Pertumbuhan Tanaman Choi-Sam (Brassicca Chinellsis) Pada Latosol Gadog
Tujuh macam perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu : 1) Kotoran ayam murni (KA); 2) Kotoran ayam ditambah zeolit 20% (ZI); 3) Kotoran ayam ditambah zeolit 40% (Z2); 4) Kotoran ayam ditambah zeolit 60% (Z3); 5) Kotoran ayam ditambah sekam 10% (SI); 6) Kotoran ayam ditambah sekam 20% (S2); 7) Kotoran ayam ditambah sekam 30% (S3).

Synthesis and polymerization of metal salt monomers
Integrated scheduling of vessel dispatching and port operations in the closed-loop shipping system for transporting petrochemicals
Countries in the Middle East are requiring larger and more complex shipping operations for the growing downstream sectors of the hydrocarbon industry, such as refining and petrochemistry. These shipping operations generally entail a closed-loop system, in which the vessels travel back and forth from a manufacturing plant to various international ports for exporting the hydrocarbon products. The current shipping systems only focus on feasible, smooth, and repeatable operations with a first-available-first-use (FAFU) policy, owing to the lack of a rigorous and systematic optimal scheduling method for maritime transportation systems. This study presents an integrated short-term scheduling model formulated as a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model, for dispatching vessels from a petrochemical plant to international ports and economically operating a plant-side port in the closed-loop shipping system. Further, the MILP model considers varying vessel capacities and other related complex restrictions. A constructive heuristic algorithm combined with an optimization solver is adopted to solve the MILP model with sufficient speed for practical use. Numerical studies using a real data set demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed model compared to the current scheduling policy, FAFU. Moreover, we analyze the economic and computational performances of the developed solution method. Our method solves the test scenarios effectively, presenting a cost saving opportunity of 11.3% on average, which is equivalent to 439,829 USD per year for the studied operation.
